Excellent Stain Brush – Saves Time and Applies Evenly
This deck stain brush exceeded my expectations. It loads stain well and applies it evenly with minimal waste, making the job faster and more efficient. It saved me hours of work compared to using a stain pad or rollers. It’s especially great for back brushing stain into the grain—worked beautifully on my redwood deck. The brush held up well through extended use, and with a quick wrap, it stayed soft and ready for use the next day. Easy to clean and store, and durable enough for future projects. A great value for any deck staining work.

Right size and great quality for any job especially large ones.
This brush is amazing. I have been using it today to apply some deck stain and sealer. I used a telescopic wooden long handle to brush the product on my very large and old deck. It did a beautiful job and still holding up nicely. Cleans with warm soapy water and/or paint thinner for buildups. The bristles hold up up great the brush size is perfect. The handle is easily attached to any wooden or metal extension pole. No shedding. Comes with a nice small wire comb to make the bristles stay in place of the brush has been used in small sections. Perfect. Would buy again.

Fantastic brush, well worth it.
Great brush for staining a deck. Gets in between the boards and cracks. Much better than using a roller. I ended up doing a 31x12 deck and a 18x8 deck. Even though you can reuse the brush over and over after the second deck I ended up throwing it away and will get another for when the next time comes. At this price it's still a deal.

Might be better than a paint pad!
I usually use a 7" paint pad to stain my deck. Given my deck was in such tough shape this time around, I decided to give this brush a try after reading reviews. It did not disappoint. What I found was that this brush did a better job than the paint pad at getting into small cracks and spaces between the planks. Sometimes, I had to change the direction and/or angle of the brush head but I was able to get into all the places I wanted to stain with it. In short, the brush gave me better coverage and control. Effort wise, it took a little more force on the pole to spread the paint but it was not tiring for this old guy . If there is one drawback to the brush, it is that it doesn't hold much stain. Working from a roller tray that had a good 1"+ of stain in it, the brush would only hold enough solid stain to cover 4 square feet of bare wood at a time. It did slightly better at 6-8 sf on the second coat. Durability wise, I was able to stain a 750 sf deck, with two coats ( 1500 sf and 4.5 gal total), over 6 different work sessions with this one brush without it deforming/falling apart. For cleaning, all I did was wrap the unwashed brush in a double plastic shopping bag and freeze it between uses. When I finally cleaned it with soap and water at the end of the project, it took a while but cleaned up decently enough that I can use it again for touch ups in future years.

kept its shape and fibers for the duration of the job
I have a 300 Square foot Shore Master Dock that has wood planks. The setup is 10 years old and the wood is pretty dry and cracked. I wanted to stain it with a Marine Stain to breathe a little life back into it and maybe extend its usable life.I purchased this brush and Defy Marine Stain for the job. The wood as stated is old and dry and there was a lot of cracks and snags, but the fibers stayed together and the brush kept it shape for the 3 weeks it took me to complete the project. I would stain one side of the deck material, put the brush in a zip lock back come back sometimes 4 days later and do another coat or another side of the deck. Again, this went on for 3 weeks and this brush stayed ready to go each time. It took up the stain well and paid it out very smoothly. I was very impressed with the brush given the job it had.In the picture you can see the condition of the existing wood at the bottom of the pic, the condition of the wood after power washing it, then at the top, you can see the finished product after 2 coats of stain.Great brush, held up well.

Well made but...
Full disclosure, this was my first time staining anything. Purchased this to stain my newly rebuilt deck. It was packaged nicely and very well made. It fit on the end of my own pole just fine. Very thick brush and no issues with bristles coming off. I took off a star because it seemed to not take in the stain very well and I was constantly having to dip into stain. It was making the project take forever. Maybe it was the stain we used, not sure (Ready Seal). We ended up taking it off and using a regular hand style brush on the pole instead about halfway through and we were able to move much faster at that point. Maybe with a different type of stain this would work better.

Big time winner
I'm glad I did my research. First said, I only give reviews on one star and five star products. This one is a five star all the way. I spent better part of three weeks rebuilding a 300 sq ft deck on a home we have purchased. Then spent another 2 days sanding the mill glaze and mill marks from all the replaced deck boards. I had never been faced with having to stain a deck before and wasn't sure of which application method would be the best. Since every type of application included back brushing, I just figured why not just brush to begin with. We chose a semi transparent stain that is locally manufactured here in Tennessee of which recommended back brushing. With this brush combined with my stain and prep work, we were able to produce a five star finish on our deck in about an hour and a half. Very smooth application with the soft bristles getting in between the deck boards with ease. Like any other brush, I was able to do cut ins with no problems. I applied very little pressure during use. Also, I worked out of a five gallon bucket and just dipped half the brush as needed. It needs to be said, that after reading some of the reviews, prior to use, I replaced the attachment head screws with longer ones to prevent issues during use. I'm generally not a wasteful person so I did attempt to clean this brush post use. For the price, I'm not certain it was worth the effort. The quality of this brush rivals some of my $30 2" paint brushes. Last thoughts: if you can sweep a floor with a push broom, you can use this brush to stain a deck with outstanding results.

Fast and Excellent!
Excellent product. I was dreading re-staining my deck. I couldn't believe how well and how quickly this covered the deck (Solid stain) and how nice it looked. 100% great product.

Bates decking stain/paint brush
This is a really good quality product and would thoroughly recommend, a very good finish as you can see to my deck
User
Far superior to my previous brush
Very impressed with the box brush came in, the brush bristles are much more dense and much softer than the brush I had previously so should hold a lot of product and make job quicker and easier, even get a "nit comb" included, you young whippersnappers can look that up if you don't know what that is!far superior to my previous brush
User
