An emotional roller-coaster
Okay, first of all: you need a multi-regional player. Otherwise you're taking a big risk as most English players won't play region 1 DVDsSeason 4 of Private Practiced is nothing short of breath taking. The storylines are deeper and more emotional than ever and as per usual you will laugh and cry throughout the season. Here is a quick snippet of what you can expect from each character (WARNING- SPOILERS):Addison and Sam - Addy has adopted the term Addisam when referring to their relationship as they are now an official item. A spanner is thrown in the works however when Addy discusses her desire to have a child while Sam says he has "done the father thing already". Addison isn't by any means the main focus this season, in fact at some points she very much takes a back seat. But her neurotic ways and how Sam copes with her still make for funny and touching scenes.Charlotte and Cooper - The two are now engaged and thing seem almost too good to be true, so you know something terrible is looming. Charlotte is beaten and raped by a sadistic maniac (played by Nicholas Brendon...surely his most hate stirring role to date). Charlotte is broken to pieces emotionally and Cooper struggles to handle the feeling that the woman he once knew was killed in the attack. The attack and rape storyline is not for the faint hearted, as it has been made to look and sound horrifyingly realistic... so I feel I should warn people that it is a very upsetting story. The acting however is flawless.Violet and Pete - Pete reveals to Violet that his mother is in jail for manslaughter and Violet's need to help risks her relationship. Violet decides to author a book about her attack, causing much turbulance at the Practice.Naomi - This is Naomi's last year as a main character. Love interest William White dies and add that to finding out about Sam and Addy... Naomi doesn't feel like she belongs at her own practice anymore and searches for new purpose. She finds it, but I won't spoil it for you. I will miss Naomi because when she had her own storylines (which most of the time she did this season) she's such an interesting character. I just got sick of the writers having her revolve around Sam and Addy all the time, so it was good to see her moving on.Amelia - Wasn't crazy about Amelia in late s3, but I quickly fell in love with her in s4 and her scenes were some of my favourites to watch. Amelia says what she thinks, as the other doctors put it: she has no "filter"... this provides a lot of comedy and memorable one liners. She is hired as the practice's neuro-surgeon and it is soon revealed that she has a history of alcahol and substance abuse (you can probably guess the general direction the story takes).Sheldon - He doesn't really have any major storylines, but he's so lovable you're just happy to see him in the episodes. He gives advice to many of his colleagues throughout. His biggest story this season was probably when he has to question Charlotte's mentally unstable rapist and try to help getting him sent down.A fantastic season. I highly reccomend it to all Grey's and PP fans. An emotional rollercoaster you just have to ride.

Brilliant drama
This is US drama at its very best. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. Spent a Saturday/Sunday watching all six discs back to back and it was well worth it!It's a real shame that this show won't be shown in the UK anymore because it really is outstanding drama. The writing and acting is superb throughout the whole series. This show is produced by the same team as Grey's Anatomy and it really shows. It's as addictive as Grey's, but not quite so graphic with the procedures! I love the emotional highs and lows that this show is so very good at.This box set is well worth the money and I urge any fans of the previous three seasons to buy it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Watchable
I'm a fan of Greys Anatomy so I thought I would give this spin off a try.Thought it a little inconsistant with the main series but still watchable and entertaining.Ended up buying the whole series on Prime.

What a performance!!!
The actress playing Charlotte deserves every award going for her portrayal in this season of Private Practice. She's always been my favourite character but the combination of her acting skill and the writing was superb. I'm not going to say much more as I don't want to give away the plot which is shocking and heart-rending. Well done to everyone involved- it moved this series, which was always a bit in the shadow of its big sister Grey's Anatomy, into a league of its own.

Good watching...
I really enjoy private practice, as the seasons go on the characters develop and the storylines stay engaging. It doesn't have the high drama of greys anatomy but then it's maybe not meant to, it's a great watch for a day indoors. AND... at £10 for a whole season, you can't complain at that!!!

Perfect
I have watched all the previous seasons on TV but as this did not come to the UK I missed watching the series. I must admit once I put it on the DVD player I sat and watched each disc in one evening so finished the whole season in a week! Will definately be purchasing the next season.
