Chickadees love it but.....
Everytime the chickadees eat, there is lots and lots of waste. This is not waste from the seeds, it is spillage that chipmunks love to horde. Bird bells, that I also buy on Amazon, cost a bit more but are worth the price if you have too many chipmunks, squirrels etc.

A nice looking and sturdy feeder, tough for some birds to perch on
Overall, we like this feeder quite well. My husband and I feed the birds year round, and have a lot of feeders. This is one of the cuter ones, and it's also very solidly built. It has the feel of a feeder that will last a long time. It's pretty easy to fill, too. We use big sunflower seeds, and so they don't slip through the openings much---this might be a problem if you use little seeds. The one issue we found is that anything but the smallest birds seemed to have trouble perching on this. The birds have to perch on the edges of the bottom, and there isn't a lot of room without hitting into the seed storage. We saw a lot of birds try to use this and not be able to. Eventually, my husband added a few metal perches, and the birds are happy! If you mostly feed quite small birds, and don't want bigger birds, this might actually be a plus for you!

Works well but taking some damage
I thought this bird feeder looked a bit goofy online, but it looks better in person than I expected. All of the parts are metal, which is a big improvement over some of the cheaper plastic models that I have tried. The size of the mesh in the body of the feeder means that you have to be using large seeds for this to work. Sunflower seeds are capable of passing through the holes, though only a few spill out as I fill it. Birds can pull seeds through the mesh.In less than ten days, the squirrels had damaged the top (see scratch in photo). It's not a big deal, but it reveals that it can be damaged pretty easily.

Cute, but messy to fill
It's such a cute feeder. I love how the top just lifts off for easy filling. But seed does spill out a good bit while filling this up. The birds seem to love it. Within minutes of hanging it up, o had birds coming to it.

Great bird feeder. but....
The birds love it. My wife loves it. . But when you fill it, eve part way, the seeds go everywhere around the feeder. I will need to set it on a large cloth next time to catch the spilled seeds.

Form = Yes but Function = No
I have a love/love-less relationship with this bird feeder and it's why I only gave it three stars. Let's start by talking about what I love.... It's absolutely adorable! It's even prettier than the online picture! It looks lovely on my bird feeder pole; all bright and happy. The metals it's made with appear to be strong and I didn't notice or experience any sharp edges. It was east to fill and wow it took a lot of birdseed to fill up!But...The metal latticework basin that holds the birdseed doesn't have a plastic liner. I think this is intentional so that birds can peck seeds out without having to pull them from small openings at the bottom like they would a traditional feeder. Having open latticework feeding ports is a great idea for birds that pick forward. So to be open latticework it doesn't have a plastic liner which would otherwise hold and protect the seed from the elements. If you live in a place of limited rain and humidity, that's fine. However, I live where it rains all the time, and is warm and humid day and night, so this makes for an environment where seed rot could thrive and that's not good for the birds. It's cute. It's fun. It's easy for the birds to get to the food. All good things. But I just can't get past the fact that it also doesn't protect the seed from wetness. So form, absolutely a yes. Function, not so much a yes.
