Marpac 600a Marsona Ds-600a

of refreshing, relaxing, recuperative sleep this device has brought me. Bought it my first one many years ago while I was working a 7 day- 12 hour night shift and found sleeping during the day was difficult due to neighbors, their kids, the trash collection trucks, etc., etc. This machine masks many of the normal sounds one hears entering your home and disturbing your sleep or your concentration for reading or studying. I still have that first one after 15 years, and it is still working well. Since my retirement, I have become bi-coastal, and this purchase is for the the summer home so as not to have to lug the other back and forth. There may be other sound machines that will do as good a job, but when I found one that worked, I decided to stick with it and buy another. Highly recommend.

I have used sound machines for about 30 years and this is the best one ever. It's very compact compared to some and there is a volume control underneath it that makes it very very loud if it is turned up all the way. It can almost drowned out slamming doors in a hotel, which is one of the reasons that I have it. The company that makes this product is very reputable and it's always been responsive when I've had a problem with one of their units, which is rarely. It makes other sounds but I only use the white noise one. It is well worth the extra money, and it also can take batteries, which last about two to three nights.

Many years ago, probably as many as 40 years, when going through a problem period and unable to sleep because of outside noises, I bought an earlier model at the old Montgomery Ward store near where I lived. It was a godsend! I was able to go to sleep and stay asleep. Not long ago, I bought an updated model, the one shown here, to replace the original one which still worked as well as new. Same results! I would not even attempt to do without it. I would recommend this device to anyone with sleep problems.

I am 50 years old and have never submitted a review for any product in the past. I have used TV static to sleep for the last 20+ years and loved it because it could be turned up as loud as I needed it. The last TV we had with audible sound just completely died and I couldn't sleep. I purchased a Dohm round sound machine, and it worked somewhat, but wasn't loud enough to block out all sounds. This machine is WONDERFUL & VERY LOUD!!!! It's loud with the volume turned all the way up. If you prefer less sound, the lower volume levels approximate the Dohm machine. I can finally sleep like I did before the TV broke!! It literally saved my life giving me my typical sleep back!

This is supposed to be an improvement on the 600 model. It's dreadful. Wish they would go back to the older sounds. Also, I can hear the sounds looping. The clips area way too short.

We have had the Dohm-DS Dual Speed Sound Conditioner by Marpac (formerly known as the Sleepmate/Sound Screen 980A)for years and love the sound that it generates, I just wish it could be louder! So I bought this one after seeing other reviews that this could actually be LOUD! I am not that interested in any of the other sounds it makes, just the white noise for sleeping. And the volume control does let it get very loud! However, as with any sound machine that uses a recording and is not actually generating the sound itself, there is a distinguishable loop... I had hoped this model would be different somehow, and although I am noticing the loop now, I am hoping to become used to over time.... But for anyone with a sensitivity to picking up the break in the loop, this might not be the best product. Also, the white noise from this one is a bit shriller than I am used to with the the Sound Screen 980A.... but I am hoping to get used to that too. The Sound Screen 980A actually produces the sound itself, so there is no loop! And the tone can also be adjusted, which is very nice. If only the sound could be made louder, it would really be the perfect product. We'll see how this one works out for the next few weeks, but it might be back to the Sound Screen for me.

I bought this to mask the building noise that infiltrates my apartment. While it does not cover over the electrical hum from nearby generators, it does help to filter out hallway noise, traffic, loud talking next door, and blowers. The range of sounds are pleasant; I'm surprised at how the lake sounds with crickets have enhanced my sleep, making me feel more peaceful and rested. The surf sounds are also nice and very authentic (I'm from California and they remind of stays on the beach). I'm actually purchasing a second unit with the tone setting to see if it will work in the room where I hear the generator hum; this unit will be perfect in the back area of my apartment. I highly recommend it for a room situation where you don't have a ton of noise to mask and are looking for effective sound conditioning. Also, the volume on the unit can go extremely high; I have a large two bedroom apartment, and at just 25% volume, it completely fills the unit with sound. It's a sonic powerhouse. I also like the retro design. Simple, clean, functional, pleasant.

This is the second Marsona DS-600A I have purchased. I have one in each bedroom. I really like this machine because it is so adjustable in volume. I like to use it when we travel, as it really blocks the noise in hotels, and allows me to sleep deeper. It is sturdily made and is worth the few extra dollars in price.

Excellent & soothing sound machine, with very good selection (rain, surf, babbling brooks, etc). Really great for getting you to relax & sleep at night.

Came exactly as described, feels like a well made product with some nice sounds...thunderstorm is quite nice as well as my favorite white noise!!
