I picked this up for creating a blocking filter media for my multiple 32 Gal Fluval Flex aquariums to keep my shrimp from going through the pump areas through small slits in the plastic. So I cut it special to fit in the area and it prevents the shrimp from disapearing into the areas and they stay out and hide in the live plants and rocks. One of the biggest advantages is the ability to cut it to the exact size needed. Instead of trying to find a pre-made filter pad that fits, I was able to customize it perfectly for my setup. The 35 PPI foam provides a nice balance between mechanical filtration and water flow, helping trap debris while still allowing good circulation through the filter. The foam cuts cleanly with scissors or a utility knife, making installation simple and straightforward. I also appreciate that it can be rinsed and reused multiple times, which helps reduce ongoing filter maintenance costs. As someone who enjoys maintaining aquariums and building custom filtration systems, this type of filter foam is incredibly versatile and useful to keep on hand. The material feels durable and holds its shape well even after cleaning. It works great for freshwater aquariums, shrimp tanks, planted tanks, sumps, breeding setups, and many other filtration applications. For the size, quality, and flexibility it offers, this feels like excellent value for the money. Overall, this is excellent aquarium filter foam. I originally purchased the ALEGI Aquarium Sponge Filter Pad for a very unconventional reason - and I’m so glad I did. I tried to reorder replacement filters for my pet water fountain only to find out the fountain had been discontinued and the brand no longer carried the filters (so frustrating). Customer service suggested I try an aquarium sponge filter pad and cut it to size, saying it would work just as well and be far more affordable. They were absolutely right!! This sponge pad is fantastic quality - dense, durable, and super easy to cut to fit any filter compartment. I was able to customize it perfectly for my pet fountain, and the water is flowing clean and clear just like it did with the original filters. Bonus: I realized I can use this one pad for multiple filter replacements, which is a HUGE COST SAVINGS compared to buying brand-specific cartridges over and over. Very happy with this purchase

Works well for my saltwater aquarium. A little hard to clean. But it filters what I need it to.

Makes the absolute BEST pre filter for the back of your box fan! Perfect size and ppi for air flow while keeping out cat hair from clogging up the works!

Functions as it should. You get very little for the price. Way too much money for this product. Easy to work with and cut to size. Should have got double the amount for the price.

I use this in my estimated 285 gallon garden pond. So I only need about 3 in by 3 in squares to cover my submersible pump (24 watt 800 gph) intake valve. The pump will run non stop for about 3 days before I notice a performance drop in the aeration fountain thrusting up from the pond. I don't use an outlet extender for the output valve tubing. So instead it thrusts up from 16 inches of water and typically caps off about 6 inches above the surface. It's 800 gph strong and the point of this review I'm totality is that these are durable, a good value, and well made.

I acquired the aquarium sponge filter pad for deployment across all of my aquatic systems. The sponge exhibits substantial thickness, aligning with the dimensions suitable for a large Fluval filter. It can be precisely cut to accommodate smaller filtration units. I am highly satisfied with this acquisition; I would definitely repurchase it and I recommend its use to others. It's super easy to clean, and while it has a slight smell when you open it, the smell goes away once you rinse it.

I purchased this aquarium sponge pad to replace the filer in my outdoor water fountain. The factory filter was collapsing onto the suction of the motor unit as it filtered out debris in my water fountain feature. I was having to clean the filer almost every other day to keep fountain flowing. Replacement cost for my exact pump filter was way more expensive than just purchasing this sheet of foam and making my own. I traced the shape of the filter and cut out the size needed and replaced it. My fountain now flows freely again for weeks before needing to clean and rinse the filter. This aquarium works is perfectly, and you can cut to any size you need.

I see a lot of negative reviews in regard to product not being the correct thickness. Maybe you didn't receive the card explaining what to do, I don't know. All I did was fill up the sink with hot water and soaked it for 30 secs, rung it out, put it in the dryer. It came out perfect as you can see in my video. No issues and it's exactly as described. Perfect for my aquarium filter.

This thing is about 18" by 18 " which a can live with, but its about 1/2 inch thick. ITS NO-WHERE NEAR 1.57 INCHES THICK. For $30, guys, seriously, talk about skimping on quality. You'd think you were cutting cocaine!!!
