Great microwave
This is a very nice microwave. You can shut off the sound but you have to do this after every use. It heats food pretty fast, just takes a few minutes longer than my last full size microwave. I would buy again as I didn't want a larger size. This is perfect for me. I have Corelle dinner plates and they are just the right size.

NO LONGER HOSTAGE AND HUNGRY DURING BABY'S SLEEP!
This is the real "baby shower" gift! Follow the registry and all that, but my goodness this has saved our marriage and bodies. Since becoming parents, we've bemoaned that we can't eat (anything warm) once baby's asleep. Everything is so unnecessarily loud and has no off button. Want to turn on the oven? Great, every button is going to beep as you turn it on, but then that's not it, because it'll sing a song when it's done preheating before you have to make another beep again to turn it off. Want to turn on the microwave? Again, every button touch is a beep before you have a whole song when it's ready! We found ourselves doing ridiculous things like "don't forget to put 9 minutes on the microwave before baby goes to sleep" so that we could minimize the beeps to just one when starting it, then staying in front of it the whole time and opening the door before it finished. Sometimes that one beep would still wake up our baby, though. The ability to turn the sound off was the answer to our prayers. I hadn't known it existed, but--in retrospect quite thankfully!--our new apartment didn't have a microwave. We've bought then given away 4+ microwaves at this point, so we were pretty peeved and initially planned to get one for free from Marketplace. But then we saw this one. We saw that the holy grail of a silent appliance existed. We saw that an appliance designer had finally heard our prayers?! So here we are, living like royalty, eating warm food at night and during nap time and anytime the mood strikes us. Microwave is truly silent, we can use whatever features we'd like, we no longer have to ration off the remaining time or beeps or fight over whether warming food up is worth waking the baby. We got the smaller size, which is (barely) large enough for our largest dinner plate. Seems to heat food up evenly and spins well. It is a little slower than microwaves we've used in the past, but not by much. The eco mode does seem to turn itself off, which is annoying. Overall, still love this purchase!

Electronics Burned up at 14 Months
Update: The electronics in this microwave began to burn up (producing a noxious smell and smoke)14 months after purchase. I will not be buying an Emerson microwave again. Original review: After using this for a week, I can say it performs great and looks fine. It heats stuff up faster than my last Emerson.FYI, I use it mostly for tea, soup and the occasional melting of chocolate. It does a great job on all, though I have to use shorter heat installments for the chocolate so as not to burn it. The mirrored front is a minus for me as it is a canvas for fingerprints, especially around the door handle. The child proof latch is not an issue. They send all kinds of info on how to disable it, which I did right off the bat. I really like the simple, large number pad and intuitive power and time setting features. So far, I'm very happy with this microwave and can recommend it highly if you are okay with fingerprints.

Could be better.
Works well. Only drawback is light inside doesn't really let you see the food inside.

PHENOMENAL 700 WATT MICROWAVE!!
I purchased and received the Chefman Countertop little microwave. Iโm downsizing my life. A senior who wants less in my home - not more. The huge Sharp microwave was wonderful - all the bells and whistles (which I never really took advantage of.) It also took up a large chunk of countertop space. This little Chefman is very powerful. It did take me a few days to adjust to the smaller opening; but once I did, I was in love. And itโs wonderful having the extra counter space! The quality of this small microwave actually surprised me. I use the same times for microwaving items on this little guy that I used on my Sharp. Iโm certain you wonโt regret making the purchase of the 700 watt Chefman Microwave. UPDATE-I think some of the negative reviews are from people who didnโt thoroughly read the directions. There are power levels - just like any large microwave. If you feel your water isnโt heating quickly enough, check the power level. One lady mentioned that she had to tap the โcook timeโ before each use. Not true. There is the Start/+30s (second) button that can be tapped as many times as you want. I tap it three times (= 1 minute 30 seconds) to heat my coffee creamer - As well as using the 1 - 6 buttons for 1-touch quick cooking. I use the leftovers button quite often for items that arenโt even leftovers! Play around with the buttons - tap them to see what they do. And please, please READ THE DIRECTIONS !!

UPDATE THANK YOU AMAZON.
October 31, 2025 Bought this thing in March. My only use was power level 2 - Maybe thats why mine lasted longer than others. I found that there is a 1 year warranty and I started the warranty process that includes the necessary video of the malfunction. Tripping the breaker with every attempt to use it. Then I looked at the recent reviews and saw everyone having similar issues and some owners that had followed the warranty issue needed to find a box and ship the item back at their own cost ! But the item was still listed on Amazon for sale. I contacted Amazon they are removing the item. GREAT but the biggest surprise is how Amazon treated me. FANTASTIC. I have had a giant surprise of a refund from Amazon. I am a large volume customer. But not a frequent reviewer. THANK YOU AMAZON It is IMPOSSIBLE to see inside. The light is just the WRONG in every way. My estimation it is 2700k or LESS and LESS than 15 watt incandescent and the bulb causes the interior surface to get very hot and only takes seconds to cause this. If you accidentally left the door ajar (which you may not notice because its dark) there would be a problem. On top of the interior cavity being DARK grey and the door screen is very dense. If you only cook at night you can โalmostโ see in. But I love the control pad.

It heats well, but know what you're buying.
It heats food well, but with 2 issues: 1. What engineer thought it was a good idea to have the "ding, food's ready" tone blare an obnoxious five times in a row, & each blare lasts an obnoxiously long time at an obnoxious, piercing volume? One quick ding is enough. Good thing I missed those first four dings but caught the fifth one blaring in my face as I'm standing alone in my kitchen. I suppose if you need a microwave for your loud commercial kitchen, or for a house filled with screaming kids, the repeated piercing screeches might be useful. For everyone else, wear ear protection. I'm looking through the owner's manual to see if there's a way to reprogram the dings. 2. I learned the hard way that the microwave won't work properly in an enclosed space, like a kitchen cubby hole built into the cabinets to fit a microwave. The microwave vent on the side needs open space (at least 6 inches) to release the heat. Otherwise, the microwave automatically shuts off halfway through cooking until it cools off enough to reset the internal circuit breaker. So it's suitable for countertop or open shelf placement, but not for a confined cabinet.

Chefman 1.1 microwave
So far so good with this new microwave. Only got it a couple of weeks ago but I find it's easy to use. The child lock is a good location, in the top of the door opener. Looks great, does not take a lot of room on my counter. Happy with my purchase to this day, hoping that this will be the case for a few yrs at least.
