NEEWER Mini Metal Table Tripod with 360° Ball Head, TP29

I really like this mini-pod, even though I only bought it for one specialty purpose. The extremely low-angle shot for the implementation of dramatic perspective is the exclusive point of making this purchase. It fills that purpose to the maximum degree. It is a wonderful camera accessory and has no cons to mention or observe. First, this mini-tripod is very solid, almost heavy aluminum. It makes for an extremely stable position at any angle and at any height. It locks into three positions with the lowest position being only an inch and a half above floor/ground level, which puts the center of a lens about four and a half inches from ground level. I had bought a smaller and cheaper mini-tripod, but it was almost all plastic. In fact, it was very lightweight to the point of almost being flimsy. More importantly, it would let my camera tip over too often and it could not get this near to the ground, so I returned it quite quickly. Second, the tripod head is also solid and is mostly metal, not plastic. It does not have a wobbly retaining wheel nut for attachment to the camera, as the other one did. They both have the ball head type mechanism and securely tighten down to keep a given position, however. Third, the length of this mini-tripod's legs are at least an inch longer the cheaper model I had bought. That model was not stable at all when the camera was tilted, whereas this Neewer model is quite stable. There is no danger of the camera falling over, no matter where it sits in relation to the legs. So, setting up for that specialty shot is quick and easy where you want and how you want! One could even get the camera and mini-tripod set up beforehand, then place it in position and make final adjustments. Further, the legs have much larger rubber tips which seves several purposes, including dampening vibrations. The upper part of these better legs are also covered in rubber, so for anyone who wants to use this mini-tripod as a selfie stick will find it very comfortable, even over long periods of time. Now, not to belabor the obvious, but this mini-tripod has limited capabilities and is designed with that in mind. In fact, both mini-tripods I address here are without any any extensions-- neither on the legs or between the legs and the tripod head-- there is no center post. This is only a mini-tripod, not a general-purpose, small tripod. I am not willing to compare any mini-tripod to any small tripod. Mini-tripods are specific to a desktop, tabletop or simple support for a camera or a wide wall, fence or other surface already at near eye-level height. You will need to pay a lot more to get a small tripod that will allow you to reverse the center post (to hang your camera underneath the top of the legs) or to allow attachment of your camera close to the ground. I decided I would only pay to meet my needs, not to have redundancy with existing equipment-- I already have two small tripods. Neither of them are suitable for my need for the very low-angle shots that I need in a limited number of projects. I also have a gooseneck monopod that clamps onto the edge of a desk for smartphone video that I might not trust to my camera. There's a principle I heard professional photographers advise to beginners and intermediates-- only buy some accessory that solves a problem or makes some aspect of your work easier. Rent it, otherwise. Spend money on more important or more helpful equipment or training, then. The sub-principle is only buy what you need, not going overboard at any time! Do not be a victom of GAS-- Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Anyone on a tight budget may have realized long ago that one only buys what one really needs, or to save money or to make money. It's not a matter of what you "like." Be frugal. If that's all you need for the next few years, then that should be all that you buy. Wait for a windfall to buy optional upgrades. So, I remind you to consider this product in light of its intended purpose and will warrant it to be good for my purposes keeping that in mind. It is a solid product for what I need to do, that's it. The cheaper model would suit part of my needs, but this one is far superior for that restricted purpose. It solves the problems of trying to shoot handheld and low-angle that I face. A more expensive model would give me the bonus of more features, but it would violate the principle and its corollary that I mentioned above. You need to do you. I have purchased and sold multiple compact table tripods in the quest to find one I like. At long last, this is the one that fits my needs. It’s very sturdy and easy to use, with excellent build quality, and a very good price. I use this for travel with my smaller micro four thirds camera and an APS-C camera when using smaller lenses. I wouldn’t try to use my larger full frame bodies with this tripod, but I never thought this would be suitable for larger heavier bodies. Very pleased - good purchase. Note that this does not use an Arca-Swiss style mount like some of the competitors. I actually prefer this because when going very compact and I don’t prefer to have an Arca-Swiss plate on my camera. On larger cameras and larger tripods I only use arca-Swiss compatible tripod heads.

This is my second one. They work great. Very steady and the legs will fold completely flat.

The quality is really good and it feels very sturdy and well made. The only downside is that it’s surprisingly heavy for such a small tripod, so it’s not the lightest option to carry around. Still, the weight also makes it feel very stable.

Awesome piece of gear. Very solid metal construction, and great stability. The multiple locking leg positions is a real plus over other small tripods, because it allows a smaller footprint for placing on smaller shelves or other tight locations, or completely horizontal legs for max stability. The latch on the legs is well designed to feel secure but easy to adjust the leg angle.

A fabulous set of legs for tabletop photography, paired with an almost worthless ballhead. It is heavy for its size, cast metal with elaborate spring-loaded catches on the legs that allow three positions to be selected and securely locked in. Heavy metal. I have a mostly plastic JOBY the same size that weights far less even with captive ballhead, but it cannot do what this pod can. USING A DECENT SMALL BALLHEAD I had, these legs can securely hold my Z8 (full-frame mirrorless camera) with my longest lens (180-600 telephoto) if its legs are flat. With an ultrawide lens, I can capture a large plate of food from a few inches away, using the mid and highest positions. With care, the camera does not fall over. Solid legs. So if you have a nice small ballhead or can find one, and do not mind the weight, these legs are worth the asking price even if you toss the head, which you must. The ball is not well machined and turns unevenly; the locking handle loose and uncertain. No inspiration there to hold much of a camera. But those legs are great!

Great tool

I bought this tripod for low angle tabletop macro photography. This is a solid well made tripod. The ball head works smoothly and stays in place with my DSLR and telephoto lens mounted on it. One reviewer stated it could not handle a DSLR, it would tip over easily. It will not tip over if you simply mount the camera with one tripod leg under the lens. It does not have a center column, a positive for me. No center column means I can get the camera at almost ground level. It is a little heavy for its size, however, I will gladly trade a few ounces in weight for the extra stability the weight gives the tripod. After all, isn’t the point of a tripod to provide stability to a camera? This is a good solid tripod that does what I want it to do.

Just one down side is 360 smooth rotation is missing, Else its good one

Ik heb twee van deze statieven aangeschaft om speedlights op te monteren tbv macro fotografie. Niets op aan te merken. Stevig en gemakkelijk in gebruik.

Es un trípode con acabados de gran calidad; se siente sólido y el recubrimiento de goma en las patas lo hace muy cómodo para usarlo como mango o selfie stick. Es sumamente versátil para colocarlo en mesas, repisas o incluso en el piso, y me gustó mucho que las patas tengan 3 niveles de altura. Jugar con la altura de una sola pata permite lograr ángulos contrapicados muy creativos. Sin embargo, tuve que devolverlo porque el cabezal de bola no tiene la fuerza suficiente para sostener mi lámpara Molus X100 con batería. La posición se va venciendo poco a poco y no logra mantenerse firme bajo ese peso. Pros: Versatilidad: Múltiples alturas y ángulos, ideal para superficies variadas. Comodidad: El agarre de goma en las patas es excelente para usarlo en mano. Construcción: Se siente un producto metálico bien fabricado. Contras: Cabezal débil: No es apto para equipos de iluminación medianos o pesados, ya que pierde la posición. Veredicto: Excelente para cámaras pequeñas o accesorios ligeros, pero no lo recomiendo para luces tipo Molus X100 con batería integrada.

Neewer TP29. A perfect small tripod that will last. Ideal for table top support of cameras / phones. Easy to carry about in kit bag/jacket. Using mine to support phone camera with an additional adapter, (Not included), for attempting table top stop motion animation with the kids. Love the adjustability and firm positioning. Also had my DSLR and older digital camera on it without issues for filming birdfeeder in garden from windowsill. No long lenses though! Solid all metal construction, very grippy rubber feet giving firm hold. Positive locking 4 position leg angle adjustment. Fixed 1/4 inch standard threaded bolt for camera base. Removable, all metal ball gimbal with smooth 360deg rotation and 180deg tilt adjustment with 1/4 inch standard threaded bolt. One grippy metal thumb screw locks both pan and tilt adjustments firmly. Wouldn't be without it now!
