Marsona 1288A Programmable Sound Conditioner

The tone adjustment is the key feature on this unit. I bought this after the other Marsona unit failed to completely mask an annoying electrical hum in my building. The ability to adjust the tone to counterbalance the levels of competing sounds is absolutely key. I am so happy with this Marsona! The range of sounds is pleasant -- you have TWO surf sounds, which are both very peaceful -- and I like the overlays, which upon initial reading might seem weird but create a naturalistic sound scape. You can have the surf sounds joined by the occasional seagull and gentle clank of a buoy in the background. The volume can be turned up super loud; I can easily hear the unit on low-medium in every room of my two bedroom apartment. I have also been surprised at how much more peacefully I sleep with the lake sounds feature. I highly recommend. If you are torn between this and other Marsona without the tone adjustment, I would recommend this one over that unit because the tone and sound overlay feature of the Marsona 1288A are well worth the extra in pricing.

I have used a Marsona 1200A almost every night for over 30 years; the only exception is a smaller sound machine I have used when I was traveling. The Marsona 1200a was starting to sputter a bit intermittently, so I decided to look for another machine. I tried Conair versions, Dohm versions, etc, but they didn't even come close to what I was used to so I ordered this newer version of the one I already had. IT IS FANTASTIC!! I actually only use the white noise at a deep tone and I turn it on fairly loudly. The ability to vary the tone and increase the volume to more than just a mild whisper is why I recommend this machine over almost all others. The only other one that comes close to this is the LectroFan-Fan Sound and White Noise Machine, but it only offers those sounds. For me that is perfect, but others may enjoy the nature sounds the Marsona 1288A offers. If you like depth of tone, rain, waterfall, frogs, etc and the ability to turn the machine up to drown out noise, don't waste your time or money looking for anything else. This machine is the PERFECT solution!!

The selection is good and realistic the 'critters" are perfect especially with the second setting where youcan add them to the main selection. The speaker could be better quality, especially for the cost.The sound control should be a proper rotary dial with 270 degrees of rotation for fine adjustment,the slide volume is a pain in the ass, almost impossible to get perfect the first or third try for thatmatter.

The first one I received was malfunctioning. It only had a very loud setting. The company replaced it and the replacement is working perfectly. We prefer the sound of Marsona over other white noise machines and have used their products for 30 years!

I recently purchased my second Marsona 1288A Sound Conditioner. The first works great but I travel frequently and found it much easier just to buy a second unit for traveling. If you are like me and have to have white noise or some other sound to sleep and want a top of the line unit, this is the unit for you. The price may seem a little high, but the unit is made to last and I do not experience the same problems with the Marsona unit that I have had with other units. For example, other units have had problems with interference causing static. Another unit that I purchased even had a timer only and could not be turned on for longer than an hour. These problems are non-existent in the Marsona 1288A. It can be turned up to a loud volume to mask snoring, traffic, and other noises. It's truly the top of the line sound conditioner that is made to work well and last long term.

The Marsona 1288A was ordered to replace a Marsona 1200A that I used for over 30 years. The filter capacitors finally died and extreme static interrupted the night and my sleep. The new Marsona is much smaller and seems to work very nicely so far. It has new overlay sounds and hopefully will provide the same longevity as the old 1200A model. This device is TERRIFIC and I recommend it to my friends frequently!When I received the new Marsona 1288A, I was very surprised that it wasn't packed with any shock absorbing or protective material. It was only in the original flimsy cardboard box! I was very surprised it arrived in one piece and wasn't visibly damaged. Electronic equipment should NOT be shipped in this manner in my opinion.

This item did not work. It appears to have been sent to me broken. It shuts itself off. It is a non functioning item. I would not purchase from this seller again. I would not purchase this item again

If you've ever entered a doctor's office and heard ambient, white noise in the waiting room, it is usually a Marpac white noise unit, but not this particular unit. This one produces a host of other sounds, along with "overlay" sounds that can be added to the base sounds. The base sounds are fine - though I wonder how many people will find crickets chirping, or thunder relaxing. That said, these are merely personal preferences and don't affect my review. The overlay sounds can be mixed so that you might have a thunder storm mixed together with the sounds of loons - conjuring an image of wet birds in a downpour. You can also have the sound of a running brook together with the occasional clang of a buoy - this is just odd. The point? The overlays are unnecessary to me and add little additional value. As for the sound quality, the speaker in the unit isn't terribly sensitive and, though there is a sliding button to balance base and treble, differentiation is relatively poor. However, Marpac is an industry standard, and if the price is right, it's no worse than anything else on the market, perhaps a little better, since on this unit, one can add their own auxiliary speakers from the rear jack. But this begs the question as to whether its simply better to use a cd player and environment sound recordings or an mp3 player or ipod with these same sounds uploaded. You'd certainly get better sound quality than on any dedicated sound unit I've seen.

The media could not be loaded.  This is so good for the ears and mind. It’s so natural ! Unlike apps or YouTube recording. As ENT specialist would call it - the doctor’s tool for the ears. Anyone with problem sleeping or tinnitus can try using this. Even without any issues, it’s still good to put one into deep dreamland. Highly recommended.

This is the second one that we own...very good quality...travels well in a suitcase...highly recommend it for travelling.
