Well Made and Durable, Razor Sharp
I recently bought the Henckels Forged Premio Knife Set but it was missing a couple knives I wanted, namely a serrated bread knife and a non-serrated utility knife. What a fantastic knife! I can't say enough good things about it! For years I used a cheap set of kitchen knives because I just didn't want to spend the money on a decent set. After using these, I wish I had taken the plunge sooner. They make prep work a joy!Henckels makes a few less expensive sets but they're not forged, which was a deal breaker for me. This was the least expensive set of forged knives that I could find, and they did not disappoint. They are just the right weight and feel solid in my hands. They are razor sharp too, I've never cut with anything like them. Plus, they're dishwasher safe.Highly recommended!

Excellent all-purpose knife
This knife is a one-stop shop for all amateur cooking needs. I purchased a very similar knife from Bed Bath and Beyond about 10 years ago for about $25. It was my go-to knife for all prep. Unlike other serrated "bread knives," this one works for all types of slicing because the serrations are not as pointy. It works on all veggies and is often more secure than a chef's knife because it bites into the food quickly. Works on soft tomatoes and never slips. After several years, I started honing the knife (using a serrated-knife sharpener) every several uses and it remained super sharp and effective. Another advantage is that it doesn't tend to cut unless you're using a slicing motion, which can be a protective feature for fingers. For no particular reason I decided to replace the knife (it's still sharp) and they didn't sell the same one, but this is the most similar. Initial experiences are just as good. The one thing you can't do with a slicer is rapidly cut up and down like a pro with a chef's knife, but most amateurs wouldn't risk that anyway. For such a good price, and such longevity, this knife is a best buy.

Great handles
I've bought almost the entire line of Premio knives. Normally I avoid serrated edges but they are appropriate on bread knives because they cut better and almost never need sharpening. This knife cuts with a vengeance! I favor crusty breads and this makes nice clean cuts with very little effort. I really like the Premio lineup because they are forged knives with great balance and really good handles that fit and feel good in my hands. The fit and finish is very good for the price range.I didn't rate it very high on "giftability" because the packaging is not very attractive. Didn't affect my decision to buy but it's a blister pack that you have to destroy to get the knife out.

Check Out Where It's Made
Henckels is an international brand, but from my experience there are 3 informal "Grades":1) "Made In Germany"2) "Made In India"3) "Made In China"The quality and price scale accordingly. The knife I got was a "Made In India" variety, which serves my needs well. The knife itself looks nice, is a good weight, and can cut bread. I'm happy.

Great knife
My wife has long been making her own breads. We've gone through so many bread knives, but none were all that great. Reading an issue of Consumer Reports they listed this as a great choice so we figured why not. Well, whether its her crusty bread or very soft bread it cuts through it with no effort, minimal crumbs and can cut them almost potato chip thin.We are really shocked at how great this knife is. It has a full tang, very sturdy with a nice weight to it. If we ever need another one we'll get the same one again.

Excellent and extremely sharp!
Extremely sharp and does an excellent job of cutting bread or whatever you need.I thought I would use it for cutting vegetables but find that I tend to use my new Henckels 5" blade instead for that.Highly recommend!

As sharp as promised, a joy for bread lovers!
Ordered this to complete a knife set. Forged Premio German stainless steel makes surgical work of loaves and admittedly the occasional tomato. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is that the black handle finish is slightly dull doesn't match the sheen of the rest of handles in the knife block.
