I was hesitant to try this brand due to price compared to cheap knock offs, but I have now used both the cheap chinese knock off brands and the Trend version. There is no comparison. The quality and durability of these stones is noticably better after sharpening multiple chisel and plane blades. I now see why Rob Cosman chose this brand.

Got the 300/1000 2-sided grit. The size measures 8" L x 3" W. these are a game changer for sharpening woodworking tools.

Great for flattening waterstones. Recommended by Rob Colman as an economical alternative to way more expensive options.

I really like this "stone". The 300 side makes quick work if you have a tool that is a little off angle. The 1000 side provides a nice initial polish that I enhance with finer grit stones. The 300 side doubles as a flattning plate for my other stones as well.

Quality sharpening stone works great if you use it correctly

When my package arrived I noticed it was featherlight - not expected for a fairly heavy sharpening stone. Being very suspecious I filmed myself opening the package - to find ONLY the box the product should have been in(see the photo with the angular slit in it where I cut the package open). Note the product box is pretty banged up and broken open on the long seam. The STRANGEST part is that the package (Amazon bubble mailer) was completely sealed on all sides yet showed a mailing weight on the lable of 2.7 lbs! I tried to "return" the item but there was no option for this "empty box" situation so I got on the Help Bot and it understood my delemna and within minutes, a "replacement" stone was on its way to me. When the second package arrived on my front porch I picked it up and felt the expected weight this time but as I continued to pick it up the box, the product started to slide of bubble wrap package as one of the seals was failing. I also noted that manufacturer-supplied box looked a little beaten up and was open along the long side of the box (almost lost this one too) but all the materials were still in the box. Lesson learned... Amazon, please ship these in cardboard boxes, NOT bubble wrap (and the mfr could do better on their packaging as well). So, does it work? I purchased this to shapen my wood planes and chisels. I have only had a chance to sharpen 2 planes but they came out quite nicely. This item seems to provide quicker results than an oil stone so use caution for delicate items as it removes material quickly. It comes with "just an ok" protective cover bag (loose threads, poor sewing lines) but I won't likely use it anyway. So far, so good - more sharpeining coming. Now I need to go ensure I wasn't charged twice for this item :)

I used other so called blade sharpeners with quite unsatisfactory results.

It's wide and great for sharpening plane blades. There is no notable high spot and provide decent finish.

This doesn’t compare to the cheap Chinese version. It’s just great. Perfectly flat, generous size, consistent abrasive surface that doesn’t come off or wear away like the cheap ones, good heavy weight. It comes with a non-slip mat, but I would have preferred a permanent rubber base as I leave it on the bench ready to use. 1000 grit and 300 grit are good choices, just needs a leather strop for a complete solution. When ordering this sharpening tool, don't forget to order the lapping liquid from Trend also. I haven't been able to use mine yet while waiting for the liquid to arrive. Using water with it may cause surface rust, and other lubricants may not be suitable. Since it is not inexpensive, best to stick with the recommended lubricant.

Trotz einiger Rezensionen hier auf Amazon welche schreiben das der Trend Schleifstein nicht plan ist habe ich ihn mir doch bestellt. Der Stein den ich mir hier gekauft habe ist absolut plan und somit sehr gut auch für Hobeleisen geeignet für den groben Schliff. Dementsprechend kann ich diesen nur empfehlen.
