Worth the cash.
Bought as a cheap option to start dehydrating food for hiking trips, works a treat, especially on meat. I accidentally discovered drying Moose meat is like making your own type of jerky.

My Jerky Maker
bought this to make beef jerky with. Works great. I usually marinade think slices of beef for a day or 2 before using this so they are all fairly moist, then it takes about 8 to 10 hours to make the jerky. It really does require you to alternate the shelves though as the bottom one works best with each layer up taking a little longer. I don't mind that though, I usually set alarms on my Google Home for each hour then I move the bottom shelf to the top and continue doing that each hour.I tried to do some mango, banana, kiwi, strawberry and grapes when I got it too (mostly to convince my girlfriend that I didn't just spend a lot of money to make jerky). They all turned out fine but they did take a lot longer, close to 16 hours for them, not sure if that's normal or not.But as far as making jerky goes this works great.

Not fit for purpose, in my experience.
I wanted to start making my own beef jerky and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dehydrator. This one has some fairly good reviews so I ordered it. When it arrived the power switch was in the 'on' position so I had to turn it off as soon as I plugged it in for the first time. I read the instructions and went to turn it on for 1 hour before use as recommended. As soon as I turned it on it made a loud noise, there was a red glow from the fan section at the bottom and then a burning smell, the fan had instantly burnt out. I sent the unit back for a refund.I thought that maybe I just had some bad luck with a faulty unit so I ordered another. It too had the power button set to on and so turned on as soon as I plugged it in. I ran it for the first hour and thought it was quite noisy. I prepared some apple to test out on it and switched it on. After about two hours the fan started to make a really loud rattling noise as it it was not seated properly within the unit. After 6 hours I just had to turn it off as I couldn't stand the noise any longer so I sent that one back for a refund too.I suppose you just get what you pay for sometimes and I've had to spend considerably more for a Biochef dehydrator instead. I'll leave a review of that one after I've used it.

Great purchase, does the job well.
Excellent product, have used it for all sorts of fruit. It does a great job and doesn’t take to long to make delicious healthy snacks. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because it is a tad noisy but otherwise fabulous!

Brittle broken trays
This product arrived with 2 broken trays. Clearly the trays are flimsy and brittle and unlikely to last. I would have returned the product but I needed it immediately for processing a crop. I've given it 2 stars because the mechanism seems to function well otherwise. I think spending more money on a more durable product is advisable if you are likely to be using it often.

Does the job but some issues
The dehydrator is good value for the price range, but there are a couple of issues.First, the good stuff - it's reasonably quiet, plenty of room (can fit 6 sliced mangoes) and very easy to use. Seems sturdy - no problems after a few weeks of heavy use.Negatives - the heat isn't evenly distributed - top trays take longer than the bottom trays, so you need to rotate them around a couple of times. The lack of a timer is problematic as it limits when you can dehydrate anything to when you will be home at the end of drying. That said, I would recommend this as a good dehydrator which is real VFM.

Great for beef jerky!
Ive been using this to make beef jerky, its unreal. Literally slice the beef, prepare and lay it out and leeve it for a few days on this. Also works to make dried fruit. IVe not really tried it with anything else.It has more space than some of the others i looked at, and is very quiet when its on.Not too bad a size either, and doesnt look horendus for a kitchen appliance.
