Great Wallet for those that want some pride of ownership
I am a person who enjoys the process of researching a product before I make a purchase, and if you are reading this review you may enjoy it as well. I wanted a new wallet and wanted a tough leather wallet that had some craftsmanship and quality materials. I googled something like "saddle leather" thinking that I might find some good information on leather and stumbled on this brand. I continued my search but it seemed like all roads lead to saddleback. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the materials and leather work. Now this is a wallet with a larger footprint. I am not a large man, 150 lbs and something like a 32 waist and it fits in all of my rear pockets, some tighter than others but it does fit. Now you would think that a large wallet like this is going to fit everything but the kitchen sink but it really dose not. What it does do is force you to pick and choose what you want to carry and give you very easy access to what you do carry. For example I have my debit card and frequent shopper card taking the two top main slots. They are what I use the most. The third main slot holds everything I would hand a police officer if I was to be pulled over, driver's license, insurance card, registration and CCW license. The last main slot holds a credit card and a few different health insurance cards. The leather will stretch to fit the volume that you place in each particular slot. If I put a single card in the slot that has been holding several cards for the last six months it fits loose but the design, the way the closing of the wallet captures the cards not allowing them to fall out, makes this less of a problem. The two pockets that reside underneath the main slots has come in handy for holding receipts, extra loyalty cards, and spare debit cards and credit cards. They are not as easy to get at as the main slots so I keep less used items in there. I find myself using one side for extra credit card like items. I have kept the number to something like four total and organized two deep side by side just like the slots above them. Works very well. The other pocket is for receipts that I can be reimbursed for by work and that million dollar lottery ticket lives there too. The main cash pocket is deep, I mean real deep. May come in handy if you travel and deal with odd sized money. In summary I have been very happy with this wallet. I feel a pride of ownership and that is what I really am after when I make a purchase like this. If I could do it all over again I would buy the same wallet and if I was to lose it or it is stolen I imagine that I would buy the same wallet to replace it. Thank you for reading my review and hope it to be helpful.

Quality product, worth every penny
Over the years, I've had a lot of wallets in different styles. Trifold, bifold, card wallet, money clip, leather, nylon, kydex-you name it. I really liked the simplicity and minimalist nature of the card wallet, but you can't really carry cash in them. Money clips always ended up dropping everything at some point, and most bifold and trifold ended up stacking cards so that they make an uncomfortable bulge to sit on.A couple years ago, I discovered the "hipster" wallet design (not that kind of hipster), and looking for something nice and thin, I went with the BigSkinny Hipster. And while I loved how thin it was, the lighweight top grain leather wore too quickly and the thin nylon interior had no grip, and cards would fall out pretty frequently. Also, because it was so thin, I had many "oh no" moments, thinking I'd forgotten my wallet because I couldn't feel it. So I decided I needed something in a similar format, but in higher quality materials. Then I found the Saddleback Large Bifold. It was exactly what I was looking for. Hipster style, but in sturdy high-quality leather that will last for years to come. When it arrived, I found the exterior to be soft to the touch, but the wallet itself feels substantial, and anything but flimsy. Empty, it’s about three times the thickness of my BigSkinny, but the wide footprint makes it very comfortable to sit on. It also had that wonderful leather aroma that reminds me of a tack shop. The four pockets were definitely tight, but that’s a good thing. It means it will mold to your cards, and retain them well. I was able to squeeze up to four cards in each, my drivers license and CCW cards in one, insurance cards in another, debit and credit card in the third, and the fourth holds membership and customer cards. They had to be wiggled into place, but they’re a bit easier to remove after the first few times. The slot behind the left cards holds my HAM licence well, and the right is great for emergency cash. The main cash pocket is quite large and deep, which is typical of this type of wallet. The one thing I miss from the BigSkinny is a thin divider for the cash compartment, which allowed me to separate larger and smaller bills for convenience. I guess older models of this wallet had a flap her, but it has since been omitted, presumably to cut thickness. For those who aren’t afraid to pay a little extra for quality items that will last for years, Saddleback is a no brainer.

WARNING: More than you expected!
OK, I just got the wallet and almost sent it back. Why? Because I thought it was the wrong size and color. I ordered it in Tobacco, and the product inside the packaging (clear plastic sleeve) was the Chestnut color. I measured my old wallet and compared the dimensions before ordering, yet the package I got was too big and stuck out of my jeans pocket. And there were two holes punched in a flap with a long piece of rawhide wrapped around the whole thing. Was this supposed to tie the wallet to my belt. No, I'll just send it back without opening it and order the next size down. For some reason I opened it, and to my surprise the wallet comes in a leather pouch that is similar to (but smaller than) the SBL cable bags (which I have and use all the time). The wallet itself is everything others have mentioned; a good, comfortable size, and just the right size for my stuff. The credit card slots are tight initially, bu working a few cards in and out of them repeatedly for a few minutes broke them in nicely. The billfold is deeper than I am used to but I expect I will get used to it and I don't see that as a downside. And it looks great, smells great, should last a long time, and will improve with age.My only regret is that you can't buy more of the leather pouches that the wallet comes in. The bonus surprise has turned out to be surprisingly useful and another one would come in handy!
