Ideal for motorcycles. Use as a disk lock, or round a frame part to a chain on ground anchor. They are well pick resistant and smooth to operate. Physical damage is limited to angle grinder.Buy two, chain your bike to a ground anchor, and the other to the disk. Put one on the other disk if you want. Still cheaper than one expensive U lock and equally frustrating to a criminal.Also light weight (relative to a U lock) and quick for safer areas.Highly recommended!

These little U locks are excellent value and really sturdy compared to die cast disc locks.The trick is to occasionally lube it internally with dry graphite lubricant.Mine has easily lasted over a year with no issues because I use dry graphite lubricant.So, to anyone buying this lock and complaining about it sticking or jamming, do NOT use WD-40, this will make things worse.

Roughly £22 for 2 in August 2024. This felt like really good value for money. I know the usual adage of you get what you pay for so I’m not expecting them to be the absolute best in terms of security. But first impressions are good. Ok it has some bits of plastic that won’t last, such as the keyhole cover. I expect this bit to break within a few months. The remainder of the lock feels very well made. It’s certainly heavy and just feels like you’d need an angle grinder to have a chance of doing it real damage.A detail worth noting is, I was lead to believe the shackle was 16mm diameter metal. No it’s not, it’s 14mm with a rubber/plastic sleeve.

I've got my bikes chained together with one of these to secure them, and it's certainly a solid lock. The rotating cover for the key hole gives confidence it won't fill up with rust or dust, and it's easy to fit given that the entire shackle comes off the lock mechanism.

Combine this with the Sterling 1213 12mm chain also available on amazon and this the cheapest combination that achieves the bicycle diamond security rating, anything else costs more than double.Not directly related to this product but I prefer combining it with a chain because those are a little harder to attack with an angle grinder than an u-lock because it flops around.

This is my review of the Burg Wachter 100D 14mm Heavy Duty Sold Secure Diamond & Gold Padlock U LockThis lock is surprisingly small for a shackle lock. It is too small to be used on it's own as it will need a cable or a chain as well in order to secure your bike.The small size of this lock is perfect for attaching around a part of the frame whilst you are cycling and not being overly heavy and still having an amazing security rating.(Sold Secure Diamond for cycle use)The weakest link is not this lock but will be the steel cable that I am using which I believe only has a silver rating. Sometimes however I do not want to be weighed down with the bigger 2kg shackle lock if I am nearby to the bike and I perceive the theft risk to be lower.I think that it is better to use a larger shackle lock that goes through the bike frame and around the bike rack or whatever you are securing your bike to but unfortunately the enclosed section on my folding bike is very low down and I find it easier to use a cable to reach up to the securing point and I needed a smaller lock to facilitate this which is why I purchased this lock.If I had to leave my bike in a higher risk area I would make sure to use this small shackle lock with the cable and also take the larger heavier shackle lock and find a place where I was able to use the larger shackle lock through the frame and around the bike rack and also the cable also through the frame and around a secured object with this smaller shackle lock. The bike may still get stolen as the crooks seem to not be bothered who sees or hears them but at least you have done your best to make it hard for them and maybe they will go elsewhere.

Seems strong easy to use hasn't been tested for strength

It is easy to use. Its outer dimensions are 4" by 4" so it is not small but feels solid. I tested the steel and it is certainly hardened. The silver part of the lock is a plastic ring which is turned to reveal the lock mechanism plastic. Initially the plastic ring on my lock was very stiff and I had to gently rotate it using a large pair of pliers to free it off. It has worked fine since and I have uses silicone spray on the lock mechanism and behind the plastic ring to keep everything moving properly. The lock is quite heavy. I use mine with a wire rope and I have little doubt the wire rope is the weak link not the lock. You could not use the lock on its own to secure a bike - it is simply not big enough to fix around the frame and anything else at the same time. Used with the wire rope it is quick and easy to secure a bike to most things. The plastic ring in the centre of the lock can be rotated to cover the lock mechanism and keep water out - it seems to work but time will tell.I think it is a pretty sound purchase though one or two people have complained about the lock failing. I see no signs of that happening to mine but time will tell. I give it four stars for now and will revise upwards if it keeps working without problem.

For 30 USD, this is great value! The mechanism in these locks are a little tough, but applying lock oil helps a lot! Sold secure gold for powered cycle, so you can trust this product!
