Nearly perfect!
I have a hard time liking radio controlled clocks. This thing is MUCH better than nearly all of them. It's extremely well engineered and constructed. Memory clock, as far as this one is concerned at least, only means that the display can be uncluttered. There's a switch for full display or for only the bare essentials. I'm not that senile yet, so mine is always operating in full display mode. Consider it to be a really nice radio controlled (atomic) clock with indoor temperature and forget about the "memory clock" part, if you're like me. The display is huge, by the way. I like the switch and button layout on the back - it's much more intuitive and logical than most of these clocks. The snooze button serves two functions: If you tap it, it "snoozes". If you hold it down for a full two seconds, it turns the alarm off completely until the next day. It's great because it doesn't silence the alarm for the full two seconds as you're holding it, so you'll know you held it long enough. The switches and buttons in the back are very well labelled, and aside from that, there's almost never a need to mess with them. I'm in Delaware and it's a very tough place to get the time signal, probably barely better than Florida or something. (It's transmitted from Colorado.) This clock has absolutely no trouble getting it and is better than any other clock I've had. A small dislike here: It seems to get the time 4 times a day in 6 hour intervals, which is a little unconventional. It's ultra-longwave, so it's virtually impossible to get it in the daytime. As a result, if you want to make sure it got the time, you have to look at it first thing in the morning before it fails during the day. I completely disagree with the reviewer who thought it dimmed too much. When the nightstand light is on, it's super bright! You could almost read it from across a street! When I turn off the nightstand light, after about a second or so, it dims way down. It's still perfectly easy to read from the bed without glasses and it's dim enough to not bother me trying to sleep at all. I love it! As far as I'm concerned, it's one of its best features! As I mentioned, the engineering and the construction is topnotch! I don't expect this thing to ever break! The back up battery is a very large, very common watch style battery, by the way. I have yet to have the power go off or I would report on it. From seeing how well the clock is engineered, I'll bet it keeps the clock running and the alarm working, but blanks the display to conserve the battery. I'm really glad I chose this one. No nonsense!

Finally an atomic dementia clock! The best so far for seniors. Needs a couple of design tweaks.
One year update: Temperature display stopped working (stuck at 79 even with a power cycle), doesn't reliably get the Atomic Time signal for several days so fails to update for Daylight Savings Time. Taking off 3 stars from my original 4 stars. Finally an atomic dementia clock! The best so far for seniors.I wanted a clock that set itself automatically and spelled out the day and date so I could easily comprehend them in my morning "fog". None of the other clocks for seniors I looked at set themselves automatically to the NIST time signal which allows it to automatically adjust for daylight savings time. It is easy to set up (put the backup battery in first). The clock's backlight is even across the face and it is easily readable in a bright or dim room. It automatically dims significantly in a dark room. Instructions are clear, comes with backup battery though the instructions are written for a battery that is already installed. The battery comes in its own little plastic bag and you have to install it which is easy to do. It is about the size of your average atomic clock (7 inches high and 8 1/2 inches wide), but a good size to read in a normal sized room from 10-15 feet away. Time digits are 2 inches high, day of week 3/4 inch high and month & date is 1/2 inch high so not exactly Jumbo if you hang it on a wall as I have done but a reasonable size. It has a battery to backup the time keeping functions if power is lost, but it must be plugged in to A/C to use.The only downside (reason for 1 less star) is the power connector shows if you hang it on a wall. It is a fine clock if you set it on a shelf but on a wall a cord about six inches long dangles off-center out of the clock with a fat 1/2" X 2" long inch connector on it for the power supply to plug into. You can't hide it if the clock hangs on the wall as you can't really tuck it behind the clock because it is quite thick and tilts the clock at an odd angle. I have mine hanging above a wall mounted TV so I just lowered the clock until the power connector dropped behind the TV. They could have had the power supply directly plug into the clock which would only leave the thin power cable showing. Other than that it is a fine clock that has atomic time setting ability which seems hard to find on any other clocks for seniors. What would make it better is to really make a wall clock version without the fat power connector that is really "Jumbo" with 1 or 2 inch day and date.

A little pricey but a VERY nice clock
This is a REAL nice clock with a large, bold display. I placed it in my equipment rack next to my big screen TV and I can see it anywhere in my living room. Heck, I can see it from my kitchen! I like that I can turn off the temperature display because I placed the clock on top of my DVR in the equipment rack, and the heat from the DVR throws off the temperature by several degrees. My only complaint is in regard to sloppy programming. On today's date, in July, the word "July" is on the far left of the screen, while the date and year are on the far right of the screen. I realize they had to leave enough room at the bottom for longer letter months, like December. However, they could have easily programmed the months to advance right to left instead of left to right. That way, the month, date and year could all be together like is normally displayed or written.
