Building Great - Driving Great
Bought this for my 11 yr old grandson who is a master at building projects. He enjoyed putting the car together- was easy but still fun. The remote control aspect is very super! He is chasing everyone and everything around the house. Excellent gift for the cost.

Great value for a $34 price point
I got this for my 11 year old who loves Legos and never seems to have enough of them. He was able to assemble the car in a couple hours without my help, though he complained that the instructions didn't make a lot of sense and he had to figure it out on his own at a few places. After assembly, we drove it around the living room for a while having quite a bit of fun with it. It is surprisingly sturdy, though I wouldn't recommend doing jumps or driving it off ledges. The tires have no tread so this will not do well on dirt and is probably best kept inside. The motor has a fair amount of pep, keeping the tires spinning and the car sliding about wherever it goes. There is no throttle control. Additionally, my son was able to modify the car with regular Lego brand pieces so it does seem that they are fairly compatible. One thing to note: The wheels do not rotate side to side for steering like a normal car. Instead, the tires alternate drive direction so that the car spins itself like a top (more like a tractor on treads). As an example, the included controller has two sticks that ONLY move forward and backwards. The left stick controls the rotation of the left wheels and the right stick controls the rotation of the right wheels.Overall, my son wanted to rate this a 4 until I told him it was valued at $34. We both agreed it was a pretty good value for the price. :)

Very fun
I love Lego-technic sets and compatible sets like this one.The parts in these set were of very good quality - the plastic and molding felt great. Nothing was too loose or too tight. Very good parts. The kit includes enough parts to do 3 separate builds, but only one at a time. I did the first one which I think looked the most awesome. The interesting thing about this kit is how the wheels and RC steering works. These are special wheels that roll forwards/backwards normally, but they have rollers around the rim of the wheel, which allows it to slide horizontally as well. What this means is, when you turn the car, it drifts super wheel. The front wheels don't actually turn left/right like a regular car. Instead, it uses tank-controls. I.e. it uses differential steering, where you control the left half of the car and right half of the car separately. Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do it's really fun. It's awesome to zoom around on hardwood floors and slide-out on every single turn, lol.Overall, this is a must-buy if you want the special drift-wheels for your technic parts bin! Also the RC controls and motors work nice as well, so for the price this is great.

Great STEM set and it's an RC car too!
I have done other Newabwn builds before. They were larger sets and much more complicated. This 3 in 1 STEM building set is an easier build, but just as fun.The set comes with instructions, and bricks, to build one of three different models; a race car, a robot and another that looks like an off road ATV. I chose the race car. The manual is mostly clear although there are spots where the steps go left to right then down to bottom of the page and left to right. In other places though they go from top to bottom on the left of the page and the same way on the right side of the page. It can be a bit confusing if you aren't paying attention. The color in the pictures also seems a bit muddy. They are still legible, but I wish they were brighter. The other issue with the instructions is that the stickers aren't placed until the end. Unfortunately, some of them go under other parts that don't move so it makes them difficult to get into place. The bricks themselves go together easily with no tricky parts at all. The quality is similar to Lego. The entire build didn't take long. While the age range shows 8 years, I am not certain that a builder that young would be able to do it without a more experienced person. The completed car is very cool. Not only is it a model but a remote control car as well. The motor has a decent amount of power and, unlike other cars, the wheels have sections that roll sideways as well as front to back. This allows the car to spin in circles in place and, if you practice, possibly drift. There is a charging cable for the power brick inside the car and the remote requires 2 AA batteries.Overall, I would rate this a 3.5 star product. It is easy to assemble and looks good once complete. The bonus of being a remote control model is also a bonus. Having 3 different choices will make it a good choice for younger builders. At $41, I think it is a good value for what you are getting.

Part quality is good, instructions and app are not good
Right off the bat, the box says 6+ for the age group. 6 year old can't do this, the assembly is very difficult, made worse by the poor instructions. The part quality is pretty good, most pieces fit decent. The instructions were not clear and often showed you putting parts in the wrong spots, you had to look ahead to see they were telling you to put it incorrectly, this should never happen. Additionally the bags weren't numbered, so be ready for a tough time. Further theres no instructions about how to use the app or remote, you have to figure it out on your own. The app you need is called IM MASTER, it's not in English and it has also no instructions how to use it. The app is available on Google play but did not work with this toy, we needed an iPhone. Many things are incorrect in the app as well, so really don't expect to use this for the app, your kid will learn more about coding trying to figure out the broken English and poor app layout then they will using the robot. At least once assembled the kids had fun with it, it's cool to have 3 different models to build at least. Treat this as a standard technic set without any other features and your expectations will be aligned
