Whitetail Institute Imperial Clover Food Plot Seed (Spring and Fall Planting), 4-Pound (1/2 Acre)

Our yard is very shady with large trees (with large roots). Over the past few years the grass has been slowly dying, even the "heavy shade" variety. Started over-seeding with this clover and after one year the yard looks great. It grows in about 2 weeks and is a bright shade of green. It handles the shade well, better than grass for sure. No deer in our area but it turns out this clover is very popular with rabbits. We're in the upper midwest and seeding in early-April had the best results. Originally tried in late-summer to fall and didn't get much growth. The clover seeds from April were growing everywhere by May though.

I planted these seeds in April, after clearing a patch in the woods. Not a whole lot sprouted after a few weeks, so I planted more seeds in the same area. Maybe a little less than half the area sprouted, and the sprouts are still quite small. I put lime and fertilizer down, like the package instructed. The PH also checked in at about 6.5. I also seeded "test" areas in other places to see if results varied (no germination there). Not sure if I did anything wrong, but I think I will just pick up some purple top turnip seeds from the local Farm store, as they worked better and continue to grow after evidence of grazing. Update 7-22-2021. Very little growing, if any. Won't purchase this again.

This clover mix did exactly what I expected: it attracted deer quickly and provided a reliable, high‑protein food source. Once established, the plot grew dense and green, even under repeated deer browsing, and seemed to support good herd nutrition and regular deer activity on my property. The seed is well formulated.

Waste of money grew nothing
