Efficient, compact, and perfect for a home office.
The Bonsaii 8-Sheet Crosscut Shredder has been a great addition to my home office setup. It handles credit cards and standard documents easily, and the crosscut feature gives me peace of mind regarding security. The 4.2-gallon bin is the perfect size for moderate shredding tasks without taking up too much floor space, and it operates surprisingly quietly compared to other models I’ve used. It’s a reliable, no-nonsense shredder that gets the job done efficiently.

I would give this 10 stars !!!!!
I would give this 10 stars! My other one had no handle so I kept jamming my fingers and kind of dropping it into the bucket on each empty. This is fabulous to shred so many sheets of paper. I easily used 9 sheets each time. As soon as I received it, I shredded and filled a 13 gallon bag. Not once did it jam (and I stuffed it pretty full each time) nor overheat or shutdown. An absolute joy compared to the one I had. Perfect. It now has about 2 more feet of shredding to go! I did about a foot of shredding in no time at all. I’m so thrilled to finally have a shredder that is reliable and no paper stuck in the assembly. I would have to take needlenose plyers and try and unjam my old one. This is like heaven! Perfect! Now I can bring it all to the recyling center. It’s great. So far, a high recommendation.

Works great!
Eats up paper and reduces a lot better than our old shredder! Easy to dump. Kind of noisey but not a big issue. Great price.

The Bonsaii Paper Shredder: My New Best Friend (and Arch Nemesis)
Gather 'round, privacy enthusiasts and those with a penchant for turning perfectly good documents into artistic confetti! Today, I want to extol the virtues (and lament the quirks) of the magnificent Bonsaii Paper Shredder. Before the Bonsaii graced my home office, my life was a chaotic mess of sensitive documents piling up like incriminating snowdrifts. Bank statements whispered their secrets, old utility bills screamed about my exorbitant energy consumption, and credit card offers multiplied faster than gremlins in a water park. I needed a solution, a guardian of my financial modesty, a paper-eating beast. Enter the Bonsaii. Oh, what a beast it is! Its sleek design initially fooled me into believing it was a sophisticated piece of machinery. I imagined a quiet, efficient hum as it transformed my woes into neat, unreadable strips. How naive I was. The Bonsaii doesn't hum. It roars. It sounds less like a shredder and more like a disgruntled lawnmower attempting to devour a small forest. Every time I feed it a document, it bellows with such force that my cat, Mittens, performs an Olympic-level high jump onto the nearest bookshelf. My neighbors probably think I'm running a small, very angry, industrial operation in my spare bedroom. And the capacity! It bravely claims to handle "X" sheets. What it doesn't mention is that "X" is often followed by "if you fold them precisely, pray to the shredder gods, and feed them one by agonizing one, whilst simultaneously performing a ritualistic dance to appease its mechanical soul." Attempting to feed it anything more feels like a personal affront to its delicate sensibilities, resulting in a dramatic, paper-jamming temper tantrum. But here's the kicker: it does shred. Eventually. With much fanfare, a fair amount of noise, and the occasional requirement for me to perform emergency paper surgery with tweezers. My sensitive documents are indeed unreadable, though now scattered like rogue ticker tape across my office floor. So, if you're looking for a shredder that adds an element of high-stakes drama to your document disposal, provides excellent background noise for your Zoom calls, and forces you to hone your paper-folding skills, the Bonsaii is for you. It's not just a shredder; it's an immersive, auditory, and often frustrating, experience. And for that, Bonsaii, I both love and fear you.

Good for people with chemical sensitivities!
I’m so glad that my old shredder’s switch began malfunctioning last week so I could get this one instead! This one is much, much better and it cuts paper into very small pieces. That will make emptying the bin much easier and reduce the amount of garbage bags needed, as well as protecting my privacy much better. It feels more durable than the last one I had purchased from a local office supply store. The switch is much better. And this one allows the use of vegetable oil in place of stinky shredding machine oil if preferred. That’s a major plus because I get sick around the chemical oils. This is at least the fifth brand of shredders I’ve purchased over the past twenty years and I like it better than any others, including the expensive, heavy duty Fellowes brand I fought with regularly. One thing that’s been common with every shredder I’ve owned is that they don’t really do well trying to shred the maximum number of pages. They usually work better and last longer if you only shred two or three pages maximum at once. Trying to keep shredding the maximum amount usually just jams them up and then they start pushing the cut pieces up into the top section where it’s difficult to get the giant clog loose without your fingers getting sliced up by the sharp blades. Needle nose pliers and tweezers are often necessary for that job, but it can usually be avoided by not overworking the machine. It’s also important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions about regular oiling and not running the machine more than the recommended number of minutes. Shredders also need plenty of time to cool down between work loads. This sounds like a pretty powerful machine, but it needs to be treated properly in order to extend its life. I’m planning to treat it with care, so that it can function for years. I noticed that this manufacturer also makes a larger version which can be used for longer periods without a break. That model would be ideal for anyone needing to shred lots of pages in a short time span. For people with time to shred in stages, this machine comes highly recommended. I saw many excellent reviews about this brand from many different websites. I’ve been wanting one for years and was simply waiting for my other one to give out. The timing was perfect because this one was on sale right when I needed it most! Being able to lubricate it with a safer oil also means that the shredded paper will be safe to use for composting. That’s something I had worried about in addition to trying to protect myself from having reactions to the regular machine oil smells from using my old shredder. This new one can remain on my main floor instead of being banished to the attic like my old one because I can be around it safely. It’s perfect for people with chemical sensitivities. I’m really happy that I ordered it.

Stopped working after a couple of years
Decent shredder for 2.5 years. Stopped working and will no longer power on. My previous shredder - can’t remember the brand/model - lasted more than 10 years.

No Regrets
I go through a LOT of paper. Not professionally, just on a personal level, but I hate to think of it flying around the neighborhood, so every week, or two, I'd sit down and tear up all pages manually. Yes, It dried out my fingertips, and ate up some time, but I couldn’t imagine it was a big enough sacrifice to justify purchasing a paper shredder. A few months ago, I saw this shredder. It was cheaper than anticipated, plus it crossshreds, so no one’s reading anything that's tossed. Every single time I use this shredder, it's confirmed I made the right decision. This morning, I sat down and shredded most of a 300 page scribbler, and emptied the shredder. Maybe 10 minutes. The description says not to shred more than 8 pages at a time. That's wise. I don’t count the pages, but you can definitely hear the difference when you overload the feed. Also, after dumping, there’s always some paper dust and shreds to clean up, but that’s always the case, manually or otherwise. For me, this purchase has been COMPLETELY justified. No regrets.

Also kein Minuspunkt.
