Aqua Quest Defender Tarp Waterproof Heavy Duty Bushcraft Survival Shelter - Camo, Olive Drab

I researched tarp choices a lot and found nothing that could really go head-to-head with (any) of the Aqua Quest offerings. The toughest bit was deciding which size and spec. to opt for and eventually settled for heavy 3 x 3 m. I'm glad I did because despite some semi-negative reviews regarding weight and size, this one is manageable in every respect even as a backpacking option. My reasoning is that some equipment just has to be heavy if you want robust build quality. You get this quality with Aqua Quest but not with the burden of excess weight and bulk. It has perfect eyelet configuration and gives you many options to shape it as you wish...simple awning, lean-to, tree-to-tree stuff, right through to full on tent design with some origami-like imagination. Also, unlike many of the product out there, I can't see it being easily damaged and should outlast me. Best of all, you need to really shop around the online minefields...I found a complete 'kit' so I got adjustable tie-downs and pegs for cheaper than a lesser model that was tarp only. I've added upgraded tri-section pegs and various bungee/guyline accessories to make it totally adaptable. BUY!

I have given this tarp five stars but do bear in mind that it is heavy for its size. You may want something a bit lighter for a lot of hiking. It does seem very well made and has lots of attachment points. One thing that is perhaps missing is an internal attachment point for bug nets - hint, hint, Aqua Quest :) The camouflage is quite a dark pattern and it blends in well in shady areas. The 2x3m size gives a nice generous shelter size for one person with gear.

Its abit big, maybe I should have gone smaller but that was more expensive, saved money on this size. The issue with it is that there is loads of water on inside when you sleep under it, condensation and it drips on you. It does not have 4 pockets in each corner, more an overlap of material than a useful pocket. It is waterproof for sure, tried it with hose pipe. Too heavy too and when dam heavier. The lifetime warranty is great idea. Also when you build it in dry sun its tight, then at night it shrinks and goes less firm and more shrinking in, I am testing it in lock down daily, building new shelters daily. So this review is true and accurate.

Had to wait a long time for it to arrive but it has finally arrived and looks good. It is heavier than my DD'd but I knew that in advance. I use the DD's for scouting and being light and 3 seasons is great for them. This was bought to be hardier and 4 seasons. I have not had a chance to takeout to the woods yet but will update the review then and will adjust down if needed.

I've buy this product and it's ok quality. But the problem is its absorbing too much water so its so moist that it become so heavy on tarp and i get wet at the morning

Excellent quality, very tough, completely waterproof and with lots of loops and attachment points. As others have noted, it's quite bulky and heavy.

令和元年 追加タープでティピー張りに挑戦‼️流石にこのサイズだと、なんでも出来ちゃいます♫大き目のサイズを選んで正解でした。 引っ張り強度は問題無しでした。 次は雨の日の設営が楽しみです。3月3日〜追記~購入後、初の雨天設営して見ましたが、雨水を弾くと言った感じでは無かったです。かと言ってタープに水が張り付くと言った感じでも無く…そしてタープ内に染み込むでも無く…タープを手で揺らすと、雨水がパラパラと落ちてたので、軽〜く防水加工が効いてました。私の様に、森や荒地で使う事が多い人はdefenderが頑丈です。

Was a little upset when I seen made in Taiwan on the label SHOCKED actually because the main reason I bought is the fact I'm a proud Canadian that being said it is very heavy if your a gram wienie the Defender model is not for you this weights more than my 3 man tent with it's pole and pegs but if you want a tarp that would refuse to let you down in any conditions this is the beast for you. I let a good old Canadian Nor'easter have its way with it and LMAO it took it like a sunny California day this BEAST is tough.

候補としてDDタープ、そしてアクアクエストの軽量モデルのサファリ、ガイドがありましたが、コーティングがどれもPU…。PUよりも加水分解に強いTPUコーティングされたディフェンダーを最終的に選択しました。1.6キロの重量ですが、手に持った感じは流石に重みを感じますが、バックパックに入れて背負うと大した重みは感じません。16mmのアルミポールを1本使用し設営していますが、ポールも重さに負けることなく、全く問題ないです。生地はかなりしっかりしており、タープの一部を床として張る場合でも地面に多少小石があっても安心です。長く使いたい。余計な心配をせず、しっかりとしたものを使いたい。そんな方にぴったりのタープだと思います。

１月に購入し放っておいたのですが、つい最近思い出し試しに出かけてきました。サイズは約2.9m×2.9mになります各部の縫製も雑な感じはないですねタープ中央の補強部分裏にはしっかりシーム加工されています。最初の印象ではゴワゴワで張りにくそうだなとおもいましたが意外に伸縮性も若干ですがあります。明け方からかなりの雨に降られましたが雨漏りや各部から染み出しは全くありませんでした。丈夫な分仕舞い寸法が大きく重さもありますが安心感もありますね。本家や生地の薄いタイプと違いテンションも気にせずガンガンかけられますね。個人的には大変使いやすく良い商品だと思います。

ソロキャンプ(オートキャンプ)用に3×4mサイズで、気兼ねなく使い倒せるタープを探していたところ、このタープにたどり着きました。コールマンヘキサライト2、タトンカ4tc、DDタープ4×4と、買って、売ってを繰り返しましたので、その比較を交えてレビューしたいと思います。生地の厚み:　必要充分です。70Dナイロンリップストップで手触りもよく、裏側のコーティングもしっかりしてました。スノーピークのプロラインに使われる210Dポリエステルリップストップに近い感覚の生地です。DDタープの生地の薄さに不安を感じた身の自分としては、狙い値ドンピシャの良い感じでした。タトンカもやや薄く感じましたが、tc素材ということもあり、重量、持ち運び易さ、乾燥の早さ等考えれば、あの薄さはベストバランスなのかなとも思いますが。遮光性:　高いです。だいぶ遮光性を低く見積もっていた(ヘキサライト2同等くらい?)ので、遮光性は高く感じられました。タトンカ4tcもなかなか遮光性は良かったですが、おそらくタトンカ以上だと思います。そのため、幕下はタトンカに比べてやや暗い、と感じました。個人的には幕下は明るい方が好きなので個人的嗜好から言えば、タトンカの方が好きです笑。耐水性:　残念ながら、未確認です。耐水性に関しては、未確認のため他の皆様にお譲りします。雨キャンプになったら、改めて追記致します。重量:　やや重いです。タトンカ4tc 、DDタープと比べると体感2倍くらいの重量感があります。なので、野営等、軽装を旨とされる方には向きません。生地の厚みによるものと思えば、致し方ない点ではないでしょうか。価格:　同クラスで最高コスパだと思います。僕のように、タトンカ、DDタープ、ヘキサライト2等の1万円台タープでお悩みの方に参考になれば幸いです。ちなみに、末筆になりますが、僕の結論的には、アクアクエストディフェンダーとタトンカの2枚持ちで行こうと思います笑。

Was soll ich sagen?Wenn das Service nur halb so gut wäre im normalen Straßenhandel wie dieses das ich von Gear Out Here EU und Ben erleben durfte dann hätte Amazon weniger zu tun ( auch das gute Service von Amazon ist zu erwähnen) aber wie gesagt ich bin ein rundum einfach gesagt zufriedener Kunde von Gear Out Here EU GEWORDEN und das Tarp sehr stabile defender 3x3camo wird sicher das selbe tun mich !Danke und das ist hiermit die einfachste Kaufempfehlung für mich !PS Gear Out Here EU und das Service Vor und auch eben Nach dem Kauf ( Service nach einem Kauf exestiert ja bei vielen Händlern gar nicht mehr! I bought the 10' x 10' tarp.The material is definitely better than other tarps you'd find in the hardware store and much different. It has a tiny bit of stretch to it. It's a really nice material that would be hard to tear. I haven't tried to gauge it but I'm worried it wouldn't fare too well vs. punctures. It's definitely not as durable as a canvas (I don't have a canvas to compare it to) however I suspect it is much more compactible and lightweight, making it a good tarp for backpacking.The camo pattern looks nice. The straps are stitched well enough to take a fair bit of tension. Overall this tarp is a really good buy. The price reflects the value well. I will buy again when I feel like adding another to my collection. If the material was just a tad more durable it would have got the full 5 stars.Easy 4-Star Buy.

Ich hatte das Aqua Quest in 2x3 und das DD Hammocks in MC Camo 3x3 bestellt.Mir hat das Aqua Quest besser gefallen, weil es nicht so knistert, wie das von DD Hammocks.Es ist wirklich top verarbeitet und wird mich wohl lange begleiten.Das 70 D Nylon von AQ macht einen deutlich besseren Eindruck, als das PU Polyester von DD.Einen Stern Abzug gebe ich, weil an den Kopf-Seiten nur eine Schlaufe ist und mir das Camo von DD Hammocks besser gefallen hat.

I'm hiking the Bruce Trail this year. I'm going to need a large tarp for rainy days when I need to stop and cook lunch or dinner if it's raining. This will give me the space I need to work with, and it's very light weight.Unfortunately I can't attest to durability or sturdiness until the summer is over and I've finished the hike.If I have any change of heart after the trip I'll update. Otherwise, for the money it's a decent tarp for what I need it for.

I bought the 10x10. I was backpacking in Algonquin. We had a severe rainstorm with 50mm and strong winds in October. Our rain gear failed we were soaked and so was our gear. Cold and wet, hypothermia was a real concern. Our backpacking trip turned into a survival situation and the following days weren't much better. When we got the campsite it was pitch black. I was able to get the shelter up in minutes. We were able to get the into dry clothes. This was worth the price. I highly recommended this.

La livraison a été très rapide,Très bon produit bien fabriqué et très solide, les coutures sont solides et les attaches pour tendre la toile sont nombreuses et solidement cousues, au départ la toile semble foncée mais comme elle laisse passer la lumière c est parfait pour l usage que j en ferai, très bon achat à mon avis

Verarbeitung ist top.Wie angesprochen, aber auch abgebildet, scheint die Sonne leicht durch... ich würde aber nicht behaupten dass das Material zu dünn gewählt ist.Einziges Manko was ich auch direkt an Aqua Quest weitergegeben habe ist, dass der Beutel etwas zu klein ist.Man bekommt das Tarp wieder rein, aber man müht sich ab. Ich verwende daher eine andere Tasche.Das Tarp selbst ( und um das geht es mir ) - bekommt aber 5-5 Sternen und somit eine Kaufempfehlung!

Awesome love it. High quality and lots of ways to use it.Update;Now November 2018 and still loving the tarp. Only issue was with the 3x4 I bought of the same tarp....I put a small hole in a pole pocket but a small piece of gorilla tarp was the cure. Great. What about a 4x4 meter tarp? That would be great. For the serious outdoorsman this should be a part of your kit.

Ich bin sehr oft Outdoors unterwegs. Dabei ist mir robustes, zuverlässiges Gear sehr wichtig. Dieses Tarp gehört definitiv in diese Kategorie. Fantastische Verarbeitung, jede Menge Schlaufen um verschiedenste Aufbauten zu realisieren. Dieses Tarp hat mich in schon einige Male in unwirtlichen Situationen beschützt. 
Ich überlege schon, mir auch die größere Variante zu bestellen.

Prodotto di qualità superiore, finiture curate e ben fatte, occhielli per il fissaggio robusti e super rinforzati quelli negli angoli, leggero e facile da ripiegare, anche al tattoese ne intuisce la qualità che giustifica il prezzo superiore alla media molto bella anche la sacca per riporlo con lo stesso pattern woodland del telo. Spedizone e imballaggio perfetti.
