Put in the new battery and charge it and it works fine. Dyson's literature tries to make this seem difficult ...
I don't usually review batteries and such because frankly they either work or don't. I'm reviewing this one because if you read the literature that came with the Dyson vacuum, it will tell you to call Dyson for repair service. I have a DC59 Motorhead and replacing this was a snap. You had to take the bin off to get to one of the screws and that was it. Put in the new battery and charge it and it works fine. Dyson's literature tries to make this seem difficult or risky. My wife at one point called Dyson. When she said "my husband bought a battery and installed it", the customer service rep hung up on her. So this review is to say that this battery works fine, it's easy to replace, and there is no need to call and pay more for a Dyson battery (which is probably made by the same company in China) or to pay to have someone service the vac just to replace the battery.

Don't buy. You'll be disappointed.
Updated review. The battery has now begun working intermittently afte only a few months. It is frustrating.UPDATED 4/17/18 -- the intermittent operation is now a "rarely lasts more than a minute or so". I don't know if I have a bad battery or it is the off brand manufacturer, but I would highly recommend you NOT purchase this battery if you want something that will work everytime you turn on your machine.

Brought my awesome vacuum back to life!
SO FAR (<1MONTH), this battery is better than the one that came with my dc59 (I will update review if anything changes). I vacuumed most of my house and it still had charge left. Couldn't do that with it when it was new. My original battery would flash red when I connected it to the charger. I checked the charger voltage with a multimeter, and it was on-spec. I would recommend checking that first if you have a multimeter, because a/c adapters fail more than most people realize. And with digital circuitry controlling the batteries, even a few % under the correct voltage can mean the circuity won't allow the battery to charge.UPDATE: I've been using this for a couple of months now, still going strong.

Charging problem
This is almost an exact duplicate of what came with my Dyson vacuum. When I received it I put it on the vac, no problem. After a reasonable time of use it needed a charge. Slipped it into the wall mounted charge but did not pay attention to the light that is supposed to come on when charging and go out when charged. Next day or so start a cleanup and whoa! Battery lasted about as long as the three-year old used one. Back to the charger and notice that when I slip it in the blue lights are not coming on. It takes an extra effort to get it fully mated and then the charge light is on. Same problem when removing it from the charger. Just a glance and you can see that the center conductor on the new battery is larger than the old battery. I guess I am going to live with it, be gentle as possible when mating and demating, and keep my fingers crossed.

Bad Battery with no option to return
I recently purchased this item, replaced my old battery with this battery. My Dyson worked for a good 2 minutes then shut off. I figured it just needed to be charged. I placed it on the charger and again, worked for a couple of minutes then nothing. I went through this process several times to rule out any other issues. I recently took my Dyson to a Dyson repair center. I was told the battery I just purchased was bad. The worst part, I am trying to return this item and do not see an option to do so.

Seems to be a good replacement for dyson V6
I am reviewing Powilling 21.6V 2.2A Battery Dyson V6 Li-ion Battery 595 650 770 880 DC58 DC59 DC61 DC62 Animal DC72 Series Handheld Replacement Battery [Kitchen] . I just got this battery to replace the bad one in my dyson V6 stick which went bad after a couple of years. This costs about 1/2 of what dyson would charge. It is brand new so I don't know how long it will last, but it is a perfect size replacement and the holes for the 2 screws that hold the battery in place are perfectly positioned. My charger for the 2.1A dyson battery seems to work fine for the 2.2A replacement battery. The only wierd thing is that after the 2nd use my dyson pulsated when operating but after repositioning the dirt hopper, it works fine (pulsing while vacuuming never happened before). The bad dyson battery was good for only a minute and this one operates for at least 10 minutes which is all I need right now. I have not run it til it dies yet.

Wow, I should've bought this earlier
I had been struggling to clean my house with my Animal V6, when brand new, I could do the whole house (2000 sq ft) with it, but it has been over 6 years now, and I couldn't even finish the master bedroom before it would die! So I decided to do buy this battery, it was cheap enough, and the reviews were good. It's been amazing! I can now do the whole house again, and it was SUPER easy to change, took me about 3 minutes. I wasn't aware that this battery actually comes with the tools and new screws to change it. I didn't need the new screws, but it was a nice touch. One thing I did notice, the old battery was ETL recognized, and the new battery just has the self-declaration CE mark, meaning it hasn't been tested so there is the potential for it to short out and catch fire, but honestly as long as you're aware of this, I doubt there will ever be a problem. You get what you pay for, and certification for batteries is not cheap.
