Simple to use for an elderly person and accurate.
I bought this for my Mother who is in a care home in France and who needs help translating between French and English. I needed a device for her to use that would be simple to use and accurate. The Timekettle T1 Mini exceeded my expectations - it translates quickly and accurately when using mobile data. It is also easy to use giving its one button operation. My Mother can now communicate effectively with the care home nurses, and they are delighted to have a means to easily communicate with Mother.

Didn’t work at all!
Unfortunately after waiting with excitement once it arrived and set up, the device was set to English - Thai translation, but it would only translate what it thought was English all the time even when I tried to translate Thai (it would listen to the Thai think it was English and translate that to Thai!) Update, returned and ordered another in case the first was faulty. No it wasn’t, the second device exactly the same, absolutely rubbish when trying to translate Thai to English! So I’m returning that as well.

Speaking Clearly and dont put chinese ar the main language as you may get stuck with it
First i needed it as a gift for a Brazilian friend, but sadly Portuguese is not one of the main languages therefore you cannot use it in Brazil off-line the other issue in all the instructions can only be in english. one main problem i Found if you put one of the chinese languages on as the main langusge it is very difficult to re set the unit unless to can read chinese. It is important to speak very clearly . on of the benifits for my friend in Brazil who is learning english he can ask a wuestion in portuguese and get the answer in english he can then as the same question in english and get the answer in portuguese .I am hoping that the release an upgrade to the progran ASAP i think that is necessary. if they do that then the product is one of the best on the market

Travel essential.
Absolutely essential for travelling in China, the T1 mini translator does away with the hassle of needing a separate esim and allows for clear communication between yourself and the native speakers. Thoroughly recommended.

difficult to find out on how to gain excess to carryout the required translation.
Due to lack of the user manual in a booklet I find it very difficult to make use of the translator.

Brilliant device
I purchased this item for my trip to Thailand. It worked very well both outside (using built in data) and inside (Wifi). I used it to communicate with Thai locals, in shops, bars, supermarkets and even outside on the streets, and it perforemed very well and everyone could understand the translated English to Thai. I even used it in China while at Beijing International Airport to ask for directions, again, worked very well.

It's ok but...
Many people with a smartphone already have an app or two that does something similar to this translator, so why should you buy? I've got to be honest, I think the appeal is limited. I can see if you're doing business and need to read documents in a different language and may not have access to a reliable human translator, or are somewhere far off the beaten track where English isn't spoken very widely then you may have a need for something like this, but for most of us, the apps we have on our phone are probably adequate. The only real benefit I can see (for me) is the ability to read menus, direction signs and the like in the host language. I appreciate it's always nice to be able to say a few words in a new language - and I always try to learn a few phrases wherever I go on my travels, but most of the languages supported here are of countries where English is widely spoken, sometimes as a second official language, so again, the appeal is limited. I also have to say that I don't really want to carry another piece of tech around with me, even one as small as this. At £169.99 (as at 27 July 2023) I think this is quite expensive for what it is. Not convinced.

Disappointing translation gadget
I am really disappointed in this item. I have tried to use it in chile and it wont download translation packages. Even when I am connected to Wi-Fi it comes on coming up with errors
