Intel Core i7 4960X Extreme Hex Core CPU (Retail, Socket 2011, 3.60GHz, 15MB, 130W)

Apart from the obvious typo in the product title (note : the product code in the details are correctly showing it as a 4960x) - if the price, the description and features are correct. I am unwilling to strike a star for such error, as the delivery via amazon prime and the product itself is flawless.The 4960X is the current high-end of Intel's desktop line, and while the single performance might a tad bit slower than the new Haswell, in heavily threaded applications it more than makes up for it. Its multithreaded performance is second to none, and its clocked high enough to be very competitive in less threaded scenarios - combined with the 2011 platform made it an ideal candidate for my workstation. I am using an SLI (2x16) and an Areca raid card (x8), and only the Socket 2011 platform can provide the PCI Express bandwidth to run all cards at their full speed. Its probably overkill if you are not hardcore gamer, and its a bit expensive if you only play games (the 4930X is cheaper, and overclocks quite well) Also, this CPU can compile the Linux kernel in less than a minute ;)

Great replacement for the 3960. Overclocks a treat, very fast machine. Expensive however, better value options are available.

Brilliant core for any pc user

Cheapy packaging and we are speaking about the top of the line processor from Intel.Dissapointed. Needed much firmer outer package to protect the item--it is a processor and very small and sensitive!

11/10 - Runs Minecraft decent

This not a review, more of a question and more aimed at the person who put the description up/on Amazon. Advertised is an "Intel Core i7 4960K Extreme". There is no "Intel Core i7 4960k Extreme". There is, however an Intel Core i7 4960X. There is only 3 i7-4**** in existence at the moment. Intel Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition, Intel Core i7-4930K and Intel Core i7-4820k. So, my question is. Is this product in fact an'X' as opposed to a 'K'? Forum rules dictate that I can not add an external like but please feel free to check your selves on Intel's own web site. I was just about to click 'buy' then noticed the mistake for there is a fairly steep price difference between the 'K' and 'X' ... Thanks for reading and maybe answering. ;)

Ad oggi non teme confronti. La serie X ha sempre avuto grande qualità. Si difende molto bene e sulla carta è paragonabile alle prestazioni di un i7 6700k.

Por el momento no hay ningún problema con este pedazo de procesador, tira todo y va bastante fluido, el inconveniente es que ya no se encuentra placas bases para este procesador, solo de 2da mano

Only issue keep in mind cooling wise this chip is known to have to be relided for better performance. However downside you will certain need heat gun, specialized pry tool also voids warranty. I've used EK Supreme Elite combo with XSPC AX 360 still find lacking clocking at 4.8 Ghz mark. high of 102 C running 100% load with CPU burn test; stability test need. (Advised do not let it off 80C I had no choice. Go for fan that's designed for radiator may help provide more air pushes. Found Enemax TB did not do it for me however Silverstone Im happy wtih FQ121. A little clicky noise but no biggy)fine running stock read all 12 cores off case. (30-40C)Price is high still for many but worth a try if you wanna wait a bit. High end stuff in my eyes.*had to run exchange once Amazon did next day exchange. However be advised their out sourced meat heads may not grant as much aid as their supervisor. Reason it will not over clock at all blue screen, unable to boot all the way.Thanks for your time hope this helps.
