For me, this is it.
I was pretty hesitant to buy this after reading some of the negative reviews. But let me just start by saying that for me this worked great. I know a lot of the reviewers below say that they are experienced with home haircolor. But keep in mind that a lot of the yellow-haired women walking around Walmart in house slippers are also very experienced at doing an awful job with their home haircolor and they think it looks great. I really am comfortable in saying that I am experienced with home haircolor. I've dyed my hair at home since I was 13. My natural hair color is a dark ash blonde/borderline very light mousy brown. Most home blonde hair dyes turn that hair color bright orange. Before olia, the only ones that could turn my hair a pretty blonde did so by frying the crap out of it with bleach. I'd like to point out that, no offense to women who dye their hair red, brown, or black, but it requires much more skill and better quality hair dye to go from brown to a pretty blonde. This dye did great though. Regarding texture, my hair is naturally a bit coarse and dry. I am one of those people who can wash her hair every other day instead of every day. So when I heard that olia was oil-based I thought I would give it a try. I used two colors because I always do highlights and low lights in my hair (this looks more natural, high end, and flattering) For the low lights, I chose olia 8.0 a medium blonde. For the highlights, I chose olia 9 1/2 .1, the lightest ash blonde. I use a bowl with two divided sides (One for each color) rather than the bottles that actually come with this hair dye. So, I cannot comment on how easy or hard the bottle is to hold throughout the application process. I thought I should note that because some of the reviews below do mention that it is difficult for them to hold onto. I also don't use gloves. I need to be able to feel with my fingers which parts of my hair are wet with dye and which are not. I put the two colors on in 0.5 to 1 cm increments and left it on for about 25 minutes. I did sit under the hair dryer on low heat for about five minutes after I went and did some chores around the house. I rinsed it out well in the shower then shampooed any residual dye out with shimmer lights shampoo for blonde and silver by Clairol. I followed it up with the actual Olia conditioner that came with the dye and thought it smelled great. I left it on for three minutes. When I rinsed it out, my hair felt soft and silky. After the shower, I put in some bio silk as I always do and twisted my damp hair up in a towel for 30 minutes to let it rest. After that I blew dry it and curled it was a curling iron like normal. My picture below shows the results and I'm very happy. My hair does not smell like I just dyed it and more importantly it does not feel like I just dyed it but it sure looks like I just dyed it. It's a win-win! For me the benefits greatly outweighed the negative comments below. I got very good color that made my hair actually feel soft and was very affordable and convenient. Negative comments about Gloves and bottles shouldn't sway your decision to try this. I've already ordered these two colors again so that they'll be ready when my roots start to come back. I hope they never quit making this hair dye.

very, VERY pleased with this nice cool toned brown
Purchased 4.0 Dark Brown For the longest time I used a natural hair colorant and then one day it did not seem to get the deep brown shade that I longed for. I am 43 years old and my once medium brown hair is probably 50% grey from age, stress, and pain. I started dabbling in other brands and this is the first time I have tried Garnier Olia. I must say I am very happy with the color. The brown is cool toned which is what I need. I guess you would call me a "cool winter" as far as color. I run between pale skin in the winter to a medium skin tone in the summer with pink undertones. I have grey eyes. I look good in colors such as black, blue-red, deep purple, just about all blues, etc. I colored my hair a few days ago and when rinsing it out. I just used conditioner. I find this helps the color sit and take longer. I then washed it 2 days later with a mild shampoo followed by conditioner. In the last number of days, I have actually gotten a number of compliments on my hair, which, it has been a long time since that happened. I used to get compliments all the time, but as I got older it slowly stopped. Now that I have gone back darker, THIS seems to be my shade and, I am going to stick with it for awhile. I have hair that is past my waist and this whole kit seemed to cover my roots and actually do my entire head with a pretty even color. I think, it you wanted a more uniform, deep color and your hair is super long, perhaps a bottle and a half to two? I was actually happy with the one bottle. I have never paid to have my hair colored. I have always done it myself. It is so easy these days. This brand did not seem to damage my hair. Since it is long and I am 'older' I am pretty particular about my hair products. I follow my washes with Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil and usually something by Living Proof and then I sleep on it all overnight. I wash at night to let my hair pick up some natural oils since my hair is normal to dry in nature. Using this hair color did not change my hair texture, if anything, it feels a little better, a little less frizzy at the ends. This is good. Overall ... I will be purchasing this brand and this color again. Very pleased. Please see the video for before and afters. I think I probably had an inch of grey grown out and my previous color and brand had faded a lot.

The search is OVER...Olia is simply luxurious!
I have been coloring my hair for about 25 years. From bottles, boxes & expensive salons. Seems I have tried it all, some I liked well enough, some not so much & that includes the salon! The mishaps never really bothered me though as I like to try new products and well, hair grows out, so I never stressed over it. My medium brown hair has stubborn grays now, mostly on top and I have been immensely frustrated by box colors in recent years. My daughter wanted her hair done for prom, something subtle & a bit lighter than her normal color, so I tried Olia Medium Blonde 8.0 on her light brown/Dk. Blonde hair. First of all, the smell is great-it really is and at first I did it outside because the normal box colors are ALL too powerful and give me a headache. The bottle worked fine for me even though it is that drop type shape, but I can see how it could be a problem for some people. Just mix it in a dish then and paint it on, no big problem & with how awesome this product is that is a very small concession indeed if you need it! The color looked great, but was a bit too light on top for her personal liking (her hair seems thinner there and the color really took), so I quickly went out and purchased Dk. Blonde 7.0 and used that over the 8.0. Wow! It turned out great - beautiful shading. She said her hair feels better than ever, it is shiny and just looks really healthy - you know like hair always looks in magazines but never in person - until now! The first 2 photos are her hair, the 3rd is mine because of course, I was so pleased with how her hair turned out that I also bought 4.35 Dark Golden Mahogany for myself due to another reviewer who loved it - and thank you, it is truly a beautiful color! Not only that, Olia actually covered my top greys...this has not been the case with any other color I have tried. My hair feels luxurious as well. I noticed some bad reviews and I can only surmise that some people need practice (we all do initially!), maybe a different color or maybe for whatever reason they just didn't like it, but I never want to try another hair color product again. My fast & free haircolor days are over - this product sold me instantly. It is spectacular. The pictures are not great quality & certainly don't do justice to how great both our colors turned out, but I think pictures are helpful so I uploaded them anyway.

Relatively suitable for relaxed/permed hair. Slightly drying. Nice color.
It has been a little over a week since I used the dye and so far my hair hasn't fallen out. I relaxed it 2 weeks before dying. My hair is naturally dark reddish brown but the red isn't very noticeable so I wanted to use the light Auburn color to enhance the red. The color is more noticeable, closer to the dye swatch on dark brown but it's more copper. I have thick hair and the dye left it feeling kinda dry and hard so I followed the conditioner with leave in conditioner and olive oil. My main comment would be on the dye instructions. It says to do roots first THEN the rest of the hair. I smoothed a bit over the length of my hair as I did my roots but my roots still came out WAY brighter than the rest of my hair. The color subsided a tad after the next wash but it's still clear that my roots are brighter. Not distracting or ugly but I can tell. I'm not sure if this is because I had relaxed my roots. Someone said that relaxer makes hair more porous so it absorbs color more readily; I combatted this by only leaving it on my hair for 25mins but I guess that didn't help. Next time I'll wait 3 weeks after I perm.Another comment I have is that it took out my perm a bit. Made it a bit kinkier. Overall, nice dye. Relatively gentle. Scalp itched a tad for a few days.

5.3 Medium Golden Brown - what to expect with GOLDEN shades on auburn undertones
I'm writing this review for two reasons. Firstly, it's a really great product, great coverage, much less harsh than L'Oreal and Clairol, way better coverage for stubborn gray and uneven tones, pleasantly scented in comparison to the rotten eggs sulfur smells of the other brands. The smell on your hair does not linger. Generous after color care conditioner. Secondly, I'm going to explain a little bit about colors/tones. IF your hair has a tendency to pick up on red tones, if it looks a bit orange when you remove color, IF you have that natural auburn undertone in your hair color then ANYTHING that has GOLDEN or MAHOGANY in the title will make your hair turn quite reddish. If this is the effect you are looking for than choose the Golden shades. But keep in mind that it will never make your hair Golden, it will always make it more reddish. However, if you are looking to tone down the red tones in your hair, go for a more ASH color or a true color that does not have Golden in the title. I bought this knowing that it would give my medium brown hair with natural auburn undertones a rich reddish tone. I was prepared for that. Will I keep it this way? Not sure yet! The actual tone and color is just gorgeous. It looks rich and deep and has incredible shine. But I'll need to fool around with it a bit-- try some different looks, styles, or makeup colors-- I usually only wear a little face powder to control shine, a honey lip balm, and a little mascara, I'm very natural and not into heavy makeup so I need to see if this reddish tone will work on my complexion without needing to wear foundation. If I were to tone down the red, I would go for the 5.0 Medium Brown and leave that on for around 40 minutes, (30 never works for me), I would cover my roots first and then the remainder of the hair last, so that my roots are getting 40 mins and the hair is getting at least 25 minutes. If you have hair that is past the shoulders, use 2 boxes. More is always better. You want the hair to be completely saturated and not stiff and dry - this will cause patchiness in the areas where the hair is not penetrated completely. Hope this helps! Also, using a protein filler before you color and leaving that in can also assist in even coverage but it's not necessary unless you have recently bleached (went lighter) as it helps to fill in the bleached out hair.

Mixed Results
I used 6.6 Light Intense Auburn. For reference I have light brown hair. This is supposed to make it bright red. I havenโt used this type of dye before, but have used many types and brands over the years, those with ammonia and those without, permanent and semi permanent. On my hair I had fuschia under the top layers. The top layer had been dyed with a bright red from Revlon Colorsilk, which worked well. Then I had at least 2 inches of growth, which is where I used this color. The first huge issue with this is the packaging design. Itโs unnecessarily large and bulky, which isnโt very environmentally friendly. Everything is plastic. The developer, bottle to mix and the plastic is slippery. Once youโve struggled getting everything into the mixing bottle without tipping it over (the shape makes it easily tippable), youโre required to shake it with your finger over the end. If youโve made the mistake of getting any of the product on your gloves while trying to mix it, it makes it impossible to hold on to the applicator bottle. And because of its shape and material it is incredibly easy to drop. My hair felt pretty rough after washing out the color, but the conditioner they include is really good. Results are mixed. The color isnโt very red or bright. The back didnโt seem to take well at all. I usually get good coverage with almost all dyes. Personally, I wouldnโt get this ammonia free again, there are others that work much better.

Soft rose-gold tone, low odor, easy application
Shade 8.22 came out close to the swatchโrose gold without looking brassy. The cream spreads evenly, doesnโt drip, and the ammonia-free formula has a mild scent. Instructions are clear; I processed ~30 minutes and hair felt conditioned afterward. Color has held well so far and fades toward a peachy blonde rather than dulling out. Good at-home option if you want a subtle pink toneโdo a strand test and check sizing if you have long or thick hair. I recommend it.

TRASH
I wish I could give this zero stars. First things first the dye came opened. The developer didnโt have seal on it I looked it up and it said it was normal for this brand. Anyway I used it and it didnโt even dye my hair, itโs like I never even put dye on my hair. Likeโฆ what a waste of money DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS SELLER.

Gentle On Hair
Coloured my roots nicely. The product is very thick & I had a slight problem getting all the color out of the bottle but the result is good. Covered the dark hair at the back & grey in the front. I will use this product every time now.

Colour Match-Perfect
Iโve tried this product before and I love it. This is my perfect colour since I was a kid. I donโt need to colour for about 8 weeks.

Perfect hair color although smell is little bit an issue while applying
The product delivery was absolutely perfect. I received it within 24hrs. Although, I didn't like the packing of the product in the amazon box which was unnecessarily too large and didn't fix into my mailbox. However, the product worked well on my hairs, both color and texture were fine. I didn't like the smell while applying on my hairs.
