Works if your ladder fits within specs for use which are not listed
I have several folding step stools/ladders without a tool tray so I was very excited to try this as I get tired of going up and down the ladder for materials, tools, etc.Unfortunately the product fits a somewhat narrow range of ladders.Does not work on ladders with round support frames - see picture 1 (yes I did tighten it in the horizontal position - it fell). In the third picture in the listing, it shows a tool tray on such a ladder, but apparently that is a different product.Pictures 2 and 3: When it fits the ladder, it works great. Picture 3 shows about a 15 lbs hard drive unit sitting on the tray. The tray is very sturdy when installed correctly. So where does this tray fit?Rectangular or square supports or steps that are no more than 1.75" deep and no more than .75" high. You might do a bit better than .75" high but it does not work on a 1.125" height. You will need a 5 mm hex tool and an adjustable wrench if you want to tighten the screws on the metal support bracket to adjust the angle of the tray. I would have preferred a more straightforward screw nut handle.I counted off a star because the specs of where this tool tray would work are not in the listing which is going to lead to a lot of returns.Suggestion for a future product: Put the support bar underneath the tray and attach it to a support beam that comes out from the tray. This would form a triangle. This would mean the tray is supported by the support beam resting on the ladder frame itself and the product would fit a much wider assortment of ladders and be incredibly sturdy. Add an insert for round support beams. The beauty of this approach is that the weight would rest on the support beam and not the two grips at the top, so all they would have to do is just hold on. Again this would fit a much broader group of ladders.

Clever tool for convertible ladders
Got this for my harbor freight converting ladder and I was surprised. I thought it would be gimmicky but it works really well and helped me finish out a long section on my ceiling I couldn't reach with my normal folding ladder.

Make sure to refer to the product webpage when installing the tray!
Most adjustable ladders these days are designed to allow you to climb either side, so it doesn't make sense to arbitrarily select a side and permanently mount a tray when they are constructed. But having a tray - especially when you're 12 feet in the air - to hold tools, parts, and other items can be an invaluable aid. The Ajure Project Tray can come in handy, as long as your ladder rungs are not much thicker than an inch.Like many other items I've been getting from Amazon recently, this product does not come with instructions for installation. For that, you'll need to go to the Amazon product page. It is important to note that THE INTUITIVE WAY TO MOUNT THE TRAY IS INCORRECT - you'll probably want to mount the bracket *over* the ladder rung, as you can see in the first photo. This feels fairly secure for small tools and parts, but I'm not sure if it will support a full gallon of paint. In fact, you want to mount the bracket from the front of the ladder rung as you can see in the second photo. Before doing this, there are two metal arms along the side of the tray that are easy to miss. You pull the pins on the mounting bracket and rotate the arms into the slot created in the bracket, then release the pins. These arms provide the additional support necessary to hold the 44 pounds listed on the product webpage (I didn't independently verify the tray could support 44 pounds, but that's what the webpage says). The product webpage says the tray will fit on ladder rungs of 1.2 inches or less (in my opinion, this is generous - I'd say one inch or less). What it doesn't mention is that rather than measuring the depth of the rung (front-to-back), the 1.2 inches is the thickness of the rung (up-and-down). I found that none of my "serious" ladders had rungs thin enough for the tray to fit, as you can also see in the second photo. It is important to measure the thickness of the ladder rung on which you intend to attach the tray before placing an order, and it is also important that once you attempt to install the tray you visit the product webpage and see the proper installation orientation. If you can get the tray to fit on your ladder, it would be a most helpful addition to make up for having only two hands.

If it fit, it'd be great
I really like the concept of this project tray, especially since step ladders don't seem to come with them anymore. Unfortunately, it would not fit on the rungs of my folding extension ladder or the braces on the back of my Werner 6' step ladder. The Werner ladder (Class 1A 300 pound rating) has a diagonal brace that gets in the way of the clamps on this tray. This did not come with any instructions. While I am fairly mechanically inclined, I had a heck of a time figuring out how it was supposed to work, if I was able to attach it to my ladders. For instance, what is the little "Z" shaped piece of plastic for in the picture? I assume it's supposed to be removed, but who knows for sure?Fortunately, the Werner ladders have an attachment system for buckets and trays, but it would have been really nice to be able to use it with the extension ladder.
