Widen the holes in the tray that hold the page clips. Slightly. When I tightened a screw, the curb of the tray split. So just ream the hole out just a little, so the screws are a little easier to snug up. I called VIVO and asked for a replacement tray, but they replied that they did not have spare parts for this stand. They did refund my purchase, so I was able to buy another one and make sure that the screws tighten without a lot of screwdriver pressure.

I liked the materials and the stability. It turned out better than I expected. I like the supplied tools for adjustments rather than knobs.

I absolutely love this book stand! I have owned many Vivo products over the years, so I knew that it would be built well. I didn't realize it would be built this well!It has got a very substantial base to it, that holds everything in place and keeps it from rocking or moving back and forth. It can handle any size book you can imagine, and has almost limitless ability to be adjusted to your liking.I use it for Bible study, and love that I can lift the book high enough so that I can have other study materials and note-taking journals beneath it. This keeps me from having to spread out and take over an entire table.My son likes it for building Legos, because he can put the instructions up high at eye level, and have all his pieces sorted below.For versatility, durability, and customizability, you cannot beat this book stand. It is gorgeously finished, well constructed, and intelligently designed. It's the best one I've ever owned!

I really tried to let this grow on me and figure out different ways to position this thing but the stability on it sucks for big books… I’m not sure if it states that as like a warning in the description, if it does that’s my bad. But i have a medical text book (thick mother trucker) & i had to put like heavy items around the base just to keep it holding. And the shelf where the book is held is so thin… Which made it even worse trying to hold that thang up. The little clips to hold down the book are flimsy as heck. Bents super easily. Just not the best… I returned it. But i will say…. If you want to put like a notebook on it or a tablet maybe to watch DIY videos or something, it would be more useful for that. Not books… Not books at all.

This is the book stand to get if you are in need of one that won’t be overwhelmed by the big heavy books that tip the lighter units. Stable, heavy, and well balanced.

with a few tiny caveats but not enough to detract a full star. maybe half a star. why's that? i'll explain.this stand is mostly excellent. nice heavy base, heavy metal pole, heavy metal arm, heavy bamboo book stand with optional little metal hold-ins. there are included wire holders for better organization. everything functions exactly as intended and it looks nice. so 5 stars there.as for the last portions of that last star -- first, my kit was lacking one of the little screws. VIVO did step up and mail me the missing one, not without a few gymnastics through the amazon site. just talk to the seller and ask if you're in my boat. don't bother talking to amazon itself. it's not worth it.second minor qualm -- the holes drilled for the screws were not very defined as in there was a significant amount of extra muscle needed to screw/drill in the screws into their holes, meaning that my screwdrivers were not very happy about it, and thankfully no screws were stripped, but they could have been.that caveat aside, if you need a standalone stand, this thing will sing with you, stand by me. in fact, queue the song right now and sing along.When the night has comeAnd the land is darkAnd the moon is the only light we'll seeNo, I won't be afraidOh, I won't be afraidJust as long as you standStand by me...

I love the color of the wood. It's simple, clean, and nice. The part where I can place a book, phone, or tablet on is a lot wider than I thought it would be. I take that as a bonus because it can hold better.
