Around 2mm to 3mm ideal for mixing in to compost to give good drainage would buy again

It is fine pieces of stone. A stage before it becomes sand.

Is this ok for covering seeds?

Depends what plant/seeds you are dealing with. For most I would mix the grit 40/60 with the appropriate potting compost.

What is the volume of the bag in litres?

there are no indications on the bag but trying to lift i guess there are 20 or 25 kilos
