Smart, Practical, Reliable
Having just purchased a phone that supports Qi wireless charging, I was looking forward to the feature. True, I have plugged my smart phone at least once a day for 18 months and had not damaged the connector yet. I picked up the Nokia "Fat Boy" charger at Verizon when I got the phone. It's simply a plastic charger inside a cushioned pad. OK, but I was never certain that I had placed the phone "correctly" on the base. When I saw the Ghost100 that has "Droid" embossed on it, I had the same impression. The phone is WIDER than the base. How will someone with my coordination balance the phone on there perfectly and keep from knocking it out of alignment? Then, I saw reviews of the TYLT Qi charger, and read the instructions on their web site. "Put the bottom edge of the phone down in the charger, then lay the phone back until it is resting on the charger." Hmmm. I think that's something I can do!After a couple of weeks now, my enthusiasm has been confirmed. EVERY time I lay the phone down, it starts charging. Not once has it complained about alignment. Since it is standing up at a 45-degree angle, I can just touch the phone and get status without having to pick it up.I noticed two things. First, sometimes when my phone begins to charge, it makes a God-Awful sound and I say, "wow, I'm glad that isn't in the bedroom, or the wife would KILL me." Other times, it makes no sound. This is a function of the phone, not the charger. My guess is that the sound is connected to my "quiet time" setting. Since I DO employ quiet time, there is no need to have the phone in the bedroom. Second, from looking at the battery graph, it is clear that the TYLT charger get the battery to 100% and then shuts down. When the battery has dropped a little, it charges again.I have noticed that wireless charging definitely causes the phone to get hot. (When charging with a USB cord, the phone remains at ambient temperature.) On the wireless charger, the phone heats up to about 105 degrees. Definitely hot enough to notice. Of course, by the time the phone is near full charge, the temperature drops back down to ambient, so the phone is not hot when I pick it up the next morning. How "hot" is this? Is it "dangerous" to the phone? Beats me. I used the phone as a GPS for about 20 minutes today and noticed it reached 110 degrees. So, the phone can get HOT from apps, too. For me, the convenience outweighs potential damage to the battery. If it dies during the warranty period, I'll get a replacement. If it lasts two year, I will be eager for an excuse to upgrade to a new phone. It is not clear to me how the SIZE of the phone affects Qi charging. I have the Droid Mini, which is relatively small. I have read that the TYLT has "3 charging coils to accommodate different size phones." Short of cutting it apart, I have no way to verify that. It might be that Qi standards mandate where the charging coil should be located in the phone. Again, no idea. I guess the situation is that it works GREAT for me. If you get one and it doesn't work, be glad that you bought it from Amazon. No way will a tablet fit on this. (Do any tablets come with Qi charging?) Also, I stand mine up vertically. Have no interest in laying it on its side.I got the red one simply because it was less expensive than the other colors. Now that I have it, I kind of like the color.Am I happy with it? You bet. It is SO convenient to just drop the phone onto the TYLT to charge and then just pick it up when I want to go. People who diss wireless charging probably had similar attitudes toward automatic transmissions and microwave ovens. Once you've tried this, you won't want to go back!Would I recommend it? Also true.

Works ideally with LG G2, thumbs up.
Originally ordered a Tmvel T2 for my wife's desk. However, it kept cycling/blinking the charge on and off, so back it went. Fortunately, the TYLT Vu works ideally with our LG G2 phones, even with a Cruzerlite case, and unlike the Tmvel comes with a wall wart producing suitable amperage. It doesn't cause overheating, and seems to charge at the usual rate we get from our existing LG "hockey puck" wireless chargers, but with additional benefits. First, with the LG you have to place the phone pretty exactly for charging to take place. Not so with the TYLT -- just plop it down casually and charging commences without interruption. Second, the phone is tilted so you can readily see details of incoming calls and messages. I have it backed up against a solid device, allowing for a third benefit: the screen can be touched and thus the phone operated without having to remove it from the cradle. Used as a speakerphone, it makes handling calls truly convenient. Of course, for thumb typing it has to be removed from the cradle, but for short messages it works fine using fingertip tapping. It's just the right width, too, for handily removing the G2 (doesn't apply to smaller phones). Finally, it comes in an array of colors, including my wife's favorite flaming red, although unfortunately not white. In all, a real winner, with an elegantly simple and classicly modern style. Bottom line, a real winner with no drawbacks found so far except the clunky connecting plug for the wall wart wire. As to the wall wart itself, whether it hogs more than one plug space depends on the plug-hole layout of the AC socket being used; On our UPS, this isn't an issue. We're ordering another for use at my desk. I was leery that it might not work properly with the G2, so paid top dollar with Prime. However, G2 users can safely choose a cheaper source, as I plan to do next time..

Premium qi charger that works great, built well, and looks great!
I received this very quickly from amazon and it was packed very well. Before I purchased this, I read quite a few reviews and was really on the fence whether to buy it or not. Some reviewers say it gets their phone super hot and others do not have a problem. I think it depends on your phone's construction or whatever. I have a Sony Xperia z3v and it does not get hot on the charger. It gets warm...but no more warmer than surfing the net for a short period of time or talking to someone for like 10 minutes. In fact, it may not even get that hot. I know that this charger has 3 coils in it so that position does not matter. I think phones are getting hot because people slide the phone down on it and this may make the top coil activate when the middle one may be the one needed. So this causes the phone to get really hot. I put my phone so that it is straight up and down resting in the bottom of the charger. Then I tilt it back till the back of the phone touches the back of the charger. This way only the correct coil will activate; no sliding around. Also to note, it is charging through a plastic case I bought when the phone was new. Also, It charges my specific phone kind of slowly. I don't believe this is the chargers fault. Each phone has a different size battery so it may be quicker with other phones with smaller batteries etc... But I charge at night and when I wake up, so far, it has been fully charged. I estimate it take about 4 hours or so to charge from about 30ish percent. Maybe less time. Overall, I do recommend this charger and for the money, its pretty nice. I just did not want to risk it with some who knows what brand from who knows where. My advice, don't go cheap. Especially when phones are so expensive! My particular phone set me back $600! The old saying goes, "you get what you pay for", and I believe you get a nice quality product in this charger. Will be buying another around Christmas time for when my wife upgrades her phone to a qi certified phone.

excellent charger
I've been using this for about a month with my Samsung Galaxy S6.It work great. It charges quite a bit slower than a usb charger. Probably around 2-3 minutes to go up by 1% (charges faster at low charge levels). It does not overcharge the unit like some wireless chargers do. It doesn't make any noise. It doesn't make the screen go off and on at night when it stops/starts charging. I always wake up with a full charge. The phone does get warm (not excessively) when charging which is normal with inductive charging. I have a samsung clear cover on mine which doesn't interfere with charging or trap heat. It's very easy to position the phone on the charger. There is a green light on the charging unit which lights up when it is charging, and the phone makes a beep when wireless charging starts. You can position the phone portrait or landscape.I was concerned that the 45 degree angle would not provide enough tilt to easily see the screen of the phone as a night clock. This concern was unfounded and this set-up makes for a great night clock.

Me encanto!

Highly recommended.
This is my second Tylt wireless charger. I bought my original directly from the company when they first came out, and it has worked flawlessly ever since.I needed a second charger when I upgrade my wife and I to two new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 phones, both with cases. I tried one of the cheaper options found on Amazon.ca, but it refused to charge the phones with their cases on, and even had problems with an old Nexus 4 unless it was upside down on the charger. I returned the other charger, and ordered this one to replace it. It worked immediately, even through an Otterbox Commuter case. It may be one of the more expensive wireless charges, but it is very reliable and consistent. Complaints about the proprietary AC adapter are irrelevant to me since I leave the charger in the same place at home. Wireless chargers are made to leave somewhere convenient , so you can simply place your phone on it when it needs a charge or top up. I'll use the charger that comes with the phones if I travel, more convenient and compact.
