Rostio Tank rust remover 1 Liter plus Tank-protection Emulsion Tank Sealing Set, Tank Rust Removal

I purchased this product to try and restore the fuel tank of my latest motorcycle restoration, a 1991 Kawasaki Zephyr 550. The bike had been sitting in some chaps garage, having last been used in 1997, so some 21 years ago. The tank still had the remnants of fuel swilling about in the bottom, and a lot of thick rust. After draining the tank, the amount of rust and debris that came out was considerable, I really didn't think anything was going to shift the thick looking rust. However, after finding comments on the Internet regarding Rostio, I went looking for it and found it here on Amazon. It arrived in less than 1 week, very well packaged (and including comprehensive instructions) from the suppliers in Germany. Having already flushed the tank out with water to remove as much of the loose debris as possible, I added the Rostio solution, and an extra 9 litres of hot water. I fully intended leaving it for 5 or 6 days as the rust was so bad, but after only a couple of days you could see that a lot of the rust had gone. The only issue I had was that the 10 litres of fluid was not enough to fill the tank, so you could now see a tide mark of rust. I considered what to do and thought that I would just fill the tank with more hot water, and despite diluting the solution, just leave it a few more days to see what happened. After 2 more days the tide mark had gone, as had the rust! I drained the solution out, and flushed through with plenty of cold water, having removed the bungs for the fuel tap and sender, so I could really get as much out as possible. I then popped them back in and added the Rostio sealer. I gave the tank a good shake around for at least 5 minutes, so all of the inside of the tank was covered and then drained it out. Having left the tank to dry for a couple of days, you can see that the surface of the inside of the tank looks like grey metal. There's no sign of the rust at all ! Overall, I'm very pleased with the product. The supplier was first class, the product easy to use, and the results better than I expected. I will most certainly use them again with whatever is my next restoration job!

Really amazing results. Had to buy second hand fuel tank for 30 year old bike but when came looked rather rusty inside. Cleaned out then applied this stuff for half day each way up (cos it didn’t fill the tank). And voila beautiful clean rust free tank. Applied emulsion so now sealed A few days on looking good as new. Also saved used mix and reused for another tank. Just wondering how far it will go. Great value does the job would highly recommend

Just follow the instructions and it works very well . Although not overly rusty my tank is now nice and clean with a greyish tint. Not being able to heat the solution just meant I had to leave it for longer but it still worked fine. Really pleased with the results and would definitely recommend this product.

Having tried another brand unsuccessfully I was pleased how well this worked. It came with a sealer to stop any leaks and further corrosion.

Before and after pictures attached to the review. I was absolutely surprised how good this product is. I just purchased a motorcycle and the only problem was the rust inside the tank. Bought this product, arrived faster with 4 days than expected. Is a german product but they attached an English translated guide on how to use it. My tank was terrible condition, i boiled some water in a big pot, mixed 2L of rust remover with 15L of boiling water (17L tank). Left it overnight then wash everything with water the next day and the result was amazing without even scrubbing. After that i poured 500ml of emulsion for protection, shake it well, drained it and left it 30 mins to dry out. If you come across this product don't hesitate and buy it with confidence. Really impressed

This kit comes in two parts, firstly the rust remover and secondly a bottle of emulsion type stuff to prevent the tank rusting up again. My bike had been breaking down due to rust particles finding their way into the carburettors. A previous attempt at fixing it with white vinegar hadn't worked so I tried this. My tank is 18 litres and the kit makes up to 10 litres. I filled it to 10litres overnight and covered the tank with a duvet over night. The next day, I filled the rest of the tank with hot water and left it again. It would have probably been ok the next day but I fell ill and had to leave it a few days. The rust had gone completely. A few rinses later and I put the emulsion in. Unlike other tank treatments, you don't have to dry the tank first. A few rotations of the tank later and it was done. I've yet to see how effective the emulsion is but I doubt if there is anything else available to the public that would do a better job.

I recently bought a 1979 Puch Maxi moped that hadn’t moved since 1990 but had been left with the tank only a quarter full. Obviously this had dragged moisture in and surface rusted the tank. I got this Rostio package after reading some translated German reviews and set to it. Drained the tank, bunged the tap hole, added the chemical and topped up with boiling water. You get enough to do a 10 litre tank but this one is only 3 and a bit so I split the mix into 3. Wrapped the tank in towels to keep the warm in as long as possible then drained and rinsed out after 48 hours. It did a good job but not quite enough so I repeated this 3 time’s and used all the mix. My second to last photo is the result before I added the protection emulsion. Great ! Added the emulsion to hole future rust back and we’re done. Top product, easy to use, translated instructions simple to follow. I’d definitely recommend and will use again 100% !

Efficace et simple d'utilisation

This Suzuki had been in a garage for 14 years. Removed tap and sender, made seals. Mixed 2 litres with 18 litres of very hot water and left for 48 hours. Emptied and rinsed however the roof of the tank still had some rust so mixed a half litre with 4.5l hot water, poured in and turned tank upside down (plastic bag over the filler neck and closed lid). 14 hours later, emptied, rinsed and emulsioned there is ZERO rust in this tank with an overall mid grey metal colour. Superb product. Follow the instructions, leave long enough and it will do the job.

Utilisation pour récupération réservoir mobylette Peugeot 103. Aaaaaah l'emblématique "pijot" 103, aussi emblématique que l'oxydation inévitable de son réservoir. Ce dernier était extrêmement atteint, vu que la mobylette était stockée dehors par son ancien propriétaire. Une couche de rouille et de dépôt d'huile 2tps très prononcée était présente. Il a donc fallu nettoyer le réservoir avant le traitement antirouille avec de la soude caustique diluée dans de l'eau bouillante, exactement comme le produit antirouille (laisser une nuit). Ensuite vient le produit acheté, tout pareil. Pour 1 réservoir de 3 litres dilution de 1/3 du produit anti-rouille dans de l'eau bouillante. Laisser agir une nuit. Le lendemain rinçage (plusieurs passes il faut que ce soit nickel ) et ajout aussitôt après rinçage du produit de protection de réservoir. Résultat un réservoir parfaitement propre et aux parois totalement débarrassées de toute rouille et impureté. Aucun aspect particulier ne permet de dire que l'intérieur du réservoir suite à l'ajout du traitement réservoir et réellement traité, on verra bien avec le tps mais au prix du kit, ne vous posez pas de question et faites vous plaisir
