Works great, results correspond with other devices, needed calibrated prior to use
Used this to test our maple syrup. It needed recalibrated prior to use, the instructions were clear and helpful on how to do this.Upon testing the syrup, we also compared it to other techniques and devices we have and they all matched, so I would say it is accurate. It was easy to use.

Works!
The helps take the guesswork out of home brewing. There is a bit of a learning curve if you want to convert from brix to gravity but it works great. Just keep in mind limitations of reading at final brewing. Not a fault of the device, just how brewing works.

Be sure to research before you buy
As an amateur homebrewer with about a year of experience thus far, I picked up this refractometer as a substitute to using my graduated cylinder and hydrometer to measure gravity. I would say though that there are definitely limitations including the temperature of the wort, you must view through natural sunlight, and you cannot check fermentation status as alcohol impacts reading. Also be aware that the measurement output may need to be converted before reporting SG of beer. Overall the product is durable and easy to pull out and use if you're already in the know.

Nice refractometer for the price!
I got this refractometer to measure the moisture content of the honey my bees make. This is much different than a brewing refractometer, as it only measures in Brix, but goes all the way up to 90 (much more than what you would need for brewing beer, wine or mead.) The product is well made, much like the quality of many other refractometers I've used in the past. The prism slide cover moves well and covers the glass thoroughly. Adjusting the focus was simple, and it stays where you focus it. The scale is clear and easy to read. The instructions it comes with are simple, and translated into many different languages. The English translation is very broken at times, but if you are using a refractometer, you probably know how to use it already, or know how to use Google or Youtube to look up instructions. I used a few drops of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) as a calibration fluid, rather than distilled water like the instructions suggested. Good EVOO usually has a Brix reading of about 71-72. Right out of the box, it came in at 71.5, which was perfect. I then took samples of some honey from the spring, and some from this fall, and was able to determine the moisture content without any issues. The product came with a small carrying pouch, a screwdriver to adjust the calibration, and a few disposable droppers. Overall, this is a quality product at a good price.

Easy To Use When Making Jelly and Syrups
I ordered the TRZ Refractometer to understand what the sugar content of fruit juices is rather than guessing at it. For my pomegranate tree I discovered the sugar level this year is very low, which helped my adjust my recipe for making jelly and syrup. It also tells me I need to looking into the soil around the tree to see if it needs amending in order to produce a higher sugar level (that will be a winter research project).Higher sugar levels lead to an increase in the refractive index, which means you can see the level of sugar by using a few drops on this TRZ Refractometer. The sugar bends the sunlight (use this in sunlight) which easy appears when you look into the refractometer. The refractometer was calibrated when it arrived. It's easy to calibrate using the included screw driver. The eye piece is adjustable and I got a very sharp image inside the refractometer. The refractometer is easy to clean, which is important since any contamination could give you incorrect results.I tried to use my phone to show the scale inside, but I had some problems trying to hold the refractometer in one hand and the phone in the other - the seller's photos are accurate. This refractometer has really helped me understand the sugar levels in juices before I start to make jams, jellies and syrups which is why I highly recommend it and give it five stars.

ATTENTION BEEKEEPERS - Must have for accurate water % in Honey
You can leave it up to the Bee's or you can verify the Bee's accuracy with this hand held Refractometer to determine the sugar content of your honey as well as the water content. It's very important to know the water content of your honey BEFORE you bottle it otherwise if the water content is excessive you might start fermenting your honey and the tops of your honey jars might go POP!The Refractometer is very very easy to use.1. Clean your inspection windows2. Drop some honey on the inspection windows3. Lower the cover over the window to spread out the honey. Make sure there are no bubbles in your sample.4. Read the Brix % for the sugar content and then do some math. NOTE: This Refractometer only has a BRIX scale to read. There is no Water% scale so you have to do a little math.5. Water % = 100 - Brix % (approximately)That's it. Now clean the inspection window - careful not to scratch. This kit includes a soft cloth to keep the inspection window clean, small screw driver to calibrate the Refractometer, a few pipets to collect a liquid sample. There is no Reference Solution but you can use distilled water to keep the Refractometer in calibration.

Does it work? Maybe? I'm not sure.
The packaging on this refractometer is great and I have no question it works great but I always have questions with these. Does it measure ANY liquid or just particular ones? Salt? Sugar? Etc. I have a calibration fluid I've purchased and that set it off the charts. I could not set the screw nearly well enough to calibrate it. Using distilled water, it worked fine, but the calibration liquid I used must not be for this particular model. It comes with a carrying bag (not a case) but also comes with the typical accoutrements like a screwdriver for calibration and a few pipettes
