Perfectly functional, perfectly priced
This is what I wanted: A comfortable lap desk that can keep my computer from overheating on my legs (or on my comforter if I'm working in bed). From studying a billion reviews, a lot of people complained about the lap desks with fans breaking down easily. So, I finally disqualified them all. The cushy Belkin seems to too bulky (for travel for instance) and apparently worsens the heat.At the end of the day, I just needed something economical and practical. And this is it. One reviewer mentioned that the material "flexes" and "lets the laptop easily slide". Not true in my opinion. It's got just a little give but nothing that would make it unstable at all. The rubber guard in the front of the lap desk is great plus the small rubber discs underneath my laptop help keep my computer firmly in place. If anything, you can add more friction using Self-Adhesive Rubber Bumper Pads. But I haven't found that necessary in my case. Lastly, the cushion underneath is a foam material with good thickness. This cost me $19.99 at the time of my purchase. If you too are looking for something plainly functional and the highest quality for the best price, this is the lap desk for you!

My search is finally over!
I've tried many different laptop risers, lap 'desks' and coolers. Some models had bells and whistles like adjustable fans, built-in speakers, usb hubs, folding mechanisms, etc and while they each had their strengths and weaknesses, I enjoy this cooler master comforter the most. I've been primarily a notebook user for over a decade and often use them while on the couch. For me, I prioritize 1) utility (facilitate heat dissipation), 2) ergonomics, 3) quality and 4) price.1. It's on par with most risers that offer passive cooling - but unlike other products, you can use this several different ways. I'll get into more detail in a bit. These days, I'm particularly concerned with heat because the parts in my current Lenovo X1 Carbon 14" are not user upgradable nor swappable, including the battery. Heat is a significant source of wear and tear of electronic components. I'm not a gamer and don't do anything that requires sustained high cpu usage, but when those occasions arise, I'll probably use something with active cooling. Otherwise, this is good for 90% of MY style of usage.2. Ergonomics - what a pleasant surprise! I wasn't aware of all the possible positions until I searched the internet for various images for reference. I tried sitting waaay back and having the cooler propped on my bent legs and it felt great. I hope it doesn't promote bad posture lol! On a positive note, if I want to change position, I can flip it or turn it or whatever to find what works best. This is the genius of this pad.3. Quality - the plastic feels sturdy yet light. The padded side has a very nice, soft feel to it. However, the fabric can start to fray in the corners. Hopefully Cooler Master will maintain its QA and keep these in production for a loooong time. IMO, they have a winner. Not sure how they can improve it - perhaps a perforated aluminum version? :)4. Price - I got mine around $20. If there are promotions (ex. rebate), this can make a great gift for your fellow geek.

I didn't like it at all
And it's going back. The problem is that there's no grip on the side the laptop sits on and it's at an angle, so the front of the laptop winds up resting in my crotch - precisely where I do not want it resting. The pad underneath, and I thought the reviewers on here were just whiners - it is totally insufficient and at the bend on the back underneath - that part rests on your legs and presses into them. This is an awful design front and back and I should have listened to the other reviewers. I found a better one on here called Defender Pad that blocks RF and seems to have a decent, flat design. I don't need the laptop pointing at an angle. I could barely work for keeping the thing on the pad. We'll see how the new Defender Pad works - which purportedly blocks RF, too, which is a good thing for your body - but costs 90 bucks. The pad i bought before either of those was the "Xpad Slim (Non-slip Laptop Cooler and Heatshield)" and that lasted a year or so, but finally the rubber parts started falling off and then my husband stepped on it in the floor and broke it in half (possibly deliberately lol) It was decent, if you're on a budget - and I'd recommend that one over this one any day. I found it useful. If you're concerned about RF (rightly so) you should check out the defender. Looking at it here, I don't see how it could ever fall apart...nothing glued on like the Xpad. They're all available on Amazon. My two cents!

Better than nothing, doesn't work well for my MBP
It's comfortable and light and works okay overall, but the ridge at the bottom of it isn't high enough to keep my 15" Macbook Pro on it. It is constantly slipping down over the ridge. If the rubber ridge were taller, this would be a great product. It's still not terrible, but it's very annoying to have to constantly be pushing my laptop back up a couple inches.

nice but needs padding
Not too comfy or padded but functional. It's ok.

Good product
This isn't as big as it looks. I use it to hold my Lenovo Thinkpad W510 which is a pretty hefty laptop. It fits but only with about 1/2" on either side. I does serve it's purpose of keeping a quad-core laptop with a 135 watt brick off my legs. That gets pretty uncomfortable very quickly. Lenovo may claim that the W510 puts out less heat than previous versions, but I'm inclined to argue with them on that point. The padding is very plush. I have no problem spending several hours working with my laptop on my lap now.The only thing that I figured out with this is that for me it works better if I reverse it and put the cord holder in the front. There's a pretty good tilt to the holder and if I try to use it as pictured its like trying to type on something angled 45 degrees towards me. That's not good for wrists. In addition, the slot is kinda useless as a 'cord holder'. The Thinkpad has a long plug which extends past the edge so there's no way it'll hold a cord anyway. For me the cord holder is more useful in front as a pen/USB stick/remote control holder.Overall, nice product. Definitely better than not having one.

Product looks great, exactly what I was looking for
Product looks great, exactly what I was looking for. However, it was ordered at the end of October and it didn't arrive until beginning of December.

because of her poor eyesight, so this was a godsend for her
I bought this for my Meme, she loves to read and does so, quite often. She is always trying to hold her books up close, because of her poor eyesight, so this was a godsend for her. She loves it!

Semplice, comodo, versatile

Super!
