The Unfussy Citrus That Doesn't Try Too Hard
There is a certain performance anxiety that comes with most modern men's fragrances. The aggressive names. The black glass bottles shaped like artillery shells. The scent itself, often a belligerent cloud of synthetic amber and desperation. It is exhausting. Alvarez Gomez offers a quiet alternative. This is a Spanish cologne that knows exactly what it is and refuses to apologize for not being louder. The "Concentrada" label is truthful but modest. You get an immediate, honest burst of lemon and bergamot, the kind that actually smells like the rind was just twisted, not like a laboratory approximation of a citrus. Then comes lavender, then a soft, clean musk. The whole thing lasts a respectable few hours, which for an eau de cologne is the equivalent of a marathon. It does not announce you from across the room. It waits until someone gets close, which is precisely the point. Light, bright, slightly herbaceous, and thoroughly unpretentious. You could wear it to the office, to a summer wedding, or to a Sunday morning farmers market. It works for anyone who has grown tired of smelling like a niche hobby. The bottle is simple. The price is reasonable. The effect is a man who smells like he just stepped out of a nice barbershop in a civilized city. No one will ask you what you are wearing. And that is the highest compliment.

Makes The Phrase, "A Lemon," Mean Something Real Good!
I've purchased and used just about every citrus-based fragrance out there. 4711, Jean-Paul Farina, Tom Ford, Floris, Taylor of Old Bond Street, G.H. Trumpers, Balmain, etc. All are good and have their unique characteristics as far as the lemony aspect of their fragrances are concerned. However, they all have the same short life as far as silage and projection are concerned, but not this Alvarez Gomez rendition of a lemon-based fragrance. The lemon is strong, but not overpowering in any sense of the meaning, and its staying power (silage and projection) is astounding. Even as the silage and projection calm down and diminish, the after fragrance turns to a very light, and complex, lavender creamish base note, but, surprise of surprises, with an edge of the lemon aroma still present. Is this better than the other citrus/lime/lemon fragrances I mentioned above? Not necessarily. As said, they all have their unique and delightful points apart from all their other peers. But if you're looking for the best, most potent, long lasting lemon-based fragrance out there, Alvarez Gomez's rendition is at the top of the list. Also, I did not detect the presence of artificials and chemicals. It is quite natural to the nose. Being unisex, it really works for both men and women. It's not feminine for a man to wear, and not masculine for a woman to wear. That's rare for a unisex fragrance. For the price, Alvares Gomez lemon-based cologne is probably one of the best unsung values out there in this class of fragrances. Oh, by the way, it comes in a heavy glass flask, not plastic or cheap easy-to-break thin glass.

So-so, more for novelty
This is pretty nice, but there are other lemon-based colognes out there that are better and not much different in price (4711). I blind-bought this after viewing and reading different reviews. I can't say I'm disappointed, but I can't really recommend this either. It starts off with a MASSIVE lemon burst, one of the most potent I've ever smelled. There are similarities to lemon Pledge and other cleaning products, but only based on the explosive lemon. This lemon is, though, more natural and clean smelling. After 25-30min., it fades down by the introduction of herbal notes, none of which I can put my finger on. This part of the scent journey reminds me very much of lemon and eucalyptus-based mosquito repellents. In fact I smelled them next to each other, and almost identical. The main difference was that this herbal/lemon note is again, more natural and less synthetic smelling. You can really smell the natural ingredients in it, with less of that pungent mosi spray quality. Overall, you'll enjoy this if you like more pharmacy-type colognes, ones that could be found in a natural grocer or in aromatherapy-type store aisles. It's cheap to buy, and I have to say mostly a clean, refreshing scent. It would be good right after a shower or after having been on the water for the day. It's worth $20, but no more. Lasts about 2 hours, then little sillage left, hence the EDC strength. Very linear, with little change from top to basenotes. I'd give it a 5/10. One final thing to note: I purchased this from West Coast Shaving. Their customer service was great, however the first cologne had leaked 1/4 out, as other reviewers have noted. I contacted them, and they promptly sent me a replacement. Great, except that this one also had 1/5 leaked out. There must be an issue with either how that company is receiving the cologne from Spain, in which case they shouldn't be selling cologne that isn't full. Or, they aren't packaging it properly/ensuring safe transit. It's not a problem in-transit, but with the source. Just keep this in mind if you order from this company on Amazon; anticipate less cologne than you're paying for.

Discovered on a trip to Spain.
I first stumbled across this aftershave in Seville, Spain, when the hotel provided a small bottle complementary in the bathroom. I’ve been buying it every since, and it’s my favorite our favorite thing about it may be something that others don’t like, but it really gives you a shocking jolt to the face along with the pleasant sent.

The scent is really awful, hard to believe it’s made by Alvarez Gomez
This product smells nothing like any of A&G’s other products! Its scent is offensive, strong and doesn’t dissipate, think extremely elderly who no longer has sense of smell, or bought a cheap drugstore perfume that has spoiled over many years. Then there was the difficulty with delivery, I had to go to the US Post Office, because it was sent certified signature required, and it took almost a month for it to be sent. Really, and then stuck with an item that’s suitable for the garbage, no exaggeration. I even tried to give it away thinking it might be me, to realize it wasn’t and one friend thought it was so bad it must be a gag gift.

A pleasant & inexpensive cologne
I use this cologne daily. It has a pleasant, citrus smell that is subtle and not overpowering at all. An added plus is that it is economical to use.

Lovely splash of citrus
Such a great agua de colonia. It's a family gem, this one. It's very fresh and great for an after shower splash of citrus. I would not say that it has much longevity after you put it on, but I guess by its very nature, that's not its purpose. However, I have found that if you wear it regularly, the smell lingers in your clothes, which is quite nice. Not a very strong smell but it's recognisable. I have purchased this multiple times and think it's good value for money.
