Steel is my body... and fire is my blood Having spent the last ten years of his life studying under a mysterious sorcerer, Shiro Emiya has become a Magi, a sorcerer who has summoned a "Servant," a mystical female warrior of incredible power named Saber, to stand together in the ultimate test of sorcery and magic: the Holy Grail War. But Shiro's own feelings for Saber may conflict with their goal. To win the contest means to take the risk of losing everything, even as he also begins to empathize with members of the rival battleteams. While seven teams will enter the battle, only one will leave, and the winners will receive the prize of the Grail itself and their greatest wish granted. Will that wish be worth the price Shiro must ultimately pay?

rushed job but worth it
the edit was a rushed job but it is worth the money for fate fans because it answers some of the questions about archer that could only be found in reading the manga until now also it shows you what could of happen in fate stay night if things had played out different so if you a fate fan and don't mind that the edit is a rushed job like me i say buy buy buy. if you can stand rushed job edits i say still buy because it answer all them unanswered question about fate stay night that have bin rolling around in your head lol or just read the manga but buying this DVD sure saved me some time.

One thing I love about the Fate series
The animation series was a bit lacking in character development, plot and how anyone would act in any of the situations. However; this movie completed it and did it justice. One thing I love about the Fate series, mangas, graphic novels etc were that they have different stories, different lines and outcomes in the series, mangas etc which bring light to characters not mentioned alot and character development looks better as a whole. Visually this movie also was amazing.

Worthy to any Fate Stay Night fan
Before I tell you about the film, I must recommend that you watch the Fate Stay Night Series before you watch this film. if you haven't watched it then i would recommend that you watch it before you watch the film.As I have said before I'm my review for Fate Stay Night, the series is adapted form a Japanese PSP visual novel. As part of the game, the story actually has 3 story lines. The Anime follows the Fate story line. As the title suggests, the film follows the Unlimited Blade works Story line. The story itself is actual based on the notion that the viewer has watched the Anime, therefor shows the differences in the story line, leving the first part of the film events heverly edited with large chunks of the beginning being removed (which is why to watch this film you need to see the anime first). However, from the middle part of the film onward its lessens as the Unlimited Blade work story lines reach its pinicle and ultimately its conclusions. These parts of the story are very good and worth the watch for any fans of the Anime.Visuals are notably better then the ordinal anime (since the anime was 2006 and the film was 2010). The Highlite of the film however is the fights which are far superior to the anime. The last fights, particular Shiro vs Archer, were literally breathtaking and found myself on the edge of my set. Most of the main english cast from the Anime return, with Liam O Brian (Garra- Naruto) and Sam Riegel (Jude- Tales of Xillia) doing a spectacular performance as Archer and Shiro respectively. The only big difference is Saber who is voiced by Michelle Ruff (Rukia- Bleach) this time rather then Kate Higgins (Sakura- Naruto) who voiced Saber in the Anime.Overall a worthy watch for any Fate Stay Night fan, but i would recommend to everyone else that you watch the series before the film since you would get confused by missing parts of the story.

The Fate series is amazing!
Overall this series stand out points were the cliffhangers and revelations in the first half, great battles and back story episodes. Also a masterfully directed final battle sequence. I think the creators, Studio Deen, managed to adapt the source material enough with the aid of the universes creator Kinoko Nasu.

Animation, fight scenes all good. Story..... not so much.
If I was one of those die hard Fate fans, I would give this movie 5 stars. But, as a honest reviewer should, I need to point out the flaws. So, here goes:This film adapts the "Unlimited Blade Works" route of the original Fate/Stay night visual novel, which details Shirou Emiya, our main character with the biggest "I wanna be a superhero" fantasy I have ever seen, as he gets involved in a bloody conflict called the Holy Grail War, a battle which involves seven magi, or mages, chosen to become the Masters of 7 Servants, the spirits of heroes past and future brought back to fight to the death over the Holy Grail (well, duh), a divine object that will grant any wish. Shirou, who can't really be called a magus due to the fact he was not trained by his father who died before he could, gets dragged into this after he accidentally summons the strongest Servant- the stoic, honourable, invisible blade wielding woman- Saber. After he is educated in what he has gotten himself into, he decides to fight to ensure the Grail does not fall into evil hands. He is joined by Rin Tohsaka, another Master with loads of experience as a Magus and a feisty attitude, and her Servant Archer, who takes a very cynical view on Shirou' s ideals to save everyone and dismisses them as the naive fantasies of a child. This film then follows the development that takes place between Shirou and Rin, and Archer' s connection to Shirou, which turns out to be very deep.....Characters: Great and entertaining..... except Shirou. His "I want to save everyone" attitude and recklessness gets on my nerves, but he does get better as the film goes on.... but not enough to redeem himself. I loved Archer, his attitude, his design and his general "boss-ness". To quote an internet meme, I am GAR for Archer. But Saber still remains as my favourite character in the whole of Fate, but you can't really see why in this movie, so I won't go into details.Animation: Well, better than the TV series. You can tell this film had a bigger budget. The lighting is better, the art is of higher resolution, the animation itself is more fluid: just better overall. Doesn't hold a candle against Fate/Zero, but that's another series, so I won't talk about it.Story: Okay, here's where I need to get down to the point. I did not have much trouble following it, but that is because I am familiar with the series. The story is a complete honest mess if you are not though. They don't give a thorough introduction to the characters, they condense about 5-6 20 minute episodes into 20 minutes, and just throw everything in front of us with the attitude of "Here you are, don't give a llama' s bottom, understand this". Very infuriating and confusing if you do not follow the series. Conclusion: I enjoyed Unlimited Blade Works, but I know for a fact first time Fate watchers will not have a clue what is going on. So if you are looking to buy this for a quick watch to save yourself about 25 episodes of the TV series, I honestly recommend the TV series. Then come back and watch this. For those just looking for a one time movie watch, definitely go elsewhere. All in all, 3 stars.

Must own for collectors!
If you’re into Fate Stay Night enough to want all the versions you’ll be glad to have this :). Honestly, the story fares better in both the series versions, but it’s kinda hard to compare a film to a series in that regard.

Great title from Sentai Filmworks as always
Finally after more than 5 years we get another dub for the FATE series. In the past ADV dubbed the original 26 episode series Fate/ Stay Night and after going bankrupt, Funimation picked up the series only for distribution purposes (they only sold the series, not re-dub it) and the supplies were limited. Now after many years, Sentai Filmworks come out of nowhere and release the movie which follows the alternative route (Unlimited Blade Works) of the visual novel. Most on of the original cast of voice actors return and it does sound like the original (though personally I would have preferred if they got better VA for some characters). The script is slightly modified with less cursing and some changes to certain one-liners but the Jap. version is also on the disk so feel free to watch it with subs if you want a harsher language. The image quality is great, true HD 1080p on blu ray and looks fantastic. Not many extras on this other than some trailers of other shows from sentai though :(Overall I'd say its a good movie, it is somewhat rushed at the start, but if you seen the original FSN, then you will feel right at home with this one. Me being a huge FATE fan, I cannot take points off for the voice acting since they went out of their way to gather most of the original cast back after so many years and I also cant deduct anything for the slight script alteration (since it happens with all the dubbed anime), plus you can always watch it in Jap. if you want. Therefore I give this release a 5 out of 5 stars and I hope that we see more future FATE releases from Sentai~
