Californication - Season 3 [DVD]

The service from musicMagpie was, as always, all anyone could wish for. It was prompt, and the items themselves were as good as new. The story of the love between Hank and Karen is believable, as is their daughter's portrayal by Madeleine Martin, and Evan Handler as Hank's friend Charlie.

Season 2 was classed as less funny than season 1 while I found it just as good, just different. Season 3 regains more humour while also picking up some bizarre and wacky to throw in to the mix.David Duchovny is great as Hank Moody who, this season, has to deal with a daughter who doesn't want to be his best friend anymore and a teaching job that has a few too many attractive women; teachers as well as students. He sleeps with a lot of people and seems to stop only when Karen comes back. Look out for The Apartment, maybe my favourite episode of the season, when Hank has to try and hide everyone in his apartment from each other. It's basically one scene. Does hilarity ensue? Of course it does.Season 1 was great, season 2 was dark and, like I said, season 3 is by turns bizarre, sad, harrowing. Basically the broad spectrum of emotions then; just when the comedy has hit the mark there will be something at the other end of the spectrum. Great writing does that and, just like Hank Moody himself, it never stays in one place too long.I thought Kathleen Turner was great as the cougar who makes Runkle's life simpler then more difficult, although to be fair he's done a great job of that himself. She's so off the wall and horny you can't help but laugh. Total wackiness. Also great to see Peter Gallagher again who, even when Hank is driving him around the bend, never gets too angry and feels the only way to settle things is for a duel! Hilarious. Rick Springfield plays himself, albeit a version that is only likeable to himself.Come toward the end and plot strands that have been left for a while are gradually picked up again with a great finale that leaves me anxiously awaiting season 4. Great television.

Excellent product

The first two were awesome so when I sat down to watch Season 3 with anticipation and was a little disappointed with the first episode. I decided to continue watching to see it it got any better which it did by the end of episode 3 and I enjoyed the rest of the episodes.

Love it

A definate purchase for fans of series one & two. Hank gets up to more mischeif whilst Karen's in New York. Only when she returns does Hank quickly have to put out many fires, emotionally and literally. This series also sees Hank become a teacher but how professional can he be? Also follow Charlie Runkle working through his own problems such as trying to win Marcy back.Full of comedy, real life drama and the highest skills of social interaction. 5 stars!

Enjoying the series, good value quick arrival, looking forward to watching the whole series. David Duchovny in a completely different light from the x-files days .

Continuing with more of the same shenanigans from Hank, not quite in the same class as the first series, but extremely enjoyable if you don't mind seeing a few naughty bits. The excellent cliff hanger left me wondering when the next series will be broadcast.Keep it going, love it!

Die Serie an sich, finde ich spitze. Auf den ersten Blick denkt man, dass es nur um Sex, Drogen und Alkohol geht. Aber die Serie ist viel tiefgründiger: auf der einen Seite geht es um zwei Männer, die eine tiefe Freundschaft mit einander verbindet, sie sind immer für den anderen da und helfen, wenn es Probleme gibt.Dann auf der anderen Seite gibt es Hank, der zwar ständig eine andere Frau hat, aber eigentlich nur eine - seine Ex - möchte. Mit ihr hat er eine Tochter. Sein sehnlichster Wunsch ist es, mit den beiden eine Familie zu sein, seiner Tochter ein Vorbild zu sein und für sie da zu sein. Leider klappt das nicht immer so gut, und es kommt das Gegenteil raus.In der Serie geht es noch um die Schicksale anderer Figuren, zum Beispiel dem sexsüchtigen Agenten, dem seine Sexsucht oft in Schwierigkeiten bringt. Dann die Ex von Hank, die selbst nicht so recht weiß, was sie will und zum Beispiel am Tag ihrer Hochzeit den neuen Ehemann einfach so wieder verlässt.Ach ja, natürlich kommen auch viele hübsche junge Frauen in der Serie vor.Die Serie ist nicht nur für Männer. Meine Freundin und ich habe uns die Serie gemeinsam angeschaut und sie findet die Serie auch sehr gut. David sieht ja nun mal auch nicht so schlecht aus.Zu dieser DVD:Die Qualität ist sehr gut. Die Extras halten sich aber in Grenzen.

Ein ganz dickes "like" für diese Serie! Ich war anfangs skeptisch, weil ich dachte, es wird mir zu obszön, aber ich liebe diese Serie!! Ich hab lange nicht mehr so gelacht bei einer Serie. Der schwarze Humor und die blöden Situationen, in die Hank und Charly ständig geraten, sind ein echter Knaller! Wenn du nicht prüde bist: Unbedingt anschauen!!!

Wieder jede Menge coole Sprüche, Sex und andere Action dazu gigantisch gute Schauspieler! Diese Serie muss man einfach lieben! Wer Spaß geparrt mit Tiefgang sucht wird hier bestens bedient!

Nicht genial wie Staffel 1 oder Staffel 2 aber immer noch sehr gut.Wir erleben Hank in Hochform und die Story ist ebenso amüsant wie abgedreht.Das muss man gesehen haben...

Aus Gründen des Jugendschutzes und weil Amazon es nicht besonders lustig finden würde kann ich californication hier nicht mit den Worten beschreiben die in der Serie benutzt werden und die mir dazu einfallen.............Also, einfach kaufen und genießen :-)

The show is slightly above average. The writing can be very witty at times, and each episode is set against a great soundtrack.

Una serie strana...un pò comica, un pò malinconica...io la trovo geniale e poi è interpretata veramente bene da tutto il cast! Che dire non poteva mancare...

ich persönlich habe mir nachdem ich mir die erste staffel angesehen hatte, überlegt, wie es wohl wäre wenn hank als prof an einer uni arbeiten würde? würde er es mit den studentinnen tun, oder mit einer sekretärin, oder vielleicht mit einer assestentin oder doch mit der frau des dekan der uni? oder einfach mit allen? wir reden hier über hank. schauts euch an, lohnt sich

I liked the first two seasons, but this one is so outrageous, yukky, not to mention obscene. I didn't even watch to the end.

If you like shows that are some what raunchy, you'll like this. Should watch the show from the beginning to keep the flow of the story line.

Ich liebe diese Serie und die Schauspieler sind auch wirklich gut. Wer auf verrückte Sachen steht, sollte sie sich unbedingt ansehen. Kann ich wirklich nur raten sich diese mal anzusehen. Es lohnt sich
