Product Description Academy Award® nominee Gary Oldman, Christian Slater, and Dane Cook headline this outrageous action-comedy about greed, revenge, and a desert full of dead Elvis impersonators. A priceless Apache war mask has been stolen from an Indian casino causing criminals, frat boys, tomahawk-wielding hit men, modern-day cowboys, and a six-foot-tall blonde assassin to rampage through a small town in hopes of claiming the treasure first. Guns, Girls and Gambling is an action-packed comedy where the laughs pile up faster than the body count.]]> .com The trifling diversion that is Guns, Girls and Gambling flows directly from the postmodern hipsterism of the Tarantino school. You know the genre: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, Seven Psychopaths, Smokin' Aces, Snatch, and the plethora of Pulp Fiction-inspired ironic dramedies that have played with outrageous scenarios, narrative structure, elaborate casting, and darkly violent humor. Those qualifiers seem kind of a mouthful for a movie that largely succeeds as a wisp of episodic entertainment and harebrained farce. Though cockeyed and crazy in the way its timeline keeps shifting, the basic story presents an ordinary guy named John Smith (Christian Slater) narrating his own tale of adventure across the Utah desert. After a precious Native American relic disappears from a casino, he and it are hotly pursued by an assortment of cowboys, Indians, lawmen, assassins, and Elvis impersonators. But nothing is really as it seems, and the movie ultimately breaks its own rules by lying to us about some fundamental plot points. Not that there's anything wrong with that, especially since Guns, Girls and Gambling is all about cheating and untruth anyway. The farcical tone is established right away in the scattershot way the movie introduces the players with title graphics that are derivative clues to its roots as scion of the Tarantino society. The narrative is far too convoluted and silly to summarize; the movie's frenzied pace is the more important element anyway. The boldfaced cast members are picked off one by one as they abandon the casino and spread out across the bright, arid landscape. A key moment at a poker game between battling Elvis impersonators (Gary Oldman, Chris Kattan, et al.) gives way to chase with cowboys and Indians (Jeff Fahey, Powers Boothe, Matthew Willig, and others), lawmen (Dane Cook, Sam Trammell, Paulina Gretzky, to name a few), a Pocahontas (Megan Park), and a leggy blonde killer with a fondness for quoting Edgar Allan Poe (Helena Mattsson). That takes care of the guns, girls, and gambling, but it doesn't come close to condensing the zaniness and mayhem of their interactions or the rhyme or reason of how and when they're dispatched. It's not hard to see why Guns, Girls and Gambling became an orphaned, direct-to-home product or how it may have run off the rails during its low-budget production. Though the movie delivers for the market it aimed for, there's a flatness of spirit in its slapdash nature that often undermines the pedigree it strives to achieve. But it's fun to follow along, and the ending perks up by making hash of what was already an overcooked stew. --Ted Fry

and after watching the movie it was a lot better then I ever thought it would be
I bought this film for the only reason as it was filmed at my dad's work and my my wife got to meet some of the stars of the movie, and after watching the movie it was a lot better then I ever thought it would be. The storyline of the movie was sort of all over the place but it made me laugh and made me want to keep watching the movie, and knowing my wife had met most of the cast made it fun to watch and seeing all the places that was filmed at my dad's work was also way cool to try and pick out where in his work they were filming, over all this movie was good

Quirky, different, and just plain fun
Once in a while a movie comes along that shouldn't be taken seriously and should be watched just for fun. "Guns, Girls and Gambling" is one of those. It's a whodunnit/whogunnadoit/whatgunnahappennext crazy flick that has you thinking (but not too much) about the next possible clue or twist. An excellent cast (including Gary Oldman and Christian Slater) does a great job in working with the quirky screenplay. Don't attempt to figure out any details or predictions about this movie because you will very possibly be wrong...just go with the flow and enjoy.

Worth it. It delivers!
I was skeptical to rent this but I really enjoyed it. After having watched it ...with this cast it would be hard to screw it up, so it's not surprsising it is one of the better movies I've seen this year. It's really good. Original, funny and a good time. Surprised that this didn't make it to the theaters because I have seen a lot of other movies last few years that weren't as good as this one. Totally worth the money.

Have A Friend That . . .
This was a Good movie! I have a Friend that knows the producer personally. I loved the surprise actors that appeared. I knew I could find this item on Amazon & I wasn't wrong! I am very impressed w/ Amazon's (& their associate vendors') delivery time & pricing, thus far. I had ALWAYS though that Amazon was gonna have absorbent pricing, but actually I haven't found any lower pricing on the items that I have been interested in acquiring. I'd recommend this movie & shopping w/ Amazon. If U haven't checked them out, give them a shot, a test drive, the once over, but do u're homework!

Another typical Christian Slater flick
I thought it was a typical Christian Slater flick. Him telling the story line like in "cuffs" which is what he is good at. Movie had a good twist, little cheesy but worth my time.

Enoyable Enough Violent Comedy
This film isn't going to blow you away but I found it entertaining, funny in places and coherent enough with a decent storyline to enjoy it until the end. It's a bit budgety here and there but the director and all the cast put in a fairly good effort in the story that follows a bunch of different people/forces attempting to retrieve an ancient artefact for it's million dollar reward money after its stolen from a casino during a poker game. Much like the title suggests, there's guns, girls and gambling, but also some twists and turns, semi-successful attempts at clever cross-story-linking Tarantino style and a healthy dose of palatable silliness and the surreal to keep you on your toes with plenty of action and decent pacing so that the film never drags or gets too lost in itself.

“Let’s start at the beginning.” [John]
In this 2012 action comedy, not so bright John Smith (Christian Slater) is down on his luck in an Indian Reservation casino and enters an Elvis Impersonation contest but loses and ends up playing cards with 4 other Elvis impersonators and then he dozes off. He gets woken up by casino security guards who think he stole a sacred Indian warrior mask. Can he prove otherwise before he ends up dead at the hands of the real thief?Much of the humour in this is based on various stereotypes, racial, historical, political but it’s all done in light humour. With lots of corny, clichéd jokes, politically insensitive remarks, beautiful heroines, lots of Elvis’, Cowboys and Indians, guns and a ‘Rancher’ like Boss Hogg’, and plenty of twists, what’s not to like? The single disc loads direct to a main menu offering play, scene selection and audio set up [2.0 or default 5.1]. You may like this if you liked ‘Jonah Hex’, ‘El Gringo’, ‘No Country for Old Men’ or ‘The Big Lebowski’ as the humour and structure are similar. Never taking itself seriously and with it’s high body count and loads of tongue in cheek references to Tarantino movies, this is almost the tribute film he never made. The step by step guide is brilliant and explains it all if you missed anything, a great ***** view if you like mixed up movies.

entertaining almost 90's style
What can I say; thoroughly enjoyed this film. Maybe I shouldn't judging by the reviews on Amazon. But I thought this film was funny, well acted and had plenty of action and pace. I especially found the young girl (slaters partner) to be good. It also seemed different to most action films, and the and point of it? apart from it being fun, watch it properly thru to the end and you will get the end. Also sometimes it is good to have a voice over in this kind of film, makes it interesting. Suffice to say, in light of some of these reviews It may be best to rent first then decide whether to buy. I for one shall be watching again.

It really is just okay.
Christian Slater and Gary Oldman, it should have been better, I had it on while i was working , at no time during the duration of the feature, was I drawn in, until the last 15 minutes. Not even the appearance of the female assassin (poorly used in the plot) improved the general viewing.
