Reizen Pro Knife with Slicing Guide

Great knife works as it should and replaced a knife that was the old standby.

Design of the guide in relation to the cutting edge prevents you from cutting all the way through. In order to use it one must lift the bread off the cutting board in order to be able to use the knife as intended. This produces a ragged and lousy cut.

Bought it for 75 cents like many people here. Came in a cheap packaging like a 75 cent knife. The slicing guide is not that accurate to work with, and it's for specific use, like cutting cheese. It's not quite useful to me, but for 75 cents, I'll take it in case I have the need.

My knife work is not chef quality; with this type of knife I don't have to wait and work years to gain those skills. I've used other better quality serrated knives with guides, they're excellent for repetitive or very fine slicing of meats and vegetables. This one, not so much. The guide is stamped, not forged or cast, and the guide adjustment set screw is threaded into plastic, so I don't have much hope for it lasting long. Because of those to factors, when set to slice very thin, the guide and blade are not parallel, resulting in slightly wedge shaped slices. I bought this to slice bread so I wish it was about an inch longer to work better with artisan loaves. However, the guide eliminates the need to store a bulky loaf slicing guide in my already crowded kitchen cabinets so with some finesse I can make it work. It fits well on my magnetic knife rack even with the guide attached. I like that the guide is removable. This makes it functional for other purposes and easy to clean as well. Also be aware that the guide is taller than the knife (which it has to be to work properly) meaning you have to angle the blade and pull it through the food to completely slice through it at the bottom. I can finesse that also. Knife is a good weight and very well built. This is a good purchase.

I bought the knife as a Christmas gift. The person who received the knife had been wanting one for a long time and very excited to receive one.

This knife arrived broken. I believe it was also missing a part, but didn't have any paperwork or instructions so I can't be sure. In addition, the product was dirty (dusty, almost like sawdust and dirt) inside the plastic packaging. I was Disgusted. I do not recommend purchasing.

If you have super thick, heavy bread that you are wanting to cut it works great...for anything less than that you'll not only get unevenly cut bread but it will tear the bread apart at the bottom. Would not recommend for anything.
