My local RV repair shop wanted over $800 to replace my slide out awning cover. The hardest part about installing was knowing how many times to crank the cylinder in order to pre-load the tension. I did all the math to figure out how many times it would take and that was not enough - bottom line is that you cannot put too much tension on it (well maybe you can) - I think I put 14 full turns on mine (it only slides out about 18 inches). Fabric looks and feels great, only time will truly tell how durable it is. You could probably do this on your own, but it is so much easier of you have at least one helper. Plenty of YouTube videos out there showing how it's done - watch them.

...thing is, the material isn't perfectly square to start with so no matter how you cut it, it's going to be a little crooked. I used a series of combo squares and cut both sides to true up the material as best I could. Good Luck! You'll beed 2 people to install this, it's not as easy as the video's make it seem.

Material seems pretty durable but time will tell. It did not fit on one side which was completely my fault for not measuring the bead size before I ordered it but I was able to pull the plastic rod out of the bead on my old topper and put it in this one which made it work.
