Great quality, practical design
In my opinion, getting this guide scope makes sense for most astrophotographers out there. If you're just starting out, this scope is easy-to-use, attractively-priced, and performs well. If you're at the other extreme, using this scope on your smaller imaging rigs is more practical than trying to mount a larger, more exotic guide scope. If portability is important to you, this scope's compact size and relatively low weight will cooperate with your requirements. You are probably weighing this guide scope ($170) against its non-deluxe version ($70) and Orion's ST-80 ($100*). They're all good options and your particular needs will determine which is the best fit for you.The only difference between the Deluxe and vanilla versions is a focuser in the back. If you are using the Mini Autoguider, you do not need the extra backfocus and the only reason you'd want to spend the extra $100 would be if you plan on switching cameras at some point. Should that happen, your new camera will likely have a different backfocus requirement and the front element's travel may not be adequate for reaching focus. You still have the option of using extension tubes, but flexure becomes a concern at that point. The ST-80 will give you better performance than the 50mm Deluxe due to increased aperture at the expense of lightness. If weight is not a concern, get the ST-80. But no not choose the ST-80 based solely on price, since $100 only gets you the OTA with no means to mount it. In order to piggyback it with your imaging telescope, you'll need tube rings ($25), a dovetail bar ($25), and if the holes in your imaging telescope do not line up with the holes in the dovetail bar you'll be spending significantly more on whatever extra bits and pieces you'll need to adapt that square peg to a round hole. The 50mm Deluxe includes its own mounting system and fits Orion telescopes out-of-the-box (and a Stellarvue SVR90T, though I cannot speak for the rest of their products), while the included flat adapter plate should simplify installation on other manufacturers' scopes.

Works well as a guide scope
I needed the tall finder scope style mount to have the scope point over my mounting rings. This scope worked perfectly for that. I'm right at the edge of back focus using the QHY-5II-M, but it does reach focus while staying firmly in place.

Orion mini guide scope
Nice scope, to heavy for my rig. Unless you are using a orion telescope the mount is useless holes drilled the wrong way. It says mini guide scope misleading. 1.5 lbS I decided to use it on my camera tripod as a scope optics ok, not knocking it if I had a bigger mount . If you are looking for a scope that will pick out what you are looking for this scope will help .

Scope gathers light well works as a good guide scope has problems with positioning
I'm actually surprised that this scope has been on the market as long as it has and no one has fix this issue. Here's the problem there is a metal case that the scope goes in. This case goes in your guide scope holder. When you put the scope in this case or enclosure or whatever you call it there is not enough space to point the scope in a specific Direction in other words you're kind of stuck with wherever the scope ends up being pointed. This isn't the end of the world because it's a guide scope but it does make it difficult to point the scope where you wanted to go

Simple effective guide scope
This is a perfect guide scope for my f-6 105 mm refractor and hardly adds any addition weight and mass to my mount and set up. The construction is simple and solid and the helical focused is precise and easy to use.

Great scope and great customer service
Received the guide scope and one of the rings was damaged. Only a minor damage, contacted vendor and they sent an entirely new scope and didn’t even need me to send the old one back.Scope is great for guiding when using a bigger telescope. No complaints

Optisch hui, Mechanik ...
