I like it!
I did some research for a simple, no nonsense sharpening tool for my kitchen knives. There are a lot of high-end sharpeners out there but I find that sometimes the simple things work almost as well. I'm not a chef or even a hobby cook (although I can cook if asked to). What I wanted was a simple sharpener for the kitchen that worked as well as the sharpeners found in the hunting and fishing catalogs but that was compact, reasonably priced, and worked well.I ordered the Ozi and after being back ordered for a couple of weeks received it in the mail this afternoon. I took it out of the package, glanced at the instructions for opening and using it and in a couple of minutes was working on my first knife; a 30 year old Chicago Cutlery knife that hasn't been properly sharpened in years. It took a few minutes of work but the blade is now sharp as new. I then went through all the knives in our kitchen drawers that we use regularly. In less than 20 minutes they were all sharp. My wife just finished cooking a processed ham for Christmas dinner tomorrow; the kind with the skin that is pretty tough. I used one of our slicing knives that I knew from past experience would not work on this ham. TaDa! With the knife sharpened in the Ozi is sliced through with no problems. Playing card thin slices were easy. If it dulled at bit, I swiped it through the Ozi a couple of times and it cut through the skin with no problem.I don't normally write reviews like this but was so impressed with the results that I thought I'd share them. Yes the case is not built like Fort Knox but it works. I find that the vertical side makes a nice guide to land the blade in the fingers every time. This tool does what it claims. I don't know how long the diamond dust will last on the fingers, but if it's anything like the diamond dust hand sharpener I bought to do my daughter's hockey skates, it will last a long time and save me $$'s.Merry Christmas!

The easiest, best and fastest knife sharpener on the market!
When I bought a Furi knife after seeing it on a TV infomercial, the Furi sharpener came with it. I assumed that the sharpener probably would be a piece of crap, but I was so wrong. The sharpener works so well that I have given away all of my other sharpeners, including my Chef's Choice sharpener, which admittedly is an excellent machine. I have since bought 3 other Furi sharpeners -- one for travel (I don't travel without one), one for our place in Palm Desert (which we rent out for much of the year and return to find the knives dull), and another as a back-up sharpener. It is an amazingly easy and effective sharpener. Whenever we rent a home or condo on vacation, the knives in the kitchen are invariably dull, most having been washed in the dishwasher -- an absolute no-no for fine cutlery. With just 10-15 swipes through the sharpening blades, most knives are honed to exceptional sharpness. Sharpening an entire kitchen of knives takes less than 5 minutes, including the steak knives.I am an experienced cook and insist on using sharp knives. Nothing else simply will do. Furi definitely gets the job done!I have noticed some reviews that say the Furi removes too much metal. Those complaints simply are NOT TRUE! The Chef's Choice removes MUCH more metal, whereas the Furi hones the cutting edge like a professional chef's sharpening steel, only more easily, faster, and with significantly greater control. My kitchen knives are absolutely top quality, so I would not use anything that harmed the edge or shortened the knives' useful lives. I have used the Furi for at least the past 10 years, and doubt that I will ever use anything else on my knives, or on whatever we find when we travel. Simply the BEST!

Really Cheap Case
Be really careful if you buy this product. The case is designed for beauty, not functionality. The sharpener came in a clamshell package, which I cut open. I then opened the sharpener the way it looked like it should open, and immediately broke the spine on the case. After my frustration subsided, I started looking at the packaging more closely and noticed a small note on the BACK of the package showing how to easily open the clamshell. Once I did that, the inside was full of warnings about how to open the case- warnings that if not followed, break the case and void the warranty. Two things that really frustrated me:1) If it is really super important to open the case in a certain way, wouldn't it have been smarter to put the warnings on the FRONT of the shipping package, and then on the outside of the product as well?2) The case was designed to look cool, but once you throw the clamshell shipping package away with the warnings on it, anyone picking up the product to use it is going to break the case as I did. What a poor design: opening the case the way it looks like it should be open breaks it.They have stuck a piece of paper inside the clamshell warning you that if you open the case wrong and break the spine, you void the lifetime warranty. Obviously, they have had many complaints about this. Unfortunately for me, I looked at the front of the package and took the product out before reading all the paperwork inside. I am very disappointed in the design of the case. The sharpener did actually sharpen one of my high dollar knives after about 40 strokes (not the advertised four or five), so I will probably keep it due to its portability. If you buy this, just be aware that it won't be long before the poorly designed case breaks.I would rate the sharpening capability as average to good, but the case as a design nightmare.

A clever design that looks good and works well too
I'm no expert when it comes to knife sharpeners as some people seem to be when you read sharpener reviews on here, but I know a good item when I come across one. This is a very clever and practical design, that looks good and does the job asked of it.The diamond encrusted fingers are hidden in the clam like structure that's about the size of the palm of your hand, until you unfold the product for use. The two outer halves flip open to reveal the sprung sharpening blades, whilst folding back to create a firm base that doubles as a handle and most importantly of all, a hand and finger guard. The the diamond blades have a slight spring to them and this slight bit of 'give' in them means you get excellent control over your sharpening. you can go hard at first if your blades are really blunt, and then soft to finish off your edge. All in all, I think it's a good product that makes knife sharpening very, very easy. Stylish and functional, it wouldn't surprise me if this has won a few design awards or accolades of some sort. I could certainly see a case being made for it to become some sort of design classic. If you found this review helpful please give it the thumbs up.
