Works great for blind people to be able to use their Apple TV with their Bose smart sound bar
Let me say first that I’m visually impaired. I have a Bose smart sound bar 600 and an Apple TV unit and I wanted to be able to pair my Apple TV with a Bose smart sound bar, but you can’t connect them directly. You have to have an EARC port like what comes with a television, but if you’re not using a television, you need an audio extractor like this their audio extractors that use optical and you can do that and it works great, but they don’t play in Dolby Atmos. This device allows you to be able to pair your Apple TV with your Bose Smart sound bar and get Dolby Atmos signals through to the sound bar it sounds absolutely great. I recommend this product to anyone who would like to do that great product.

Works as advertised
Tried several other extractors to tie together my TCL TV with EARC, Sony Surround headphones and Sonos Arc soundbar. This one works exactly as it should and I am able to get all surround formats to work on the Sony and Sonos. Other devices would downmix some formats to 2.1 stereo or not even work at all.

Didn’t work with Sonos beam gen2
It didn’t work with my Sonos beam gen2 at all. No sound after trying everything. I left several messages for customer support but no one called back so I am returning it.

Overall works well, maybe Disney+ issues?
Bought to get 5.1 surround from a Google TV Streamer to an old dumb TV and a Sonos Beam gen1. It works for Amazon Prime but Disney+ is still giving me Dolby 2.0. Still troubleshooting but I think the Orei isn’t playing well with Disney+. Also it’s a little finnicky, need to jiggle the HDMI connections sometimes. Besides that, works as advertised!

If it doesn't work, try enabling/disabling the arc/earc button in the front.
I use this device to connect my Apple TV, Sonos arc sound bar and my Samsung TV that doesn't have eARC HDMI. At first, I thought it didn't work and got to contact customer support because the device was not passing surround sound, only stereo. After explaining my setup they indicated to not enable the ARC/Earc button in the front. Something that was against my Audio Engineer instinct and the reason why I never thought about it as a possibility. But this was the solution. I am not able to try Dolby Atmos with my Apple TV but this is a limitation on my Apple TV device that doesn't support it. Only Apple TV 4K will have this option. All in all, great device at an affordable price. Very good size, so I was able to place it behind the TV. Super simple to setup.

Signal drops when used with RTX3090TI GPU on PC
Here is my setup NVIDIA RTX3090TI HDMI out to OREI eARC 4K and from there out to my soundbar and to LG HDMI 4K Monitor. Unfortunately, this device fails to work with this setup. It does display video feed and sound to the soundbar but there seems to be timing issues with the signal where the 4K LG Monitor will flicker to black multiple times before it starts working again. I tried to connect it with different HDMI cables that support the signal but no luck. This device might work with Bluray player or gaming console but as far as it goes for PC and GPU support it fails. I ended up finding another device that seems to work without issue of dropping signal. Can be found under this code B0F62S348K here on Amazon. I decided to return this one.

Works on windows pc
My intended purpose on this is for soundbar to be used on pc and worked perfectly. soundbar is ultimea and connected to hdmi supports 4k other end hdmi soundbar is also 4k hdmi to soundbar. at first no sound pressed the earc button it worked. the orei is detected as a device in windows and should be set as default. dolby software must be set dolby atmos home theater. No issues even on non dolby atmos content it is reverying back to dolby surround for non atmos.

No judgement on the item.
I can't comment on this as it didn't do what I needed, which was to duplicate a TV's eARC so I returned it, hence the 3 stars as I couldn't really judge it's performance.

Awesome sound on my Bose Soundbar
I kept thinking all this while that my HDMI input on the Bose soundbar was not working. I was connecting it directly to my PC. Thanks to chatGPT, I figured out about this whole eARC thing and sound separation. This extractor works like a charm. I connected it, and boom! way better sound than my earlier optical connection. If you want to project sound to a soundbar (which supports only ARC/eARC input), this is a good solution.
