Uncaged Ergonomics Book Stand, Adjustable Laptop Stand for Desk (Silver)

I use this ALL the time in ALL kinda of places. I am literally in the car (as a passenger obviously!) Using this to do school work on the car ride. I have used this on the couch. On the floor in front of my couch. On the bed. I dont use it often on tables because I do have another book stand I usually use at the desk or table but there is no reason this couldn't work there. Holds my really huge books. Has holes in the back to allow laptops to breathe. Can go really high, short, in between, sturdiness has not been a problem, dials are numbered making it easier to me sure you have both sides on the same settings instead of just eye balling it. Can have the surface vertical, horizontal, and any way in between. The ONLY thing negative i can say about this is it would be cool if it had page holders (only needed when you have the surface more vertical though when it's leaned back gravity does what gravity do. And it can be difficult to adjust the surface angel if you go the route of trying to press both buttons the same time. I can see how it could be very difficult to do for someone with disabilities because it really does require both hand to make any adjustments. Ultimately, one of my most used Amazon purchases and makes doing school work much more versatile. I actually bought another book stand first because it had page holders and was huge (I have very big school books) that was for use on tables desks etc, and came back and bought this one as well. While I do use the other one as well, I could have saved money and only bought this one and would have been fine its so versatile.

Bought this for use in bed recovering after surgery. I had to lie down for two weeks straight. I placed this over my torso with tray titled holding either laptop or book. It kept me sane. Two years later, I use it now as a laptop tray or book stand when I’m sitting in the couch. I absolutely love it. Con: it takes a while to figure out the correct angles that you want each part of the articulating legs set to. Once you’ve got that dialed, it’s great.

I’m mixed on this. I love the customizable versatility of it, but as others have said, it’s not easy. Me trying to figure out the proper alignment to read in bed with it was comedic for sure. My main gripe is that it does take so long to figure out the alignment you need, but then you really have to just leave it. You can’t collapse it when it’s not needed and go back to where you were, if that makes sense. Yes you can collapse it flat, but you’re starting from scratch again to get it back - it’s not like it just will jump back to where it was. I’ve thought about trying it for different applications, but the idea of going through all that is off putting. I think this would likely suit much better for just a laptop stand, rather than for what I bought it for (reading books in bed). It feels too wide and bulky for bed use, then it’s not exactly easy to pick it up and lower it to the ground. I’m used to just putting my book on the night stand and switching the light off, so this adds shuffle and noise that’ll wake my husband next to me. It’s just not the right fit for my needs but I think it’s a cool product. I debated just keeping it in case, but it’s just another thing that’ll sit around as clutter.

I liked that this folds o ni flat and the height is adjustable but I found that trying to hold the button on the hinges in while trying to adjust the frame was quite difficult. I had bought it for my 85 year old mother who reads 1-2 hardcover books every month and likes to read in bed. I had to adjust it for her and she said she would try it but she would not be able to fold it flat to store under her bed as I had hoped because it was too difficult to bend back in to position by herself. It was actually difficult for me to bend into position. I really like the idea of this tray but if it would open up in one fluid movement with a locking mechanism to engage once it was the right height I woukd give it 5 stars.

A rare case of getting exactly what I expected. Well-designed and built, sturdy, and completely adjustable. I use it for iPad Air in bed, to raise it up so my neck isn’t strained by looking at my lap, and also keeps it farther away so my eyes don’t get crossed. An unexpected additional benefit: I can touch type again — on my little iPad keyboard, because the stand not only holds it upright but provides a backstop to type against. That requires a pillow to prop up my arms and hands, but it’s easily done. Some have complained that it’s not easy to adjust. I don’t think that’s a problem at all. You most likely won’t be adjusting it frequently — after trying a few positions, you’ll probably find one that works and stick with it. It takes a LITTLE doing — especially the first time when you’re unfamiliar with it. If it were any easier to adjust, it wouldn’t be as sturdy. Not a good tradeoff. I love how they even thought of providing all those holes in the back, providing both aeration (cooling) and antenna access for your device (antennas are built into the back of some iPads). I wish they were on the right side rather than the left, but they do cover the middle enough to allow placing the device in the middle.

Wow, thank you Uncaged Ergonomics! Post shoulder surgery, I’ve been needing something to hold my tablet, books, and puzzles at a comfortable angle, and this is amazing. It’s so much more comfortable not trying to hold on with my hands, which get tired, or prop up a book with my legs- which still cause neck tiredness from looking down. I found this easy to adjust even with an arm in a sling, and it’s just so nice to be able to get what I’m reading up to eye level and to be comfortable. I didn’t expect there to be a soft rubber sleeve included, which slides on to the lower bar where my book rests, up its so nice to also rest my wrist there as I turn pages. It’s a thoughtful feature. The whole thing is well thought out- nice and wide to go over my lap and hold any size book on its surface. I imagine it would make a nice tray for a dinner plate as well. I can’t wait to recommend it to friends and don’t know when I’ve been so happy with a purchase. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Editing to add that adjusting the side legs is not hard! You press in a button and move the legs where you want them, but you do not have to do both sides at the same time! Turn it on one end and adjust the side that’s up, then turn it on the other end and repeat. It’s also GREAT how it goes into any angle, just release the button at any point.

I was concerned this book stand might not handle the heavy books I need it for, particularly omnibus editions of graphic novels. As a test, I oriented the stand into a sturdy leg configuration (keeping it simple, avoiding too much scissoring), and it worked fine with my largest, heaviest book, 75 Years of Marvel. Consider the specs for this book: 16.76 pounds, 13.31 x 3.54 x 18.5 inches! The actual "table" and support lip on this stand is wide and deep enough for a book like this, and the width also properly allows me to fit my body between the legs. Some of the other stands sold by Amazon are not wide enough for me to fit under. But it's also not too wide to fit on my couch -- this safely rests on my cushions (which are reasonably firm), so I can relax in a recumbent reading position and comfortably flip pages. Since my eyes are getting old, I simply need a nice magnifying glass for some of the small text that ends up high on such tall pages! Anyway, so far, so good, and I trust this will hold up over time (seemed like good construction, all preassembled). Also comes in a nice box with a handle, like a carrying case!

I love this reading/work stand. I use it primarily to convert my home office desk to a stand up desk. It is strong, yet very light so I can move it around with little effort. Highly adjustable, I’m able to lengthen it enough to use as a side table, or shrink it down enough to use as a laptop table. Unfortunately, adjusting it is tricky. It has six adjusting buttons, three on each side, that have to be pushed in while you move the leg sections. I find this a bit difficult as the buttons require a bit more pressure than I like (arthritis) so I have to use both thumbs and move the sections with the crook of my arm. This might not be a problem for youthful non-arthritic types. Another problem is matching the adjustments on the opposite sides. They have to be exact or the stand wobbles. They have placed numbers on the buttons to match them, a good idea, but the numbers are not logical. They are the same on each side which makes them useless. If you set one at setting six, for example, the opposite one has to be set at a completely different number or it doesn’t work. Logically the numbers on each side should match which would have meant using two sets of numbered buttons. I solved this by writing down the correct sequences for the heights I use, but that is not elegant and could have been prevented with a little thought on the part of the manufacturer. So, a great product once you deal with the button issues.

Tiene un diseño elegante al ser de aluminio, es ligero, facil de usar y cumple su función. Lo ocupo en mi trabajo donde coloco expedientes de varios tamaños, facilita la lectura y calmó mi dolor de cuello, ya que no tengo que bajar mi vista, sino mantengo mi vista hacia el frente y lo utilizo diario, así que vale la pena el precio, ya que estoy seguro que me va a durar mucho tiempo y cuida mi salud al tener una postura adecuada de lectura.

Cuesta unos 20 minutos encontrar las 4 o 5 posiciones en las que se usará. No creo que haga falta más, pero con esas 4 o 5 posiciones, se puede utilizar en la cama, en el sillón , o en la mesa. Nunca más mirar hacia abajo, ni con un libro, ni con un portátil, tablet, etc. Lo hemos comprado para nuestra hija que es una gran lectora y además estudiante, y pasaba muchas horas con el cuello en mala postura y sujetando el portátil en las piernas. Al verlo, con las patas y las posiciones qu e puede adoptar, me pareció que iba a ser complicado y no lo iba a usar, pero está muy contenta y yo más. Muy ligero y robusto.

I love this stand. I bought it because of my neck arthritis. It's adjustable so I can use it on my coach, bed, table or recliner. The legs adjust so your book can be at eye level. It hold's heavy concordances and bibles. You can use it for small paperback novels but you have to hold the pages open, there are no clips to hold it in place. I did not want those anyway. However, with the heavy books it's hand's free reading. There's a ledge to set the book on so it does not slide and you can put your pens on it. Other models didn't have the thick ledge like this one. I've used it for 2 years now and I'm constantly banging or dropping it and it's been holding up. I love it. It's very sturdy and you can fold it and store it. Great for small apartments.
