Excellent abridged version for reluctant readers
Excellent abridged version for reluctant readers, students with dyslexia, English Language Learners, homeschooling. Common Core Standards-Aligned open-ended questions and writing prompts are in the back of the book with vocabulary list. Ignore the one star review from Mike. He admits he didn't read this. He doesn't understand that standards have nothing to do with content. Changing content defeats the purpose of having standards for analyzing text. Each state has it's own standards, Common Core or other, so his questions to the publisher is ridiculous.

Great for Pre-K children
These books are great to engage Pre-K children in reading and classical literature. My 4 YOS loves these books and gets very engaged with the stories. However, I wouldn't recommend for older kids and adults as the stories are very watered down. The binding could be better quality too.

Writer Martin Powell did a very nice job of abridging/condensing the original book
Writer Martin Powell did a very nice job of abridging/condensing the original book, but I bought it for the artwork of Daniel Ferran, which is in a word, terrific. Great facial renditions, panel layouts, plus expert use of "camera angles" and perspective. (They also did the "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" Stevenson book in the same series.

Succinct, wonderfully illustrated version of the classic tale
I had tried reading this famous novel to my kids before and they lost interest because of the Victorian-era language. This graphic version summarizes Doyle's famous tale brilliantly, with vivid illustrations that engage the young reader.
