is this perfume for men or women? I'm buying it for my sister so I am a little worried as I saw online that there was a Men's version of this perfume.

Well I have bought some EDT Roma for myself . It has always been one of my favourites but on this occasion I am most disappointed. The perfume smell is noway the same as it used to be when everyone used to comment on it. I shall not buy it again and before YOU do, look at the comments that have been made by many people in the past. It's not cheap and I would hate you to be disappointed particularly as it is a gift.

Is this the same scent as the original 1988 version? I used to wear it, but thought it was discontinued?

Yes, this is the same scent, as the original. I first bought this in 1989.
