Aico Battery Smoke Alarm - EI100BNX

My old smoke alarm (make and model not now recalled) failed and needed replacement. I researched to try to find an identical replacement so that I could use the existing holes in the ceiling to avoid having to drill new holes. This Aico alarm looked pretty much the same and I saw reviews which indicated that people had indeed been able to use the existing holes as a straight replacement when fitting it. One review, helpfully, gave the spacing of the holes which, however, were different from mine. When I came to fit the new alarm I immediately discovered that the reviewer who had given the hole spacing was quite correct and that the spacing of my old alarm was different, so I had to drill a new hole! I think my old alarm must have been much older still than the ones being described as being a straight replacement!

Really pleased that I found this smoke alarm which is the same as the old one I wanted to replace. The old one has been in place for over a decade and still works, but we have decorated and the colour of it had faded a little.It is extremely easy to install (even easier for me!), you get 2 screws and two raw plugs.I know from experience that the 9V battery lasts a long time, when it is on its last legs, the alarm will beep intermittently to bring this to your attention.It is unusual but most helpful that it comes with a battery included.

This item was purchased to replace an identical model which has ceased to function after a number of years, it does exactly what it says on the box and detects smoke.

Replacing a smoke detector was a task I was dreading due to the fact I was conscious of having to seal old holes and drill in new ones with the problem of getting them aligned. But the original detector was so discoloured enough was enough. I was amazed they still make this exact model so it was installed in a matter of minutes. Very easy installation and clearly shows that this model is a classic.Note though, you don't need to use the screws if you are not a fan of drilling holes. Command strips also do the job as the detector is light in weight.

I thought this product had become obsolete. It had not. The smoke alarm replaced one which had been on our ceiling for at least 25 years and had stopped functioning. This alarm fitted in exactly the same spot, even the screws still fitted the old plugs. The product has a five year guarantee which is amazing, was delivered within three days (from Ireland I think) and most importantly it works! it even came with a fitted battery, so no need to buy an additional one.

Had one of these alarms in our first home and it was great. As we have moved around and tried other makes that just did not last, ie 10 year battery life, you all know the type, total rubbish as most have been stored in cold warehouses for years before you buy them!!!! We have now come back to what really works, simple to fit, simple to change battery, and little life saver's. give them a try, you will see.....

You can't go wrong with Aico brand.I have installed 2 other wired Aico multisensor 3024 series RF interconnected fire alarms and have been so impressed by their quality and professional look (groundfloor hallway and upstair landing) that made me to look also for fire protection for my bedrooms.This time I wanted them basic, on batteries only, and to be honest 10 years of use from a lithium battery...at this bargain price it is really a steal.Good looking too on my ceiling.

Dont know how much I can say about a smoke alarm but it does detect smoke. can be a little over sensitive at times. If you cooking bacon or toast sometimes it can go off but it does work.
