Eventually got into this book
* Physical This book is printed on good quality paper and in a nice size of the font. in b&w and around 480 pages. * Target audience In my opinion, it ranges from a three or four GCSEs to A- level. * Whats covered then? Chapter1 Introducing the Rasberry Pi, Chapter 2 Downloading the Operating System, Chapter 3 Connecting Your Rasberry Pi, Part 2, Getting Started with Linux Chapter 4 Using the Desktop Environment, Chapter 5 Using the Linux Shell, Part 3 Using the Rasberry Pi for Both Work and Play, Chapter 6 Being Productive with the Rasberry PI, Chapter 7 Editing Photos on the Raspberry PI with Gimp, Chapter 8 Playing Audio and Video on the Raspberry PI, Part 4, Chapter 9, Introducing Programming with Scratch, Chapter 10 Programming an Arcade game Using Scratch, Chapter 11 Writing Programs in Python, Chapter 12 Creating a Game with Python and Pygame Zero, Chapter 13, Programming Minecraft with Python, Chapter 14, Making Music with Sonic, Part 5, Exploring Electronics with the Rasberry PI, Chapter 15, Understanding Circuits, Chapter 16, Taking Control of your Pi's Circuitry, Chapter 17 Lots of Multicoloured LEDs, Chapter 18 Old McDonalds Farm and other RFID Adventures, Part 6, The PART OF 10S Chapter 19 Ten Great Software Packages for the Raspberry Pi, Chapter 20, Ten Inspiring Projects for the Raspberry PI. * What's the best parts then? As I explained, the book varies from elementary parts to conditionally more difficult. It took me a while to engage with this style. But is covered with what you can see on YOUTUBE. I learned from this book and its at an introductory pitch. * Summary The book is good for the first exposure to this topic area. The book covers stuff you may or may not already know, some of this is a bit basic and repetitive, but it's useful overall. The programming parts are an explanation analysis of the pre-written code to guide you through it.

Good basic grounding in Pi
Tells you what's needed to get things up and running, and illustrates the basic features quite well. There are lots of terms used, which may put off novice users, but do describe the technology well.

This book covers practically all avenues of getting started with the Raspberry Pi.
The authors did a fantastic job introducing the Raspberry Pi platform and how to get started. The book covers all the initial setup and what to expect throughout the process. The book covers programming using both Scratch and Python, and does a really good job with clear and concise code samples. I would be hard pressed to think of anything a fledgling maker would want to cover that isn't in this book, its incredibly thorough. I reviewed most of the python code examples contained in this book, I was unable to find any faults with the example code. The introduction to Scratch was my first look at the platform, and was very informative! I think most kids will be able to understand the concepts easily, and should be able to adapt and learn from the examples given.

Another good dummies book!!
Only half way through...... it's not just reading but practical exercises that take more time. Typical of the "dummies" franchise, well written and easy to understand..... well done.
