Do I need to remove the split pin ?

I'm not very certain I understand your question. I don't remember removing a split pin to install mine. So the answer will be NO. If something in the image appears to you as a split pin, then ignore it. By the way, it is solid kit.

can you change the wheel direction. From the photo it is pointing the wrongway as I want to fix it to the bottom right front end of gate facing me?

I spoke to the manufacturer who said "that's just the way the picture was made.". The wheels do definitely face forward, which is not what I wanted because it gave the false impression that it rotates 360 degrees like one of the answers to a question on this listing suggests.

can't remember but I would use screws appropriate to what it is being screwed to i.e. wood or metal

Can you set the direction of wheel to bracket? Looks 90 degrees out for my application.

Hi frank , the wheel comes set and in line with the back plate . However if your quite handy and have a strong enough spring compressor you could up clip the spring remove the shaft and turn 90 and replace.If it helps I bought a very heavy gate and the item is as described and does the job. Regards
