it works but the product could be better. I'm not sure its a problem with this ...
I bought this to use on titles but it does not work for that. It must be block letters, it works but the product could be better. I'm not sure its a problem with this product but more the technology hasn't been invented to make this work flawlessly yet.

I've just started using this but so far it works ...
I've just started using this but so far it works well enough. There are some problems with word recognition but nothing to difficult to fix. I got this to use scanning books to enter into my Kindle so I'll update when I've completed the job

DON'T BUY IT. Doesn't work well, and then they get you with the activation and licensing.
The software is slow and clunky, and the accuracy is low enough that there is no time savings involved, given how many errors need to be corrected. Also, beware that IRIS requires an activation code to use their software that is required for the pen. If you loose the code, you cannot continue using the software if you switch to a new computer and reinstall. This means your pen is gone forever. From their website:"Don't forget that it is the responsibility of each customer to keep their licenses and codes in a safe place, as for any other software. Losing your license also means losing the right of using the software."This is an especially sneaky and money grubbing position, especially because we are talking about a piece of hardware with support software, clearly designed to force people to repurchase and to kill any market for used products. Since the software is only good with IRIS pens and the only people who would need the software are people who buy the pens, there isn't a big risk of rampant piracy here. Moreover, if you own the hardware and the hardware is dependent on a particular piece of software, then to cut off access to the software is all but flipping a permanent off switch on something I bought out right (the pen itself).Anyway, don't buy it. It's a waste of money when it "works" and a bigger one when they won't let you use it anymore.

Much Easier Than A Lot of Writing
I really like this product. The software was easy to install. I would say eight times out of ten the scans perfectly and I use it swiping left (for lefties). I cannot get it to do a decent image. I do not know if it is me or the pen (reason for 4 out of 5). I find running the pen faster over the sentence instead of slower works best. It works with color lettering too, but darker ones. Large lettering is not a problem as long as the lettering is not taller than the pen tip on the page. It will not scan handwriting well in case you are wondering. Translation works good. It has a nice long cord but no case. Just the pen top. Notetaking for school is much faster now.

Too much time spent correcting the OCR
I'm really disappointed in the IrisPen 7. I had an earlier model and was quite happy with it. It didn't scan perfectly, but close enough that it didn't take long to make needed corrections. I've had the 7 now for a couple of months and I finally have realized that the problem isn't me, but the scanner. I'm constantly getting messages that I scanned too slowly or too fast, or not fluidly enough, and so they either didn't scan at all or scanned very badly. Also, it is hard to align the pen with lines on a page, so I often find that I've skipped a line within a paragraph. And when lines do scan, they're much garbled. I find myself just typing the lines I want to quote rather than taking the time to use the IrisPen. Ironic that the way I now save time is by typing rather than scanning. I doubt I'll ever risk one of their products again.

Great for college!
Worked really well. I used it while in college when i wanted to quote something from my book. Just doesnt work if the words are highlighted so just bookmark the page instead.

IRIS support
I purchased this pen thinking I was buying a refurbished one from IRIS, it arrived in a small box without any information or letter, which meant I didn't have an activation code. IRIS support very kindly sent me one.Ken Pope

Not suitable, need to return.
The Canon iRis Pen does not pick up all the words/letters/symbols which it is intended to do. Therefore, Amazon should take up this issue with Canon.
