Very sturdy, well made backpack. Material is strong, no worries about tears or fraying. Plenty of well thought out pockets and compartments. Zippers work great, even on the compression feature. It is harder to compact and zip, but it works as it should and doesn't bind up, you just have to squeeze it together with one hand while pulling the zipper with the other. Holds a surprising amount of clothes and electronics and toiletries. Everything you'd need for a trip has a spot if you pack it smart. I can fit a weeks worth of clothes easily. Straps are comfortable on shoulders, very well padded. Sits comfortably against your back as well once you adjust straps to your height. I love the feature of carrying it as a duffel almost, and bonus points, the pockets where those handles tuck into have tons of space to pack others things into as well. I like that it has straps for a jacket or blanket to be rolled up and buckled on the outside. The only con is that the bag itself is pretty heavy on its own. Once you pack it full, it's super heavy. Feels okay to wear as a backpack despite weight for me though. Putting it on or off when full is hard though because of weight. I wouldn't recommend it as an everyday backpacking backpack because of weight. It's exactly what I wanted to be a sturdy way to only have a carryon when flying that looks cool and not cheap-y.

What can I say, I fly weekly, this thing is tough, it looks fantastic, I can pack a week into it and not have to pay for checked bags. I love the option to have it be a backpack or a shoulder bag. Some days I don't want a backpack, then other trips I have it so heavy the carrying it as a shoulder bag is too much. Options, plenty of options. (Plenty of compartments to lose stuff in as well) Zippers are solid, weight is light till you start filling it then realize before you have it topped off you've exceeded the "personal item" weight LOL 100% would recommend and if this one ever wears out, I will buy another.

Everything about the pack I love. High quality from top to bottom. To begin, the canvas is top notch, durable and should last a lifetime. All of the buckles, straps, you name it are built to last and have a wonderful appearance. Awesome compartments that can more than handle my needs. Highly recommend.

The Witzman Canvas 3‑in‑1 Carry on Travel Backpack is a very nice backpack, seems very sturdy and nicely made, although the faux leather is a bit cheesy - I would have preferred the backpack to be all-canvas. The bag is very comfortable when used as a backpack, and it has a nice broad shoulder strap for use as a messenger bag (though it does not have the padded shoulder strap pad that many such straps come equipped with), and it also has a carrying handle for use as a suitcase-style bag - all very useful and each of these carrying straps hide away very neatly inside specially designed pockets. The bag was advertised as a "3-in-1" bag and it lives up to my expectations in that regard, as each of the carrying options work. The actual measurements of the bag when filled (I tested it) are 20" x 14" x 9": this is a little bit bigger all around than the manufacturer's stated 12.5" x 19.5" x 8", but even so, this works for when I need to use it as a carry-on bag, coming in under the vast majority of airlines' requirements for carry-on luggage. The narrow side is expandable to 10.5", so this will be useful when I'm travelling by car or rail. My other main consideration was that the bag has to carry a week's worth of casual wear, and at its non-expanded "carry-on" size the manufacturer states it has a capacity of 32 liters, and I think this will be adequate for my needs. The expanded bag, at 42 liters, offers a bit more room. The bag includes a specially padded laptop pocket, and while I bought it for my 16.4" laptop which I use when traveling, I was happily surprised to see that my 17" laptop (which I use in my home office) also fits - but just barely. The outside of the bag is made of heavy-duty cotton duck, which tends to expand when wet, offering some water resistance in the rain, but more importantly, the interior of the bag is fully lined in what looks to be waterproof nylon, so I suspect the bag will keep its contents fairly dry even if the owner gets caught in a downpour, with only the seams letting in moisture. The only downside of this sturdy construction is that the bag is quite heavy, but that's a minor issue, I think. The care tag struck me as interesting, as it has care instructions in English and German, and I thought it was kinda funny for the tag to include German language since the tag is clearly meant to be added only to bags for sale in the US. This indicates to me that the inclusion of the German care instructions is a marketing ploy, meant to disguise the fact that Witzman (a German name meaning "joker" or literally "joke man") is a Chinese brand. This suggests to me that the company is aware that many westerners have a prejudice against Chinese products, which used to have a reputation for poor quality - a reputation that is (generally) no longer deserved, in my view. Overall, this seems like a very nice travel bag and I expect it will become my "go-to" bag for vacations and casual travel. If anything happens to change my mind, I will update my review.

This is just what I was looking for to replace my 15yo or so Targus bag. This bag doesn't quite hold as much as my old Targus bag. But I did recently travel with it and it had enough capacity for what I was bringing. My Targus bag wouldn't fit under the airline seat, but this one did. There are straps on the side that let you cinch something to the bag. I used the to hold my sweater and winter coat as I walked through the airport. It was nice to be able to not wear them but know they were held securely by the bag. I have a 17" laptop and it fit in the bag. A bit tighter than I'd like, height-wiser, but I had no issue closing the bag. It fit. When I got the bag delivered and I picked up the box, the box was HEAVY! The bag is made of heavy duty canvas and is made to last. While it's fairly heavy, It was still OK to travel with. One thing I don't like about this bag is that the laptop compartment doesn't open flat. Not a big deal because my airport is lame and makes us take out all electronics bigger than a cell phone anyway. 😒 The other thing I don't like is that the bottom back compartment only has one zipper, so you have to zip it all the way around. I wish there were two opposing zippers on that compartment. The zippers appear to be of good quality. I like that the bag can convert to an attache style bag with tuck away straps and handle. Also, the color is beautiful. All in all, a good, high quality, heavy duty bag that ought to last me another 15 years.

I really like this backpack. I had this for 2 years and this bad boy holds all of my college classwork, my laptop, binders, or anything else you want to take with you it can fit it. Plus, it's definitely durable, it can hold up some good amount of weight. I have some wear and tear on it, but that is ok. The hook rings on the side (which i need to use) can be used to carry it on your shoulder, like a messenger bag. Lovely versatility. I'd say it's worth the money.

The backpack is a very good size for someone like myself. I carry notebooks, a couple of books, a laptop and a good amount of other supplies. It holds up. I like the amount of pockets as well. The backpack has a space for anything.

I at first got sent a used backpack, but after reaching out, they were quick to send me a replacement. So far, this has been a great bag for all purposes, including a conference trip I went on recently. Plenty large enough for trip packing, and shrinks enough for daily carry. I like the way it’s split, and bought a small cord case for extra organization. It’s a bit heavier than my old bag on its own, but that’s because of the high quality material used. The zippers feel amazing and are large so I’m not worried about ever accidentally pulling one off. Overall, great bag!

Super roomy, comfortable, and very stylish, which was the main draw of this bag over others. I got it as a birthday gift for my husband for an upcoming trip and he loved it. This is going to make traveling much more convenient.

Amazing backpack

Bought this as a carry-on for short trips. Holds 2 or 3 days worth clothes and night wear easily. Outer pocket holds iPad for easy access during airport security. Fits comfortably in aircraft overhead bin (although not sure about smaller aircraft like the CRJ series or Q400). I like it.
