I use them for a 13ft ocean kayak big game 2 which is a big wide heavy sit on top fishing kayak which sits bottom down on the dock grips. Once tightened and positioned the kayak sits securely on the grips and when the straps are tightened the kayak is securely pressed against the dock grips ensuring a solid firm hold of the kayak.I use them on thule wingbars with the t-track adapter which is included so they can be put on or off in seconds a tip is to position your kayak and the grips spending time to ensure the best position then mark the spot on the roofbars with a sharpie making the installs after that easy and fastOverall excellent quality as expected with thule and expensiveAre the worth it .... yes as it holds my expensive kayak secure and stops me having to transport it upside down on the roof bars
