Absolutely works
This camera works as expected. If you think a Raspberry Pi camera will be useful for photo shoots, this is not the camera for you. If you set your expectations to be a dependable camera for your Raspberry Pi, then you will be happy.

Can't do long(er) exposures
Bit annoying that the camera won't do any exposure longer than about 0.1s... I'd love to use this sensor board for longer exposures, when I do it, it sends back an image that is clearly not 0.5s... Other than that, its an okay sensor board, quality is a little below the average of all of my sensor boards, it is also cheaper than average.3/5 the software lies

Fast Frame Rate Camera With Wide FOV
TL; DR; Full 60fps on Linux testing; handy manual; includes USB; interchangeable wide angle lensI’m in the process of upgrading my web cams and since they stopped making web cams in favour of proprietary cloud cams I’m more or less brewing my own. This camera is a notch up in quality if you are looking for fast frame rates > 30fps and it has the feature of an interchangeable lens which makes for a bit of fun. Putting this on linux with V4LX really improved the tear and lag in the video feed vs what I was seeing on my Mac but in both cases it was pretty much plug and play. I verified resolution and frame rate and packed it up although I did try it in some lower light situations and it seems to do OK there also.I appreciate that the USB cable is not soldered to the board and has an obtainable connector in case you need a longer USB cable. Perhaps a USB-C connector would have been a better choice though.I’m not sure if this is a great value or not given the fully integrated cameras that are out there for the same price but for me it’s far better than Bob’s excellent “we won’t let you down” cloud service.5 Stars but be aware of what you are buying it is a kit of parts.

Plate reader. Probably better with programmer
I got this for a Pi to test license plate reading, but used it on a new laptop first. i3-1220P, 12 gigs RAM.At the same position as home surveillance camera, during day, it sort of works. Wider FOV gets entire front view, but fisheye kills the edge view some. Center view is clearest and does a better job at reading plates when stopped. Moving cars still aren't perfect, but better on this module. Cars are about 35' away.

Good Module for Highly Illuminated Environments. Microscope or Planetary Imaging
IFWATER 60fps Global Shutter USB Camera Module with 170Degree Fisheye No Distortion M12I am familiar with the Aptina0144 sensor and I have a monochrome version of this sensor.Dynamic Range:The first thing I notice right off the bat with the Aptina0144 sensor is it has lower dynamic range than other sensors I have tested. Bright whites tend to blow out easily and shadow detail can be lost. To help combat this issue, the onboard programming has good features like exposure adjustment, backlight compensation and contrast. The onboard programming also does a good job making automatic adjustments.Chromatic Adaption:Image sensor has both good chromatic adaption and color uniformityGeometric Artifacts:Becuse of the wide angle of the lens, you will have narrowing of objects to the left and right of the image. The image sensor uses a global shutter which is great for fast moving objects like propellers.Frame rate:The image sensor easily attains 62.5 frames per second in well illuminated settings; however, in darker environments, the sensor will automatically increase its exposure and drop the frame rates to as low as 4 frames per second. It's a fast frame rate sensor, and it should be used in well illuminated environments. I wouldn't use for a dash cam or other low light security applications.Noise:I consider the level of noise in this sensor to be moderate. Image stacking can resolve this. This image sensor could easily be used to watch a well lit room. With the lens, you have a good field of view. Personally, I think this sensor would perform exceptionally well in a microscope or telescope environment. This sensor has a fast frame rate and could be easily used to take stunning images of the moon and planets. The amount of frames that can be captured in a short amout of time can effectively cancel out the atmosphere.Overall, I am a fan of the Aptina0144 sensor. It is priced well and can be a cost effective solution to many well illuminated projects. I recommend this sensor.

Great
This Camera Module is wonderful. Good size and has great quality. Very surprised at the quality is has. Very easy to use and works great for what I needed it for. I believe it is very clear and crisp at capturing still and moving. Very satisfied with this and for the price is a great camera. Have seen more expensive camera module with less quality than this. I would recommend this one.

Not bad, some problems.
I was interested in this because of the ARO144 sensor, which can reportedly capture fast-moving scenes well. This particular unit could be better for that. If the scene changes moderately quickly, it takes a measurable amount of time to adjust. This may not be a problem with the sense, as there seems to be some problem with the USB connector on the board, I haven't had a chance to put it on my bench yet to look into this more closely. But it's certainly a possibility. I noticed that another reviewer had a positive experience, so this may just a bad board.

Great at capturing clear moving video
I tested this against several other small cameras like this, and this one captures moving video much clearer than most. The 60fps is the key. It's not 1024p, but then in most applications for these, you really don't need that. In some situations, I would rather get clear blur free video than that LITTLE extra definition.Like most of these, it's plug and play. Plug into any USB port, fire up a camera app and you're taking pictures. It's that simple. I would recommend this for any application where you are taking fast moving video.
