a year later. this thing after over 400hours usage still works like it was brand new. love the fact it has options to use usb or serial connection meaning you can use this with diff wheels/setups. or usb for seperate usage. thrustmaster with the wins!

The quality is like new nothing wrong with the shifter. I absolutely love it

Shifter itself is good quality for the price, however the weak point is in the gates for the shift knob. When I set it up after it was delivered there was a rattling noise inside the shifter, I thought it could be a part of the design but once I used it for 5 minutes the gates flew up as if they weren’t being held on. I took apart the top of the shifter to find the 4 screws that are meant to hold in the plastic gates snapped off in the little plastic tubes. I superglued the gates back onto the top of the shifter and have been using it like normal since then. It’s just a shame that it broke so quick, I’m not sure if this is a problem that occurred during shipping or whether the build quality is just subpar in this area, it didn’t really bother me much as the old superglue trick worked. Other than this the shifter is great and is a lot better for your money than the Logitech budget shifter.

Excellent quality for the money. Easy set up and simple change of gear knob to a truck type shifter (Hi / Low range - Splitter) if required. Light but positive action in use mainly with American Truck Simulator.

It's a nice shifter and the included mount is study enough for its purpose. It's mostly plastic aside from some metal internals, the knob can also be changed out. The 7 gears + reverse is handy and you can even turn the shifter into an x-axis (possible handbrake solution). It did develop a squeak on that very same x-axis (moving the knob to the right from the center point) but some PTFE WD40 fixed that easily. The gears are short and enter the 'gates' easily and gives good solid feedback so you know your in gear. However I wish the resistance was a little higher, it feels a bit too easy to put into gear, but that's a more immersion complaint as it probably helps during races. Overall great piece of kit for the price and does the job well for a casual sim race.

Stopped working after not much use, Awful build quality and gutted that I now have to ship this back. Useless

Great shifter, and far less expensive than the th8a shifter. Obviously it's not as high quality materials wise, but works perfectly. Bigger than the pictures make it look. Not too far off a real shifter size. I will say, having it be a 7 speed does lead to a little difficulty hitting 5th and 6th, particularly in vr where you can't look at the stick when you shift, but you get used to it.

Excellent fun to pair with the wheel however most constrcution is plastic so beware of wear and tear, I had one where the plastic broke off, hoping this one lasts

Works really well - makes a big difference when racing. Even though it's more complex than paddle shifters, it kind of forces you to be quicker because you're thinking about your next gear before clutching & shifting, makes you drive smoother.

Must have if you already have a Thrustmaster Wheel. Shifts are quite decent. The knob does feel could have been a little better. There is a higher model available, but it's a little too expensive.

Franchement, j’ai été agréablement surpris par le shifter TH8S. Les vitesses passent de manière très fluide et surtout très réaliste, ce qui améliore vraiment l’immersion en jeu. Honnêtement, je ne m’attendais pas à une qualité de fabrication aussi bonne. On rappelle que c’est censé être une version “lite” du TH8A, et pourtant le plastique utilisé est de très bonne qualité. Ça ne fait pas du tout cheap, au contraire, ça inspire confiance dès la prise en main. Je l’ai pris pour remplacer mon TH8A qui a arrêté de fonctionner, et je peux dire que la différence entre les deux est vraiment minime, voire presque inexistante en utilisation. Le seul vrai point de comparaison reste le matériau : sur le TH8A, le métal du pommeau et de la base donne une sensation un peu plus premium et une prise en main légèrement meilleure, ce qui ajoute un petit plus en immersion. Mais honnêtement, pour avoir utilisé les deux, la différence n’est pas aussi importante qu’on pourrait le penser. Au niveau du ressenti en jeu, la précision est là, les passages de rapports sont propres, et il fait parfaitement le travail que l’on attend d’un shifter de cette gamme. Pour une utilisation sim racing classique, il est largement suffisant. Pour ma part, c’est clairement une excellente sortie de la part de Thrustmaster, gg à eux 👏 Oui, ça reste 60€, donc on est d’accord que c’est un petit billet pour un shifter. Mais dans la gamme Thrustmaster, c’est franchement un très bon rapport qualité-prix, surtout vu les sensations proposées.
