Works well (updates)
I’ve used the liquidator for two months now and it seems to be working pretty good. I’ve got the 8 gallon model but initially I put in 4 gallons of chlorine. Installation was not difficult but you have to pay attention as it can be confusing which way the water flows through this unit. Be sure to debur the drilled holes to get a good seal. The flow valve is pretty basic and needs careful tuning to get the right amount of chlorine into the pool. No one said anything about fluctuations in ambient temperature. Hotter weather, chlorine and water boils off faster, need more chlorine. I’ve been testing and adjusting every few days. Kind of created more work but less than using tablets and shocking. Because we know continuous use of tablets and most shock will add CYA (stabilizer) to your pool water. Which will lead to chlorine lock and you’ll have to drain a significant amount of precious water (California). The chlorinator has kept the chlorine level close to ideal and I have not had to shock the pool. I even left it operating without any adjustments for two weeks and the pool was still clear.I know it needs to be cleaned from time to time. I haven’t done that as yet but I cannot find much information or a YouTube video on when and how to do that. Shouldn’t be a big deal but there is very little information, other than the strength of dilution of muriatic acid.August 16, I wrote to the manufacturer about cleaning the unit and got a unusual but helpful response. I expected an official standardized procedure and schedule. What I got was a personal response from one of their managers who apparently uses this device. He shared what he does, which is to soak the valves and floats in vinegar during the cooler seasons when chlorine is not required as much. So I can surmise that the unit needs to be cleaned annually which is convenient and could be done with vinegar instead of diluting muriatic acid (which presents risks). We’re experiencing heat wave after heat wave this summer. Chlorine consumption is significant, about $30/mo for a 30,000 pool. I believe it should significantly less in cooler weather. I keep the solar cover on when not in use to conserve water and chlorine. Bottom line, it works and saves me from inconsistent chlorine levels, no shocking and saves water.

You’ll struggle to make this work.
Solids built up and plugged up piping and fitting and components within the first week.

It would probably work much better if I could get a higher flow rate
It keeps minimal Clorine in the pool. I can't get it to anything higher than a 3 on the flow rate, no matter what I do. It would probably work much better if I could get a higher flow rate

The Liquidator has saved me countless time and money on pool chores and supplies! This simple device makes it easy to maintain proper chlorine levels using inexpensive liquid chlorine, without constantly having to fiddle with chemistry. Once it's dialed in, all I have to do is top off the liquid chlorine every few weeks - easy!
